“It will be fine,” I said as I waved her off. We walked into the bakery and was surrounded with heavenly smells of cakes, pastries, and pies. I rubbed my hands together in anticipation.

Finally, a wedding task I can enjoy.

We sat at a little table while an older lady handed us piece after piece. The pieces were tiny and most of the time, I had to remind myself not to shove the whole thing in my mouth so that Lennox could taste it.

After what felt like a hundred pieces of cake had been consumed. I sat back and rubbed my stomach.

Lennox looked at me, no emotion showing on her face. “I told you not to eat it all. Now your stomach hurts, doesn’t it?”

“No.” I felt my brows wrinkle together while my upper lip turned up.

She shook her head before asking me which one was my favorite.

I shrugged. “I liked all of them, especially the one with the raspberry filling.” It made my stomach hurt to think about it, but that cake was so good, if another piece was placed in front of me, I would’ve eaten it anyway.

Lennox smiled. “That one was good,” she agreed.

“You know, now that I really think about it, I don’t remember what it tasted like. Can we try it again?” I asked looking at the woman.

“Mason, no. You’re already sick, what’s wrong with you?”

Lennox chose the cake I picked and gave the lady all the information while I sat at the table, unmoving.

As we walked out, I held my stomach.

Lennox laughed out loud at my pain. “I told you not to eat so much.”

“When someone places a piece of cake in front of me, I’m going to eat all of it. That’s just the way it goes.” I shrugged.

After my stomachache passed, I packed up a box full of glass bottles and used cans. I found Lennox sitting on the couch watching TV.

  “Okay, let’s go out back.”

She looked up to me surprised. “For what?”

  “Shooting practice, remember?”

She seemed a little nervous, but stood to follow me out the door.

After getting the guns out of the locked safe in our bedroom closet, we journeyed outside, far back behind the pond. I had already taken the liberty to set up a stand to hold the targets. I set them up on the wooden plank and backed away.

“Okay, here is the safety,” I said pointing out where it was and how to turn it off and on. She watched and listened to me intently, still looking nervous and a little scared.

“It’s very important that you always put the safety on when you’re not using the gun. It’s also important to remember to turn it off when a threat approaches. Sometimes you will only have a few seconds to pull the gun and shoot. If the safety is on, the gun won’t shoot and your attacker has a chance to rush you.” Her eyes were wide, but never looked away from me and what I was showing her.

I showed her how to load and unload the gun before placing the gun in her hands. I placed her a good twenty feet from the target and stood behind her, bracing her arms. I held my hands over hers, I could feel her shaking.

“Calm down and just breath,” I whispered in her ear. “Close your eyes, listen to the sounds of your surroundings. Feel the cool metal of the gun in your hands.” With our arms extended out in front of us, I closed my eyes and concentrated on the sounds of her even breathing.

“When you’re ready, open your eyes, aim at your target, and slowly pull the trigger back.”

I felt her take a deep breath, her shoulders rose and fell. Finally, I felt the muscles in her hands working to pull the trigger.

The sound of the gun firing filled the air around us and the sound of shattering glass followed. Lennox jumped and squealed. “I did it!” She turned and jumped into my arms. The fact that she was jumping around with a gun worried me a little, but I couldn’t help but celebrate with her.

I placed her on her feet. “Okay, try again.” I took a few steps back, wanting her to try it on her own.

She shot, but missed. She turned to look at me. “It’s okay, just remember to stay calm and take aim.”

She nodded before turning around to aim again.

She hit her target and while she was excited, she moved on to the next.

By the time we called it a night, all the cans and bottles had been hit. Lennox had a better understanding on how to use a gun, and I felt immensely better. I locked the gun back up and we settled in for a quiet night and a romantic dinner in our favorite spot.

The next morning, we got up and headed to the shop. Work passed by quickly, there was still so much stuff left to establish. All our former work was gone, so with every person that came in wanting to rent a boat, we had to start the whole process from scratch, which was a major task.

When it was closing time, I grabbed Lennox and made a run for it before anyone could ask me any questions. Plus, I was excited about my first soccer practice since I got the full time coaching gig.

“I’m so excited to see you play,” she said bouncing in the passenger seat on the way to the field.

“I’m not actually going to be playing. I’m coaching, there’s a difference.”

“Whatever, I’m happy to see you do it. You need some fun in your life.”

When we got to the field the team was already gathered in the center. I left Lennox sitting in the stands while I went to warm up with the guys.

The hour went by quick. We ran a mile around the field, ran some drills, and split up into two teams to have a little practice game. Lennox got her wish and I did play with the guys for a bit. If anything, it just reminded me that I wasn’t eighteen anymore and was seriously out of shape. I was breathless by the time I called an end to practice. I sent the guys home before packing up my bag and starting my journey back to her.

When I approached, I found Connor leaning against the stands, talking to Lennox. I could tell by the way he was holding himself that he was hitting on her.

“Connor, what do you think you’re doing, man?” I asked as I closed the distance between us.

