They hung up reluctantly, both too tired to keep their eyes open. Maya pulled on her shirt before she curled up onto her side and drifted into a satisfied sleep as she smiled softly.
She got up later than planned, showering quickly before she grabbed coffee and looked at her sister and niece curled up watching cartoons in the chair. Maya glanced outside to see that it was sunny outside but undoubtedly cool, so she decided in her mind to wear some leggings with a green dress and some boots with her denim jacket. “You look happy.” Brie told her from the chair as Maya nodded. She’d never reveal what had happened last night but she felt like she was disconnected from her body because she was so happy.
“I think it’ll be a lot of fun.” Maya responded, running her hands through her hair slowly as she sipped her coffee with a soft smile. She headed down into the basement to lay her clothes out and put on some light makeup to brighten her face and show Ginny who she was. Braiding her hair into a messy side braid, Maya smiled and slipped her shoes on with a grin.
Her and Ginny had decided to meet a couple of towns over, just to avoid gossip and be able to relax. Not that eating lunch together would be that weird, but Ginny was a supervisor and they didn’t want her job threatened. Maya drove down the freeway, singing along to the songs that played over her speaker as she enjoyed the sun and the anticipation in her stomach.
The restaurant was quaint and bright, making Maya look at it closely as she parked her car. She checked the mirror to see that her eyes were bright and her skin was glowing, making her laugh as she shook out her hair. She got out of the car, slipping her keys into her small multicolored purse as she hurried up the walkway and pushed open the door. Maya looked around and saw Ginny leaning against the wall dressed in a red dress that was much more casual than anything that she wore to work, along with some black tights and heeled shoes. When she smiled at Maya, she looked beautiful and young and it took everything for Maya not to throw herself into her arms. “Hi.” She greeted her softly instead, walking over slowly as Ginny looked at the waitress with a warm smile.
They were led to a corner table in a garden area of the restaurant, sitting down across from each other as someone brought them fresh glasses of water. Ginny and Maya shared a long look over the menus as they made an effort to look at them, both blushing as they laughed together. “You make me feel like I’m back in college.” Ginny told her softly, looking up as someone came to take their drink order.
Both women ordered iced tea and decided on a couple of the signature sandwiches before they looked at each other again. “Last night was great.” Maya told her in a whisper, looking down at the table.
“It was. You sounded amazing over the phone.” Ginny told her, her eyes heated as she met Maya’s eyes. “I want to take you home today but I don’t know if you’re ready, Maya. Hell, I don’t know if I’m ready but after last night…” Her voice was very soft despite their table being fairly private but every tone vibrated against Maya’s skin as she breathed in slowly. “We’ll take this at your pace.”
Maya thought that her pace would be pretty fast but she forced herself to enjoy the meal and get to know Ginny more, enjoying talking to her more than just their brief conversations in the break rooms in the morning at work. Those were getting harder to pull herself away from and she sensed that Brandon was picking up on something as she seemed to get distracted more and more often.
She learned that Ginny and her husband were just drifting apart, having been together for a while and just going in different directions. Ginny didn’t think that there would be any animosity once it was said and done, it was just that neither of them had said the words. She also apologized to Maya for bringing her into this sooner than she probably should have. She just couldn’t help herself once they started talking and getting to know each other.
They spent a couple of hours talking over lunch, leaving to head to their cars with long gazes and fingers brushing as Maya smiled widely. “Want to take a walk? There’s some shops nearby.”
“I’d like to be alone with you.” Maya told her, slipping her fingers over Ginny’s hand as she felt the heat between them. “Can we go to your place?”
Ginny observed her for a long moment before she smiled softly, looking down at her phone. “I have a sister that lives near her. She’s actually out of town right now so we can check on her dog.” Maya wondered for a moment if she’d ever see Ginny’s house but joined her in her car upon request. The women drove a few streets into town, taking a side street until they pulled onto the driveway of a quaint yellow house with a wraparound porch.
