He tasted of smoke and brandy.

Bree moaned as shivers worked through her. Her clit ached, her pussy tightened in need. She wanted this man beyond anything she’d ever known.

  And it scared her.

He wrapped his arms around her tighter, pulling her closer. Her breasts crushed against unyielding pecs. His cock rubbed between her thighs. Ty ran his hands down her back and grabbed her ass, squeezing, molding.

  Bree’s thoughts scattered.

Primitive urges took over. There was only the now, and it was all that mattered. She kissed him back. Heat rose between and around them. The air crackled.

Like a drug, he swamped her senses, making her forget everything except the feel of his strength against her.

Ty pushed her backwards until she bumped into a row of boxes lined along the wall.

Of their own will, her hands tugged his T-shirt from his jeans to play over the bunched muscles of his back. He shuddered, groaning as his kiss turned harder, hotter.

Reaching between them, he grasped one of her breasts, kneading the softness in his palm.

  Her nipples throbbed, wanting more.

As if he read her mind, he yanked her shirt over her head, barely breaking the kiss. Cool air brushed her skin, but his warmth quickly covered her. He nibbled along her jaw and down her throat. Bree clutched his back, trying to reclaim her thought process through the heat consuming her.

There was a niggling worry deep in her mind. Something she needed to remember.

His lips blazed a trail over the mounds of her breasts, above the pale cream bra. His hands slid up her sides, reaching around to unclasp the lace. It sprang free and Ty tore it from her shoulders, moving lower.

He clamped down on one nipple, tugging, sucking hard.

“Gods,” she whispered as he gave her what she’d wanted from the first time she’d seen him.

She moaned, the sound a heavy sigh of contentment. She gripped his ass, pulling him closer.

Ty groaned, sucking her nipple harder, so hard it almost hurt. It felt so damn good.

Urgency filled her. Bree reached for the button of his jeans, yanking it open and jerking the zipper down.

His cock sprang free, the pale purple tip glistening. The man wasn’t wearing any underwear. It made her all the hotter. She wrapped her fingers around his throbbing length.

Ty inhaled sharply, scraping his teeth over her sensitive nipple.

She cried out, gripping him tighter as the shock plunged straight to her core.

Leaving her breast, Ty nuzzled down her stomach as he ripped open the button of her jeans. He jerked her pants down her hips, leaving her bare but for the scrappy thong.

Rubbing his mouth over her mound, Ty whispered, “You are so sexy. So beautiful.”

A shiver made her shake as he suckled her clit through the underwear, his hot mouth making her ready for so much more.

Clutching his shoulders, Bree leaned against the boxes as he pushed her thighs as far apart as the jeans wrapped around her ankles would allow.

His mouth worked over her, teasing through the thin cloth before he hooked the thong with his finger and ripped them away.

“Useless underwear,” he grumbled, his breath caressing her sensitive skin.

He pushed his tongue between her thighs, plunging inside her, while his thumb worked over her clit.

Her body blazed, hotter than she’d ever experienced before. The air around them crackled, sparks flashing.

She jerked up, reality coming back to her. Gripping fistfuls of his hair, she pushed Ty away, though it was torture to do so.

“We can’t do this,” she panted.

“Why not? We want each other. We’re both obviously magic—no disease, no babies.”

“I’m…” She swallowed, fighting the urge to straddle him and take his cock into her. “I’m dangerous.”

“So am I, lovey.” Ty winked, straining against her hold to reach her throbbing, needy pussy.

“No, I could hurt you. Sex with me…”

“Honey, trust me. I’m a dragon. You can’t hurt me.”

  “I’m fire.”

He stopped fighting against her hold, his eyes widening, mouth dropping open. “A true elemental?”

“A Nymph,” she whispered, something in the pit of her stomach curling up in emptiness.

Ty sat back on his heels, his bright white gaze flashing. “A fire elemental. Wow.”

