“Time to go,” he said under his breath. She nodded and he finished up his drink before dropping down some cash on the table and walking out of the lounge with his hand on her lower back. He handed his ticket to the valet driver and the two of them waited in silence. He wrapped his hand around her waist and pulled her in closer so their sides were pressed against each other. Though it did not happen often there were times the women he would spend the night with were very forward with what type of exchange they would be sharing. He particularly enjoyed the nights with these women because they were never full of doubt, they never hesitated, and they never felt any type of guilt about what they were doing. Both he and the woman knew what this was about from the start and were not afraid to go for it. In a few short minutes, the valet driver pulled up in his luxury import sedan and walked around to open the door for Brenna. Nathaniel tipped him generously before slipping into the driver’s seat and buckling his seat belt.

As they pulled out of the driveway Brenna looked out the window and smirked. It was a satisfied sort of smirk and Nathaniel caught it before it disappeared from her lips but said nothing. “I finally get to see where the famed Nathaniel Gates lives,” she said in a somewhat amused tone. He shrugged as if it was not a big deal but it actually was. Not many people were ever invited personally to his home and even fewer were able to spend the night. Even the women he had sex with rarely got to sleep over. That would not be any different tonight but he had a feeling it would not come as any sort of surprise to her given her behavior and attitude from the start.

  Chapter Two: Sex and Run

They pulled into the driveway of his condominium complex and another valet hurried over to take his keys and park his car. He lived in one of the city’s most expensive and exclusive buildings complete with a very secure check-in system that made sure only approved guests went in and out aside from the tenants. They walked over to the elevators and he pulled out a key, inserting next to the call button before pushing it. The elevator to the left opened and he stepped in, motioning for her to follow right after. Once inside, she realized there was not a selection of buttons for different floors. He hit the close button before pressing the only other button at the top, marked with only a star. They traveled up for a couple minutes and she could feel they were likely heading to the top of the building. Sure enough, the elevator opened up to a very large and modern but welcoming foyer of the building’s penthouse. “Wow,” she breathed out. She knew he was a billionaire but was still completely awestruck taking in even just the entry of his penthouse condominium. It was the type of place one might see in a movie or an upscale furnishings magazine. It was the type of place one did not imagine people actually lived in simply because it all seemed too beautiful, expensive, and surreal.

He chuckled as he dropped his keys and wallet into a bowl on the table standing off to the side of the foyer. “Follow me,” he said. She did not hesitate but did walk slow enough to take in the sights around her. His place was sleek and modern but definitely not cold, which was something she actually found quite surprising. She always thought, and it was a common thought amongst many people, Nathaniel seemed the type to live in a very cold and unwelcoming place. It was not that he was like that. He was incredibly charming and sociable but there was something about him that gave off that impression. Perhaps it mostly came down to the amount of money under his name and how he chose to spend it and his free time. He did, after all, have quite a reputation as a womanizer that was kept well under wraps from the public. It was also surprising given many places with a very sleek and modern look were not exactly homey. And while his place was not that, it was somewhat close to it. She felt comfortable and suspected this also helped in his endeavors. He had such an ability to draw people out of the shells and push them to limits they always wanted to approach but were too afraid to actually do so.

He led her off down a long hallway where they passed by many doors that were mostly closed. She did not even try to peek in through the craps for fear it would not reflect well on her. She also did not want to invade his privacy. She was an invited guest in his home for the time being but that did not entitle her to go snooping around in places he may not have wanted to people to enter. He finally opened a door at the end of the hallway to reveal what she assumed was the master bedroom. As soon as she walked in, he pulled her into a kiss that lingered for a few seconds before he pulled back and he looked at her. His eyes were heavy with lust and she knew it would not be long before her own eyes had the same look in them. He pulled her body in until her was pressed up against him and he kissed her again. He ran the tip of his tongue over her lower lip until she parted them and he slipped his tongue into her mouth in order to deepen the kiss. She let out a soft moan as he kissed her deeply. He then pulled back and kissed along her jawline and down to her neck, landing right at her collarbone. He gave a gentle suck before darting his tongue out to lick over that area. He continued kissing down along the line of her collarbone before licking back up along it until he reached her neck again. He then sucked on her neck a bit harsher than he had her collarbone and for a longer time as one of his hands wandered from her back over to her side.

Brenna arched her back slightly and let a long breath escape from her lips. He pulled back and grasped her shoulders, turning her so her back was to him. He slowly zipped her dress down, very lightly grazing the skin of her back with his knuckles. She simply stood there enjoying the sensations of the light contact as her excitement grew. The dress slipped easily off her body and landed on the floor. She stepped out of it and he wasted no time in pulling her back in for a kiss. She began to slowly walk with him toward the bed until she managed to push him onto it. He sat up and stared at her with surprise in his eyes.

