“What?” Walt perched on the edge of the desk, looking down at Danielle.
“I just received another email from your cousin.”
“Did he up his offer on the portraits?”
“No, but he accepted my offer.”
“Your offer?”
“He wants to make a reservation for himself, his fiancée and the artist he has commissioned.”
“Artist?” Walt frowned.
“The artist is going to make a reproduction of your portraits. I guess your cousin is no longer pressing me to sell him the originals; he’ll keep the reproductions. The soonest the artist is available is March. He wants the portraits finished before his wedding this summer, since they’re for his bride.”
Walt frowned. “Didn’t you say he’s bringing his fiancée?”
“Yes. Why?”
“If the portraits are intended as a wedding gift, I just assumed he would want them to be a surprise.”
“I guess not.” Danielle shrugged. “What do you think about him coming here?”
“I’m not sure. But what difference does it really make?”
More than you can imagine, the Universe answered. However, neither Walt nor Danielle were paying attention to what the Universe was trying to tell them.