His jaw tensed and he met her gaze, his eyes slowly turning back to blue. A grin crept across his lips. Lips she wanted back on her body. “You’re fire. I’m fire. We’ll be fine.”

Bree wasn’t prepared when he jerked from her hold and licked her, his teeth scraping across her flesh.

The heat coming from them both engulfed her. She’d watch, make sure her power didn’t flame out of control. But she couldn’t say no to taking this man, to drinking in everything he was willing to give.

With a deep moan, she gave herself over to the undeniable need.

  Chapter Four

Ty licked her soft, tasty pussy, teasing her as he slipped his tongue inside her heat. She was wet, ready, but he wanted to take things as slow as he could while he still had some semblance of control.

  So, she was fire.

  He liked fire.

The woman wiggled, another moan escaping. Her hands tangled in his hair, intermittently tugging him closer and urging him faster.

He still didn’t understand this burning between them, but was long past caring. He had to have this woman.

  Now.

He jumped to his feet. Staring into her flaming eyes, Ty spread her thighs then slammed his cock home.

Her tight sheath clenched around him, squeezing tight, drawing him deeper. Bree’s eyes fluttered closed as she reached to grasp his hips.

Control fled. He lost it to the animalistic need burning him from the inside out. He pumped his hips, plunging into her.

Her nails scraped his ass as she cried out, “Gods yes.” Already she tightened around his cock.

He watching the orgasm play over her delicate face. Capturing her mouth, he plundered. She tasted like spiced pumpkin pie.

As she shouted into his mouth, he lost the last shreds of thought. His balls tightened as he came, pulsing his seed. Yelling hoarsely, he licked her lips, enjoying it when she sucked his tongue and nipped at his lips, his jaw. She nibbled down his neck, kissing his Adam’s apple.

She still spasmed around his length, draining every last drop of energy and semen he had.

His movements slowed. Breathing heavily, he leaned his forehead against hers.

She smiled, a satisfied cat, as her hands lightly drifted over his back and ass. Slowly her eyes opened, once more a melting brown, though deeper, a flicker of fire lingered.

  “Wow,” she whispered.

  “Mmm,” he replied, drawing away.

Bree nudged the toolbox she’d dropped earlier. “I have clean towels in there.”

Ty hunkered down and searched through the disarray in the box, finding a white cloth. He knelt before her and cleaned her off, staring into her sensuous eyes the whole time.

  Done, he attended himself.

Bree rose, redressed, then started organizing her box. A minute later, she snapped the lock closed and stood, box in hand. “Thank you. Now I need to get to work.”

Her expressionless face struck the wrong chord.

Ty said nothing as she hurried out the door, disappearing from view. Instead, he sat on one of the boxes, trying to figure out where this burning had come from.

And why, Bree turning away as if what they’d just done hadn’t meant a thing, made him so doggone frustrated.

  * * *

Bree hurried to the stage, but she could only stare at the tangle of wire.

What the hells had just happened?

He was a stranger, for crying out loud.

She’d never done something so stupid before in her life. Wild sex with a man she didn’t even know.
>
Sure, she knew of his family’s company. Dragos Pyrotechnics was popular all over the world. A good company, reputable. In fact, where she ordered most of her supplies from.

But that didn’t tell her anything about the man she’d just left.

Drawing a shaky hand over her face, she clenched her teeth and started trying to untangle the mess of wires.

  Holy hells.

It was as if her magic recognized something about him. Because he was a dragon?

She didn’t know, and she was determined not to find out, either.

His scent drifted to her as he came out of the backstage hallway, sending her lust raging once more.

He might be the one that would approve her pyro setup, but that didn’t mean she had to be around him again.

  Ever.

Because even now, she wanted to run to him, and ravish his sexy body all over again.

  * * *

Ty tried all day to find a moment alone with Bree, but as if fate conspired against him, someone always showed up to interrupt. Between her finishing the pyrotechnics, everyone pulled into helping set up the stage for the concert, and him signing off on the license forms, they both kept busy.