“I like this.” Maya said softly, feeling like her heart was going to beat out of her chest. She got out of the passenger side and walked up to the door as Ginny unlocked it, allowing Maya inside as the barking began.
“Here we go. Lila, baby!” Ginny called out, closing the door as a huge fluffy dog came bounding around the corner that made Maya shrink against the wall. “She’s very sweet once she chills out a little bit, I promise.” Ginny told her, smiling at the girl as she wrapped her arms around the thick neck. “Lila, let’s get you outside for a break and then settle down.” The women walked through the clean bright living room to the fenced in backyard and let the dog run loose as Ginny looked over at Maya. “I’ve never felt as attracted to anyone like I do you, Maya.”
“I know…I get it.” Maya replied, the sounds of the birds and wind fading as she focused on Ginny. The woman stepped closer to Maya as she licked her lips slowly, reaching out to tug the band around the braid with shaking hands. She took both of her hands to loosen the curls out as Maya stared at her, watching Ginny’s eyes grow wild as she tangled the long strands in her fingers. Ginny cupped her face and pulled her closer to kiss her, their lips barely pressed together before she tilted her head and deepened it with desperation and longing. Maya moaned and wrapped her hands over Ginny’s as she returned all of the feelings, pressing her tongue into Ginny’s soft mouth eagerly.
Ginny took everything in the kiss, yet it was so soft and one of the most emotional ones that Maya had ever experienced. She couldn’t stop it as she pressed closer, her hands taking Ginny’s before sliding down her body slowly. She was falling for this woman and she knew that it might break her more than anything had in her life.
The women managed to get the dog in the house before they found a room down the hall, Ginny closing it as she took several deep breaths. “This is my room when I stay here. That’s a lot sometimes these days. Maya…” She stepped forward and kissed her again, hard and long as Maya felt her push her back towards a bed. Maya dropped back, pulling Ginny with her as she ran her hands through her hair to kiss her harder. The fear that had been present since Brent was still there, but none of it was directed at Ginny. Ginny was safe…she was everything right now.
Maya’s jacket hit the floor as she leaned in to kiss Ginny harder, pushing her own shoes off of her feet. Ginny’s heels hit the hardwood floor hard as Maya pushed her back and crawled up her body, kissing her lips and her face as their bodies made a natural turn too easily. Ginny slipped her hands down Maya’s body, gripping her slim hips tightly as their tongues danced together. One hand moved back up, brushing her side over the dress as Ginny’s thumb brushed the underside of Maya’s breast slowly. Maya moaned as she lost her breath for a moment, finding Ginny’s lips to tell her how bad she wanted her.
Ginny moved Maya onto her back, slipping her hands under the hem of the green dress to push it up slowly as she stared into Maya’s eyes. “Do you want this?” Maya nodded and Ginny finished removing the clothing, dropping it onto the floor as she looked over the leggings and faint lavender lace that enclosed her soft pale breasts. “You’re beautiful.”
Ginny leaned over her to trace her nipple through the material, watching it peak as her eyes shimmered with want. She pressed her mouth to it, teasing with her tongue as Maya closed her eyes and groaned. Soon it was her lips and teeth against bare skin, sliding down the leggings as Maya tried to
keep her legs from shaking. She was both cold and hot, timid and torn as they kissed and touched each other. Ginny was soon naked and Maya looked at her in between tentative kisses, stroking her fingers over her skin as Ginny’s body reacted.
Memories of the night before on the phone flooded her mind, making Maya cup her breast and stroke her nipple. She closed her eyes as she sucked it into her mouth, tasting Ginny and her sweet floral perfume on her tongue as she sucked harder. Maya breathed deeper as she slid her hands down Ginny’s body, feeling her inner thigh damp against her fingers as she slipped them closer to her sweet center. “I don’t know what to do.” Maya spoke against skin softly, scared as she watched her hand pause painfully.
“You’re doing great.” Ginny told her, laughing breathlessly. “I barely know what to do myself but damn it if I don’t want to try my hardest to find out.” She leaned up to kiss Maya slowly, running her hand up her thigh slowly. “Let’s learn together.”