She wore the same satisfied smirk he had seen earlier but said nothing about. Once again he chose to dismiss it. She ran her hand over her bared torso and up over her bra until she was lightly grazing her own cleavage with her fingertips. She leaned down and kissed him deeply while taking the chance to press her boobs against his chest. She pulled back from him looking slightly disappointed but before he could ask why, she reached down and grasped the hem of his shirt. She pulled it up and off of him, tossing it casually across to the other side of the room. He grabbed her hand and tugged a bit and at this she climbed on and straddled him, taking his face between her hands and kissing him again. His hands wandered across her back and up her sides, enjoying the feeling of her warm and soft skin under the palms of his hands. She reached back and grabbed one of his hands to then guide it back to the clasp of her bra. Without missing a beat, he unhooked it and slid it down off her arms. It was at that moment she chose to being grinding down on his erection, still under his pants and boxers and they both let out a groan of pleasure from the feeling of it. As she continued to dry hump him he kissed down along her neck until he reached her boobs. She began to breathe a lot faster and heavier than she had been until now. He tightly gripped both sides of her waist and pulled her body even closer to him as he took one of her hardened nipples in his mouth. She let out a sharp gasp just as one of his hands moved from her waist to her other boob in favor of fondling it.

She arched her back very slightly as she gave in fully to the sensations he was providing her with. When her hands began to run through his hair, he finally pulled back and looked up to meet her gaze. He grabbed her by the waist again, more firmly this time, and rolled her over to the right until she was lying on the bed. He climbed over her and lowered his hips until his erection was rubbing against her, creating a friction both that caused both of them to groan despite the lack of skin on skin contact. As he continued on to dry hump her, he also kissed down along the side of her neck until he reached her breasts. Her panting increased even more when he flicked each of her nipples with the tip of his tongue. He stood back up and removed her panties before taking off his pants and boxers. He reached into the nightstand and grabbed a condom, waving in front of him so she could see it. She nodded and sa
t up, taking it from his hand to unwrap it. She threw the wrapper off to the side and unrolled the condom over his pulsing cock before lying back on the bed.

He climbed back over top her and rubbed the head of his cock up and down her slit a couple times before sliding his entire length into her. She moaned and arched her back immediately from how it felt for him to fill her. He began thrusting at a moderate pace while keeping one hand planted on her hip and the other on the bed next to her head. He continued thrusting like this until his grunts grew louder and his hips began to jerk forward as he came. He pulled out of her and immediately walked into the bathroom to throw the condom into the trash bin before cleaning off. By the time he stepped out he saw Brenna was already finishing up getting dressed and ready to go. He leaned against the arch of the doorframe and stared at her with an eyebrow raised, surprised at her vigor in getting out of the place so quickly. He had to admit this was a first, even with a woman who already knew what she was getting into. She put on her shoes and looked up at him with a smirk. “Time to go,” she said casually. She stood up and walked over to the bedroom door before gingerly placing her hand on it and turning to look at him over her shoulder. “Have a good night,” was all she said before walking out. He heard the elevator ding and knew she would be gone by the time he walked out to see her off.

He walked down the hallway and over to the foyer anyway, noting the elevator doors were now shut and the mechanism was not on. She was gone. He rubbed his hand through his hair still feeling very surprised at the way she had carried herself the entire evening but focused on her leaving. There was no way he would have expected that but he appreciated it. He was glad he did not have to ask her to leave or walk her out. It was not as if he was a lazy jerk who just did not feel like walking a woman out, he just liked the meaning behind it. She had been in this for, presumably, the same reason as him and none of it bothered her.

“If ever there were a woman I might be interested in seeing again, it’s her,” he mentioned to his friend the next day over lunch at an upscale and overpriced lunch bistro right at the heart of the business district. “But she is exactly the kind of woman who would not see me again,” he added before taking a large bite from his sandwich. His friend, who only seemed mildly interested, was picking at his salad but remained quiet. He took a large mouthful of the leafy, green food and looked at Nathaniel, waiting for more to be said. He had always been more of a listener in any situation, really. “I’m not saying I want to. I definitely don’t. But she’s the only one who I would consider maybe seeing again,” he repeated before taking another bite of his sandwich. He chewed slowly and purposefully, as his mind got lost in thoughts about dating. It was not as if he had never dated anyone or had some kind of romantic interest in a woman. That was not the case at all. He was also not traumatized from a past relationship or cynical. It was simply that he preferred to live a fun, carefree personal life for the time being. And given how easy it was for him there was no reason to change his lifestyle any time soon.

Chapter Three: May I Speak With You, Mr. Gates?

He finished up his lunch and headed back to his office, where he was greeted with a very big surprise. “May I speak with you, Mr. Gates?” His secretary was standing tensely in the arch of his office’s doorway. He nodded and sat back in his chair as she stepped inside and closed the door behind her. She walked over to the chairs across him and took a seat. It was not until that moment he noticed she was holding an envelope in her hand. “Mr. Gates,” she began in a very serious tone of voice, “I have learned a lot working with you and I am very grateful to have had this opportunity. It was with regret that I must turn this in.” She placed the envelope on the desk in front of him and he realized it was a resignation letter. “I have already lined up interviews with three candidates and checked your schedule to make sure you’re free to meet with them. I am sorry for bringing this up so suddenly, please believe me when I say it is an extenuating circumstance.”