Finally, a half-hour before the show, Ty managed to corner the elusive woman and drag her to a front row seat.

When he refused to let her pull away, she grudgingly sat next to him, her discomfort obvious. “I need to—”

“You need to sit, rest, and talk to me.”

“What’s there to talk about?” she said lightly. “We were turned on. We had sex. One time only. It’s done now.”

He didn’t know why, but resentment welled at her words. “Then explain to me why the sight of you is still driving me crazy.”

“You got me,” she replied, but the way she fidgeted in her seat said she was just turned on as him. Though the woman might seem outwardly calm and controlled, she was nowhere close.

“How much do you know about dragons?” he asked, mesmerized by the way flames flickered in the depths of her dark eyes.

“You breathe fire. Roast and eat cows whole, sometimes villagers too, then fly away to hoards of treasure and captive virgins.”

He scowled. “We do no such thing.”

  “Not anymore I guess.”

  “Never.”

  “Okay, then.”

“Have you ever heard of the dragon burn?”

  “No.”

“It’s inflamed by the call of the moon. A fire in the blood, compelled desire, as destiny shows a dragon their true mate.”

Her eyes widened as she paled. “I am not your mate.”

“No.” Otherwise he’d be running for the hills rather than trying to figure out this little nymph. “This wasn’t even brought on by moonlight. Which is why it’s so confusing.”

  Chapter Five

Bree stared at the stage, considering Ty’s words. She hadn’t studied much about other supernatural creatures, concentrating mostly on information about her own kind. It wasn’t interest, but self-preservation.

Growing up in foster homes, all human, there’d been no one to ask about her magic or powers. Only when she turned fourteen, and suddenly started spouting flames when her emotions ran high, had she even figured out she wasn’t human herself.

No, studying other mythical beings had always been far from the top of her to-do list. Yet this man was telling her this intense desire between them was mystical.

  His mate?

Destiny was a bitch who didn’t like to be ignored. Bree knew when a nymph found their true mate, destiny showed it by causing a fiery raging lust. Was it like this dragon burn Ty spoke of?

  Bree snorted. Not likely.

Sure, they’d had great sex—and her magic hadn’t tried to burn him to a crisp—but it didn’t mean a thing.

  Just a good time.

The opening act began to play on stage, the lights dimming. The crowd around them became dim shadows.

Music pounded into her, thrumming through her body. She could smell Ty, feel his body heat pressing against her. Gods, she’d never been overpowered by with such strong, immediate desire before.

  And with a dragon?

A chuckle escaped. While she’d known they existed, Bree had never actually met one. So why now?

  With him?

The one other fire nymph she’d met while travelling cross-country with the band hadn’t even caught her interest that way. Yet as a man, he’d been just as attractive as Ty.

The opening act finished to muted applause. Screams erupted as the Grave Diggers took the stage, their music loud and furious.

Bree sat straighter, keeping an eye on the lights panel at the end of the stage. As the band got to the first chorus, the top row of eight lights started blinking.

Donovan screamed out the first line. The first light turned red.

A burst of fire shot from center stage, glowing behind the lead singer, casting him as a black dancing figure.

  “Nice,” Ty said beside her.

Wrapped up in the pyro events, she’d hoped to be able to ignore his presence. She tried harder as the lights on the panel turned red one by one, and flames shot up around the stage on cue. She was the band’s pyro. She needed to make sure everything continued as planned.

Intermission came and went. She and Ty staying in their seats, silent. Every fiber of her being screamed with the need to touch him, making her fear the loss of control once more.

As the band began their last number, the panel glowed bright with the many lights controlling the finale.

Icy shivers crawled down her spine as someone’s gaze burned the back of her neck. Bree sat up, searching the darkness.

  Her watcher was back.

A low, irritating hum buzzed in her ears. From onstage, the first spray of fire arced across the stage. The hum grew louder, blocking the music of the band. The second spray of fire blasted above the stage.

