"Why, thank you, ma'am." He grinned. "Like I said last night, I joined several weeks ago, and since this fantasy was something that meant a lot to you—and to my surprise, fascinated me as well—I tried to educate myself."
"You shocked me." She shook her head. "I can truly say I've never been more surprised."
Dane leaned in closer, reached up, took the cup from her hand, and set it on the nightstand. Gently, he brushed the hair away from her face. "So did I do okay? Are you happy, love?" One dark eyebrow lifted. "Did you get what you wanted for Christmas?"
Tears welled, and she did her best to blink them back. Yet one fell free and trailed a warm path down her cheek. Dane smoothed it away with his thumb. Damn, he knew how to make her melt.
Monica lifted her hand and covered his. "Yes. I'm happy," she forced out past the lump in her throat. "It was everything I imagined and more. And who knows?" She shrugged. "Maybe we'll play again—maybe not. But I do know this…you, Dane O'Laughlin, are all I ever want or need for Christmas."