They kissed hard, hands moving together as fingers found what they needed to. Maya whimpered as Ginny stroked her softly, finding her fingers doing the same.
CHAPTER SIX
They both came with their fingers inside of one another, hard and fast. Maya memorized the feeling of Ginny’s warmth coating her fingers as she trembled uncontrollably against her, feeling Ginny pull her into her arms to hold her. “My beautiful girl. I’m falling for you so hard.” Ginny calmed Maya, kissing her until they were both worked up all over again. They rolled around until Maya was on top of Ginny, sliding her fingers back inside before stroking her clit again, tasting her fingers as she stared into Ginny’s eyes. She licked her lips and slipped her fingers back inside, watching as Ginny started to lose control. Maya swallowed her fear, moving her face down between her legs to taste her as she stroked faster. Ginny’s hand found her hair and gripped it tightly as she moaned Maya’s name, moving against her as heat exploded, sliding over her fingers and down to her mouth. Maya felt all of her fear slip away as she drank it in hungrily, removing her fingers and sucking right from Ginny to taste it all. Ginny released again or more, Maya wasn’t sure which but she felt herself get pushed back on onto the mattress as she stared up at Ginny.
Ginny’s hair was messy and her eyes crazy as she spread Maya’s legs with shaking hands, her breath short. “I don’t know if I can be gentle with you or if I’ll even know what I’m doing, but I want you spread out like this more than I’ve wanted anything before.” Ginny looked over her body, pink with need and damp with sweat, diving down between Maya’s legs and licking her firmly as Maya closed her eyes and struggled to breathe. Her clit was sensitive and swollen, and every brush of Ginny’s tongue made her buck against her as she begged for more. Ginny slowly bit down and sucked her between her lips, making Maya scream as she came for her without any doubt. Ginny slipped her fingers inside of her wet walls to stroke her into another slow release, watching as Maya threw her head back and cried out her name.
Ginny moved up to snuggle against her, pulling Maya close. The sun was streaming through the window and Maya looked closely at Ginny as she smiled wearily. “I never want to leave this room, Maya. I knew that I was falling for you when we were emailing and testing, even in all of my chaos. I knew how hard I came listening to you that night on the phone, needing to have you like this from that moment on. I know how much more I want you…but I also know that I have to go back to reality.” Maya heard the pain in her voice as she wrapped her arms around Ginny. “I need to pick up Riley and get ready for the week. I don’t want to leave you, Maya.”
They lingered for another half an hour, kissing and bringing each other to release again with hands as their lips locked together. Maya stood up on shaky legs and dressed, fixing the bed as Ginny did the same. Their eyes were locked on each other as they worked quietly together, feeding the dog and petting her thoroughly before they walked out to the car. Maya watched the scenery out of the window as she held Ginny’s hand across the seat, clinging tightly as she felt the day slipping away slowly.
At her own car, Maya looked at Ginny with so many thoughts in her eyes as she licked her lips. Both of them had cleaned up before they left the house and removed any trace visibly of what had happened for anyone else, but it was in both of their faces. Ginny told her that she’d try to call her later with a sad gaze as Maya went to her own car and sat inside for a few moments, twisting her hair in her hands as she realized that it would always be messy and curly. Ginny had told her today to never contain it around her, to never contain herself and Maya started the car and took a deep breath.
They sent texts back and forth that night fervently, hanging onto every word. It reminded Maya of her first crush in high school and the feeling that came with it, multiplied times a million. She barely slept that night, dressing too quickly in a bright orange dress the next day and brown boots, draping her neck with the crystals that Ginny had asked her all about the day before in their down time. She left her hair down and hurried to the car after promising her sister they’d all have dinner that night, driving madly through the traffic as she sipped coffee at stoplights. Maya found her friends in the garage, greeting them with a vague smile as she found Ginny’s car parked across the lot with her eyes focused to see if she was walking into the building as well.