  Then, screaming pierced the humming.

Onstage, Donovan stumbled, spinning. He jerked like a puppet losing its strings as he backpedaled.

Bree jumped to her feet, racing for the stage.

Fire blazed near the backup singers. The three women, nearly still girls, really, were surrounded by a circle of flames. Bree reached the edge and leapt up, almost crashing onto the stage in a half-crouch. Ty landed next to her, upright, and ran for the singers. Bree followed.

Flames licked along the wooden stage, spreading in both directions, creeping out while drawing closer to the huddled, crying girls.

Ty jumped over the ring of fire as if it didn’t exist. Shock and awe coursed through her at his lack of fear.

Bree ran through it, heat trying to scorch her legs and arms. She took it in, devouring it. Energy filled her as her magic ate the fire.

Ty grabbed two of the singers and dashed from the flaming circle.

Bree grabbed Kari by her waist, easily lifting the girl. “Close your eyes and hold on tight.”

Kari grabbed her so hard it cut off Bree’s ability to breathe.

Gripping the girl tight, Bree took a running start, leaping above the flames higher than humanly possible. As she reached the edge of the stage where Ty was letting the two girls cling to him, the crowd broke out in pandemonium.

On stage, Donovan ran in circles, screaming shrilly for help, though he was in no danger.

  The idiot.

From somewhere far above the open roof, a loud, booming bellow sounded. As if a storm was rushing near, a whirlwind of air funneled into the stadium, sending sparks from the fire glittering in the air toward the fleeing crowds.

“Take them,” Ty stated. “I have a job to do.” With those confusing words, he unceremoniously pushed the other two singers at Bree, before disappearing into the crowd.

Ricky, the drummer, hurried to Kari’s side, clutching her protectively and looking around as if in a daze. “What happened, Bree?”

“I don’t know. Take the girls—I need to help get this fire out.” She spun a
nd headed back to the blaze growing over the stage. After making sure no one was paying attention to her, Bree took a deep breath.

Above her, a piercing screech rang out. Bree stumbled. High in the dark night sky, as if in a dance, two enormous dragons circled in the air. The larger one, pure white scales shimmering in the moonlight, whipped a long spiked tail at the other one.

The smaller dragon was a dark green, the color overlaid by a dingy, oily black.

Bree’s heart stuttered as she took in the sight.

Sure, Ty had said he was dragon. But his immense size, his majestic beauty... Staring at the mesmerizing white dragon above, she knew with certainty it was him.

  Could only be him.

  Chapter Six

Ty swooped through the air, currents pushing him higher above the stadium. The Other, a corrupted dragon of dark magic, bellowed as it dove, scraping claws along one of Ty’s unprotected wings.

He roared in fury, wanting to breathe fire at the creature, but the move was too dangerous with all the people beneath them.

Twisting in the air, Ty slammed the spikes at the end of his tail against the creature’s side.

It screamed in pain. Green eyes wide, the Other opened its mouth and blew unnatural black flames.

Ty bucked, using the air currents to dodge the powerful, debilitating false fire. Teeth nipped his leg. He raked claws down the dragon’s side, then flapped his wings, lifting higher, angling away from the populated area below. The Other followed.

When he was ready, Ty folded his wings and dove through the air. He crashed into the Other, pushing it further from the stadium.

It shrieked, twisting and clawing. Talons dug deep into Ty’s side, and the scent of blood spiked sharply in the air.

  * * *

Bree stood frozen as the large white dragon pushed the other one further from the stadium. Someone shouted her name, bringing her back to the stage. The flames were drawing closer.

Raising her hands, she concentrated on her inner being. Slowly, her vision changed, everything sharpening into focus. The air became a colorful array of reds, yellows and oranges. Heat and fire.

Taking a step closer, Bree drew the colors into herself. The heat burned along her skin, her arms, slipping beneath her clothes and moving over her chest, stomach and legs.
