An idea struck Sekhara. "Sylvan, may I read your patterns?"
"Will it hurt?"
"No. It might tickle, but I only want to look closely and prefer to have permission." She smiled.
"Then by all means."
Sekhara took a detailed look and her eyes widened at her findings. She flicked her fingers and Criton handed her a data pad. As quickly as she could, she created a map of the thought patterns of a powered-up Vorwing.
When she finished her looking, she rubbed her neck. "Holy stars."
When Haunt looked at the map and brought up the recording of the initial attack, she whistled. "Well, Green, I hate to tell you. You are not alone in the Alliance anymore. There is a powered-up Vorwing out there and he is coming for the Sector Guard."
Curled up in Criton's bed with Maxi at their feet, Sekhara sighed. "I didn't sign on for a war."
"It isn't a war. We are still going to engage in our normal activities. We simply need more personnel on each assignment."
"More Guardsmen?"
He shrugged and she rode his chest as his shoulders moved. "Perhaps, but I think Morganti has been anticipating something of this nature."
"How could they possibly know that this was coming?"
He chuckled. "Seers. Premonitions. Hunches. Whatever you call it, Morganti has always been the base prepared for the vanguard of any action."
"I see, so how are they prepared?"
He ran a hand through her hair and twisted it so that he could hold her head for his kiss. "You are a Minder, you took some Citadel training, you figure it out."
She left her paranoia behind and lost herself to his embrace. The Citadel, yes, that would have the psychically trained personnel that the Sector Guard needed to keep themselves in this dangerous game. Here was hoping that the operatives were up for the challenge…
Author's Note
Thanks for joining me in the Sector Guard.
The Vorwings were first mentioned in Hardcore Green. Sylvan was the first female Vorwing seen in quite a while.
There is only one more book in the numbered Sector Guard series. Pilot in Command. I will tell you how Helen and Hyder first met and how the gears of the Sector Guard started turning.
After Pilot in Command, we will get a little more serious in the first of the Tales of the Citadel. It will be a series that involves psychic warriors teamed with Sector Guard partners. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Thanks for reading,
Viola Grace

About the Author
Viola Grace was born in Manitoba, Canada where she still resides today. She really likes it there. She has no pets and can barely keep sea monkeys alive for a reasonable amount of time. Her line of day job tends to be analytical which leaves her mind hopping to weave stories. No co-worker is safe from her character analysis. In keeping with busy hands are happy hands, her hobbies have included cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilting, costuming, cake decorating, baking, cooking, metal work, beading, sculpting, painting, doll making, henna tattoos, chain mail, and a few others that have been forgotten. It is quite often that these hobbies make their way into her tales.
Viola's fetishes include boots and corsetry, and her greatest weakness is her uncontrollable blush. Her writing actively pursues the Happily Ever After that so rarely occurs in nature. It is an admirable thing and something that we should all strive for. To find one that we truly like, as well as love.