He was not mad or even bothered a bit. They had worked together for years. If anything, he was sad to be losing such a great assistant. At the mention of extenuating circumstances, he worried about her well-being but decided against prying and crossing any kind of business and personal line. He told her everything he was thinking in addition to thanking her for finding candidates to take on the job. He took her resignation letter but did not open it until she had exited his office, closing the door after walking out in order to give him some privacy and time to think. There was no mention or detail about the extenuating circumstances in her resignation letter either, which indicated to him it was not something she cared to disclose. He placed the letter back in the envelope before stuffing it into one of his drawers, leaning back against his chair and wondering what could have brought this one so suddenly. He also hoped at least one of the candidates would be suitable for the job.

He would not have to wait long to find out. He would be interviewing all three later that afternoon. What he thought would be a relatively free and clear schedule, a huge rarity for him, was now full with something he was not at all prepared for. No matter, he appreciated his assistant’s hard work until the very end. He believed they would be hard-pressed to find anyone as hard working and thoughtful as her but then he reasoned she had set the bar a bit too high and he might need to adjust those expectations. Over time, he could come to learn more about his new assistant and craft suitable expectations around that person’s strength without sacrificing any of his beliefs or bringing any potential harm to his company.

However, after the first two candidates the outlook was not so great. He was not even optimistic about the final candidate given how the first two interviews had gone. “They weren’t like this when I pre-screened them,” she assured him minutes before the third candidate was set to walk in.

“I’m sure they were not,” he reassured her. But this was yet another reason this process was so important. Many strong candidates seemed to crumble in front of the boss and that was a weakness he could not afford to bring into his company. He understood why many found him intimidating and the interview was likely much more stressful than the average job interview but there was a limit to how much slack he could cut a potential employee at this phase of the hiring process. Without high hopes, he waited in his office as his assistant walked out to escort in the next and final interviewee.

She walked in with great grace and composure. That was, in all honesty, the first thing that caught his attention. She stood in front of him and, with an outstretched hand, said, “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Gates.” He stood and took her hand only to receive a firm and professional shake from her. Everything about her was strong, collected, and highly professional. She even had the aura of a person who could be highly trusted and effective. In that moment, his prospect on hiring a new assistant changed completely. Perhaps he would be able to find a suitable new person to work with. After all, she had some very big shoes to fill. He went through the motions of asking the standard interview questions and she answered each one with such honesty and ease he was actually taken aback. Not even his current assistant had made as strong a first impression on him years ago on the day of her interview. Of course he was comparatively inexperienced to how he was now so he did not know what to look for and how to handle himself as well as he currently did. For the first time since he could remember, he was not bored listening to tired and rehearsed answers. He actually looked forward to asking every question and listening to what she had to say.

Her name was Velma and she would be his new assistant starting the following day. “That was a very strong impression she made,” he commented to his assistant as they wrapped up the workday after processing the hiring paperwork for Velma. She nodded and smiled knowingly. “I had a feeling you would like her best. There is a reason I saved her interview for last,” she told him. He chuckled and closed his briefcase, still astounded at how well she knew him. No matter what great of an impression Velma had made, he had to wonder if she wo
uld be able to know him as well as his current assistant did. He looked over at the clock to read it was a minute past 5 o’clock. “You are officially no longer my assistant,” he told her.

She looked over at him from the filing cabinet and smiled softly. He had never noticed the subtle sweetness of her facial features. With the light from the setting sun washing over her face she looked as if she had a soft glow coming from her. “I’m going to miss working for you, Mr. Gates,” she told him as she closed the drawer of the filing cabinet and turned to look at him. She was looking him right in the eye but it was not in the typical ways most women looked at him. Those women who were not looking at him with desire or want, looked at him with something similar to disgust. Not necessarily disgust, that was too harsh a word to describe it. It was more like purposeful indifference, as if they wanted to make a point and be sure he saw they had absolutely no interest in him for any reason. He never understood the purpose of doing that but he simply shrugged it off and moved on. There was no reason to give attention to those who so desperately sought it out, particularly those who wanted to pretend as if getting his attention did not matter or was something undesirable.

He understood that, as a womanizer, some people may look down on him and that was okay. As long as the women he got involved with were fully aware of what they were agreeing to and consented, he saw no reason why it should bother anyone else. Of course people had their opinions of how one should live their life according to their own code of ethics and he respected that wholeheartedly. But where he drew the line was at being judged or deliberately mocked for it, though instances like those were few and far between. In any case, his assistant was looking at him in a way that was completely unfamiliar but it gave him a very positive feeling he greatly appreciated. He reached into the top drawer of his desk and pulled out a stack of note cards. On it he wrote his personal phone number and email address before handing the card to her. “If ever you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me.” She took the card and studied carefully, her eyes filling with gratitude. She looked up to meet his gaze and he added, “It’s been a great pleasure working with you. And, believe me, when I say I hope we can keep in contact I do mean it.”
