‘Do you think David and Soph are coping with the two horrors?’ Ella murmured, her thoughts running on similar lines. Ross and Ruth seemed to create far more than twice the havoc of any other almost-one-year-old, egging each other on shamelessly into one piece of mischief after another.
‘If not, they need the practice. She’s due in a couple of months,’ he pointed out logically, then forced her concentration back on the dance with another series of complex blocks and steps then draped her seductively over his arm so that her breasts were just inches from his face.
‘Seth!’ she hissed, a tingling sensation warning her that her body was becoming visibly aroused by his tricks. Well, two could play at that game, she thought as she circled him, allowing the hand that trailed around his body in her wake to dip dangerously low. She gave in to the temptation to stroke the tight curve of his bottom but wasn’t quite brazen enough to go any further—at least, in public.
Once they got up to their room it would be a different matter.
The rhythm of the dance took over, forging them into something that was infinitely more powerful, more responsive, more provocative than either of them was alone.
This time they were both smiling into each other’s eyes when the music ended and they found themselves surrounded by an appreciative audience.
‘This could become an annual institution,’ Seth murmured as he swept her into a slow waltz and tried to edge surreptitiously towards the door.
‘One of them,’ she pointed out, knowing that his all-too-obvious arousal was only one of the reasons why they were leaving the dance.
‘And the other one?’ he prompted as they stepped into the lift and murmured greetings to the other couple sharing it.
‘Wait and see.’ Ella had to hide her smile, knowing that he’d been hoping the lift would be empty. Now he’d have to wait a couple of minutes before he began his seduction.
He tried to kiss her when they reached their door but she ducked to use the key-card as an excuse to stay out of reach. She didn’t want him to pre-empt all her planning at the last moment.
‘Come here, woman, and tell me what’s going on,’ he growled playfully, wrapping her in his arms as soon as the door closed behind them.
‘Nothing’s going on,’ she said innocently, then glanced deliberately above their heads.
He couldn’t resist following her gaze and she knew he’d understood the message in what he’d seen when that sexy smile crept across his face.
‘You want another mistletoe kiss?’ he asked in a husky voice.
‘What sort?’ she countered.
‘I thought there was only one sort,’ he said with a frown.
‘No. There are definitely two. Both say “I love you”, but only one comes with condoms.’
The love that shone in those pewter grey eyes would always make her heart take an extra beat.
‘Shall we start with the kiss and see which way it takes us?’ he suggested as he lifted her in his arms and took the single step that allowed him to brace her against the wall. ‘With or without mistletoe, it seems to work just perfectly.’
