In the comfort of cold Château de Confiance, Lieutenant Nick Blade thought how touching the letter was when he struck a match and held the paper against the flame. All correspondence by Sergeant John Howard was being forwarded to him as per the orders he had issued. It was only a matter of time before John wrote to Dana.
At the edge of town at Espoirs Brisés Prison, Dana stood facing the cell of her lover and friend. As John looked up, he caught the sadness in her eyes and returned it genuinely. She doubted that he had done the crime and she doubted that he hadn’t. He knew how that felt. Because he doubted that she could be trusted just as much as he doubted she couldn’t. They had become lovers and enemies all at once.

She, children, is the reason why you must make the best use of the knowledge you gain now in 2049 so that good may conquer evil once and for all in the future. A being such as her and the hope she carries with her is why humanity must endure the tyrannical rule of Dr. Zack Temba.”
