I feel light-headed, as if the air has been sucked out of our room. I’m quite stunned by his words. So much so that I remain unable to speak and respond to his confession. I’ve been dreaming of this moment for months now and it’s happing right now.
“You’re too quiet. Okay, I see. Maybe you don’t feel the way I do...” His words trail off and I immediately panic because my inability to respond to his sweet confession is making him doubt.
“No, no, no,” I blurt out awkwardly.
“No, you don’t feel the same way I do?”
Compose yourself.
“Bryce, I’m stunned, shocked and elated. Well, there are about five hundred other feelings going through my body right now because you caught me totally off guard. I never expected this. I mean, I’ve loved you since the big gala, but I never imagined a man like you would feel the same way. I love you too, Bryce,” I say, on the verge of tears.
He gets up from his chair so quickly that it falls behind him. He takes a step toward me and towers over me with his presence.
“I fucking love you,” he yells.