“I’m just introducing myself to Lennox here.” He didn’t take his eyes off her. I felt that ping of jealously but reminded myself that he was just a seventeen-year-old kid.

“You know this is my fiancée, right?”

“Yeah, she told me. You know, Coach,” he finally turned his eyes to me, “you shouldn’t leave a girl this beautiful sitting alone. Someone is sure to snatch her up.” He turned back to Lennox, giving her a smile.

I laughed. “Yeah, but I doubt it will be you. Get out of here.” I lightly shoved him as I took Lennox’s hand.

He started walking off but turned back to us. “Hey, I turned on the charm and it was working, wasn’t it?”

  “Something like that,” she teased.

I groaned. “Don’t give the kid false hope.”

Connor laughed before turning back around and running for his truck.

  Chapter Ten

  Lennox - Three Months Later

The wedding was quickly approaching. Kathryn planned the whole thing and everything was turning out just as I pictured it. I paid the final payment on my dress and it had been shipped to me so we didn’t have make another trip back to California. Kathryn had it steamed; It was wrinkle free and it had been hanging in the closet in the spare bedroom so Mason wouldn’t see it. I was a sucker for traditions.

We had one week until the wedding and even though the planning was hectic, I couldn’t have been any more excited. It was time for our bachelor and bachelorette parties and while I was excited, I also didn’t want to leave Mason.

We wanted to have one big party together, but Alissa and Dane wouldn’t hear of it. They said the best man and the maid of honor got to plan the parties. Like the dumbasses we were, we agreed.

Neither Mason nor myself knew where we were going to be, only that we would be gone for the weekend. The night before, we spent our time together packing, having dinner, and just having a quiet night at home. I had been kept busy with Kathryn and the wedding, while Mason
was busy with the shop and soccer.

I was finally allowed to be left alone, although I wasn’t really alone because Kathryn was always there going over something for the wedding.

We hadn’t heard or seen Chris since the night he broke into the shop. Once he was hospitalized, they put him in a coma to let his brain heal. As it turned out, Mason caused Chris a little bit of brain damage. It took him two months before he was out of the hospital and then he was taken to jail. He bailed out soon after because he had money to do it, but with the seriousness of his crime, he was placed on house arrest back in California. We hadn’t heard from him since.

He had gotten back into the spotlight with everything that had happened. You couldn’t stop on an entertainment channel or see a magazine cover that didn’t have him on it. I picked up a magazine one day only to read how he had managed to turn his life around. He issued a statement owning up to the abuse and made a big deal of showing off his attempts at bettering himself with AA classes and anger management. He issued an apology to me for all wrong doings and somehow managed to win over everyone after all. I couldn’t believe it, but I didn’t care what he did with his life as long as he stayed out of mine.

When Mason finally made it home from practice, Kathryn took the hint and left us alone. We had a quick dinner of spaghetti with a side salad, opened a bottle of wine, and moved to the balcony to eat while star gazing.

After cleaning up our mess, Mason grabbed me up in his arms and carried me to the bathroom. He set me down in front of the mirror before reaching into the shower and turning on the water.

He slowly stepped up behind me, pressing kisses along my shoulder and up to my neck where he paused to let my hair down.

As it fell down around me, our eyes locked in the mirror. I could see a hundred emotions burning behind them.

He pulled his shirt over his head and returned his eyes to the mirror to stay locked with mine.

His hands came around my stomach, his fingers grazing over the small sliver of skin that peeked between my shirt and jeans. Goosebumps rose as his rough fingertips moved to my side, grasping my shirt to yank it over my head.

He tore his eyes from mine again. I watched him in the mirror as he unclasped my bra and brushed the straps from my shoulders with his lips.

His lips were touching me softly, teasing me with every caress. I let my head fall back against his strong chest while his hands roamed my body.

He held my breasts and massaged them, rolling my nipples between his fingers before his hands descended lower.

Before I knew it, I was completely naked in front of him. He spun me around and our lips crashed together. I couldn’t wait any longer to feel him against me. His slow movements and soft touches only intensified the need I had for him.

His hands slowly moved down my back, to my ass, and then to my thighs where he grabbed firmly before lifting me up against him, straddling him.

With the bathroom already filling up with steam, he sat me on the counter. He leaned back just enough to let his eyes roam my body that was bare and completely open for him.

His eyes were burning so hot, they were smoldering. His tongue swept out, moistening his bottom lip before he gave me a cocky grin that made my entire body tingle.

He wrapped his hand around my lower back, pulling me closer to the edge. His lips found mine while he took himself in his hand and rubbed against me.

I let a soft whimper escape me and I reached for him, wanting to pull him closer, wanting him inside me.

His gaze intensified on my eyes. “Oh, no. This is my night.”

I couldn’t help the smile that teased my lips. “What do you want me to do, then?”

“Hands at your sides, flat against the counter. You can’t touch me, you can’t move, and you can’t make a sound.” With his last word, he thrusted into me.

The overwhelming fullness made me take a sudden breath.

Mason heard it and stopped, eyeing me.

I recovered quickly and forced my lips together.

His jaw flexed before picking back up with his movements.