Everything felt tight on her today and Maya rolled her shoulders back in the elevator as she laughed forcibly at something one of her friends say. She said her goodbyes and walked into her office, greeting Brandon as he glanced up from his computer to give her a curious look. “You look like you got laid.” He was blunt, something that she was used to and actually really liked about him until this moment. Maya blushed and he watched her set her coffee down as he chuckled. “I know your private and I won’t ask, but you’re glowing, Maya.”
“I’m happy.” She admitted, smiling widely at him as she glanced at the hallway. That break room meeting would forever be different now and she rose on unsteady legs. “Want some coffee?”
“Sure,” Brandon replied, turning back to his computer as she gathered cups and headed to the break room. She saw Ginny inside, wearing one of her work dresses in a deep plum today, fixing her coffee as she glanced behind her. There was a serene smile on her face as she made eye contact with Maya, who returned it with something similar as she moved beside her to make Brandon’s coffee.
“Morning,” Maya said softly, her skin reacting to Ginny’s closeness as she forced herself to stand still.
“Hello, Maya. How are you?” Ginny asked, her voice veiling her true feelings as they glanced at each other.
“I had a great weekend.” Maya smiled wider. She pressed the button on the machine and hot liquid spilled from the machine.
“So did I.” Ginny replied, sharing another long look with her.
When she got back with the coffee, Maya’s phone chimed on her desk and she slowly took it to read the text.
I miss you.
Somehow she made it through the week, sticking to the work rules but still holding on to every word when they communicated as best they could. Maya was as busy with Gillian as Ginny was with Riley, so they really only had the nights. They seemed to fall into a habit of seeing one another on Sundays, spending their afternoons in hotels where they took the sex further and further and only fell harder for each other. The weeks turned into months and Maya listened to her lover struggle with what was going to happen with Riley’s father as their foundation completely broke.
CHAPTER SEVEN
Phil ended it when Ginny and Maya had been seeing each other for four months. She’d suspected him of cheating and he confirmed it, though it didn’t hurt her for obvious reasons. She confessed to him what she’d been doing as well, shocking her soon to be ex-husband but surprised to find him so accepting of the situation. At the end of it all, Phil and Ginny were parents and friends and they chose to go on with things that way.
They made arrangements for Ginny to stay in the house and a schedule for Riley, with Maya listening to G
inny cry for her daughter that night. That was what she was most worried about and they made plans the following weekend when Phil would have her, staying in the house and making love all night in Ginny’s bed. Maya had never been there before but now she was in her bed and coming in Ginny’s world as her mouth drank her in. It felt surreal to be together after brushing it off with her sister for weeks until she finally confessed that Ginny was ending a marriage as well as the fact that she had a daughter.
“Maya, I mean…she sounds great and you’re happy. Is this the right thing for you though?” Brie asked her late on the night of her confession after Gillian was asleep. She also knew that Ginny was a supervisor by this time at Maya’s job. “It’s so complicated to me.”
“I love her, Brie. I know it’s crazy but I didn’t end the marriage. It was already in the final stages and neither of us wanted things to start like that.” Maya explained, slowly choosing her words. “We’re still low key at the office because the rumors there are insane and she’s already sleeping with a few people since she’s been single., if you believe them.” Maya laughed without humor. “They clearly don’t know Ginny too well.”
“Does she know herself? Is this what she wants or is it just a rebound for her?” Brie asked the question carefully, never having seen her sister so happy with someone before.
“No, it’s not that for her.” Maya sipped her water and swallowed the lump in her throat as she took a breath. “There’s something I didn’t tell you. Ginny is my first person since Brent that I’ve had sex with.” She felt embarrassed to her core talking about this with even Brie, but Maya knew that it would explain a lot.
“That’s like…two years or something.” Brie did the math in her head as Maya nodded. “Nobody else?”
“He forced himself on me one night at the end of us. I wasn’t feeling it and he’d been drinking, and it got pretty ugly and I just gave in. I never did it again with anyone else, much less him. I was relieved when he ended it a couple weeks later.” Maya finally confessed, watching Brie’s eyes brighten with rage.
