“That’s real good. You know how we feel about strangers in our business, Savage!” He pushes my shoulder against the door and I wince from the pain.

I don’t even bother going to my next classes. I run out the door and run to my car. Once I’m inside, the tears cascade down my face. I cry because of Isaac and I cry more because I know that there is going to be nothing that happens. There is no way that we can be together, I know that. What the hell are we going to do? We can’t be anything.

My nose is running, I feel my mascara running down my face. I know I look a mess and the thought of going back to school is horrifying. Never have I ever skipped class before and I’m thinking this is a perfect reason for it.

Before I can even pull out of my parking spot, I hear a tap on my door.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Isaac

There’s no mistaking Kennedy when she runs past my classroom window with tears rolling down her cheeks. It was one of those proverbial “booms” as I watch her run past me and I knew I had to go and talk to her. Obviously, she’s upset something, I hate that she is probably upset about me.

In order to save my ass, I need to talk to her and make sure she doesn’t say anything. The absolute last thing that I need is this scandal. I can just read it now: Brand New Teacher Fucks Student!

Granted, we have slept together, but they always spin it to be so much more than what actually happened. And they probably wouldn’t say “fuck.”

  You get the picture.

Kennedy rolls down the window and shows me her tear stained face. “What’s going on?” I demand and step closer to the vehicle. I’m hoping if I’m close enough, no one will be able to know that it’s me standing here like a smuck.

The mascara that’s running down her cheeks stabs me in the gut and I feel like shit because I’m about to try to convince a teenager to pretend that I almost didn’t sleep with her. There’s a special place in hell for people like me. “Go away, Mr. Emerson.”

“Don’t give me that shit, Kennedy. You lied to me about your age! Do you even realize how much trouble you could get me in? Like prison time.”

Her tears stop rolling down her face and a mask has covered her face. “That’s what you are worried about?” Kennedy’s eyes harden and she looks at me with new resolve. “I never lied to you. You never asked me. I told you that I wanted to study science and that’s true. But don’t worry, no one will know about you. I’m more embarrassed than you. Go away.”

  “Stop being a-”

“A child? A teenager? Your student?” Her questions sound like badgers and knives as they fly out at me.

One thing that really is starting to worry me. “Why are you so angry at me? Kennedy, I didn’t do anything wrong.”

She sticks her chin in the air and looks out the windshield. “Leave me alone.” Before I can interject, she’s rolling up her window and starting the car.

Forbidden is far from being over.

Isaac and Kennedy will be back!