He slid into me slowly but forcefully, not stopping until he felt me tense around him. He would roll his hips, hitting that spot that sent me over the edge every time, before pulling back out and repeating the process. He knew what he was doing to me was driving me crazy.

When he picked up the pace and had me on the edge, I forgot about “his rules” and arched my back, trying to get him to that spot I wanted him to hit.

“Don’t fucking move, Lennox.” He was breathless, trying to control himself. I knew he was close himself. “I want you as still as possible. I want you to be busting at the seams until I let you come.”

Mason and I had had some hot sex before, but his orders only made me hotter. I wanted him to make me come. I needed him to make me come.

I followed his orders, keeping my hands flat against the counter. Not being able to touch him was driving me insane. I wanted to pull him in for a kiss. I wanted to run my hands up his hard chest and around to his strong back.

Suddenly, he pounded into me again and again, hitting the spot that was so desperately needing his attention. “Not yet, baby. Wait for me,” he said grabbing my thighs and spreading them further as he dove deeper.

I was already so close, I didn’t know if I could stop it. I bit my lip to keep from making a sound and tightened every muscle I could control to keep my orgasm at bay.

I opened my eyes to see him. His muscles were flexing as he slid in and out of me. He was biting his lip and holding my thighs so hard his fingertips were turning white. “Are you ready? Come with me, Lennox.”

Finally, I was able to let go. My orgasm exploded so abruptly that when I closed my eyes, I saw stars while my body convulsed around him.

Rules forgotten, I let out a loud moan that filled the bathroom.

As my orgasm washed over me, Mason jerked and filled me, only adding to my pleasure.

I opened my eyes to see him slow to a stop. He was covered in a sheen of sweat as his chest rose and fell quickly. Every muscle on him was hard and tensed. When his ice-blue eyes found mine, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a kiss.

Finally feeling his lips on mine was heaven when I had been yearning for him.

His arms snaked around my waist before picking me up and stepping into the shower.

I woke the morning of our parties wanting to pay Mason back for the night before. I let my eyes roam up his jawline, to his defined cheekbones, and to his closed eyes. He was still asleep.

I trailed my fingertips across his chest before moving my lips to his neck, just below his jaw bone. He let this sound fall from his parted lips that made me wet instantly, but he didn’t stir.

An idea crossed my mind and I got up quietly, tiptoeing to the closet.

I grabbed two of his ties, that he never wore, and slid back into bed beside him.

Both of his arms were already above his head, so tying his wrists together was a piece of cake.

When I was sure he couldn’t get free, I straddled him and began placing kisses down his chest, nibbling as I made my descent.

When I sat back to free him from his boxers, his eyes popped open. He had a sleepy grin on his gorgeous face.

He lifted his head as his ice-blue eyes shined with the morning sun that was streaming through the curtains. “What are you doing?” His voice was thick from sleep.

I offered up a smile before moving him to my mouth.

As soon as he felt my lips around his shaft, his arms jerked.

“You tied me up?” I heard the amusement in his voice, but didn’t stop what I was doing.

“You know I can get out of…” I silenced him by taking him further into my mouth and sliding him back out with a swirl of my tongue.

“What were you saying?” I asked, looking up at him.

I saw his Adams apple bob and his jaw flex before he shook his head and rested it back against his pillow.

  I
let a quiet giggle fall from my lips before continuing with my torture.

I took him as far as I could before sliding him out again, adding in the tongue swirl when he least expected it.

His hips were meeting my motions, his chest was heaving, while every muscle was tensed, fighting for control.

“Len, you have to stop,” he panted out. “I don’t want to come yet.”

Instead, I kept with the tantalizing process.

His breathing came quicker as his hips stilled, unable to move from the sheer pleasure I was giving him.

Before I knew it, he was shattering beneath me. The quiet bedroom was filled with his powerful moan of pleasure.

When his orgasm ended, I sat back and looked at him.

His forehead was covered in sweat and his eyes were closed, trying his hardest to calm himself.

I leaned forward and his eyes popped open. He watched me as I released his wrists.

When he was free, he rolled us over. “I’m not done yet.” He held my wrists down as his lips devoured my own.

We finally pulled ourselves away from one another in time for everyone to pound on the front door.

“Fuck, they’re here,” Mason said jumping from bed. He pulled on a pair of jeans and headed downstairs.

Luckily we had already packed. I jumped from bed and pulled on a pair of jeans with a red tank top and a gray cardigan. I was running down the stairs when they all came inside.

Dane and Trent grabbed our bags and threw them into the cars while Mason ran upstairs to finish getting dressed.

I walked outside with the rest of the group. “So you’re seriously not going to tell me where we’re going?”

“Nope,” Alissa said getting behind the wheel of my Jeep.

“How about you?” I asked Sarah.

“Ain’t gonna happen.” She smiled widely before climbing in the backseat next to Jessica.

Dane and Trent climbed into Dane’s car and I stood outside, waiting for Mason.

He came running out of the door, he paused to set the code and lock up behind us. He jogged over to me and pulled me against him, pressing his lips to mine.
