“I got you. I’ll handle the shit,” I said walking back toward the front doors. My mind was already racing. It was obvious Rigs bitch ass had gone into hiding. But where he fucked up was thinking he could hide from me, City fucking Bailey. I was gonna find him and his bitch ass mother no matter what it took.

I hopped into my car again, but my phone rang, breaking my concentration. It was my mom.

I answered quickly meaning to tell her I would call her back later.

“Dominic, I’m at the hospital,” she said, and she sounded breathless.

“I gotta call you back ma,” I said about to hang up.

“No, Dominic, don’t hang up,” she said before I could end the call. “You have to come now. Your father. He woke up.”

I’d only been driving for 10 minutes after my mother hung up in my face when City called me. From the minute I answered the phone I knew something had happened just from the sound of his voice. When he told me his father was awake, and I needed to come to the hospital, I immediately turned my car around and headed to Miami Regional.

I couldn’t imagine what he was thinking or feeling. All I knew was I wanted to be with him to give him the support he needed. Plus if his father was awake, maybe he could give some information about what happened and who was behind the wheel of the car.

Twenty minutes later I was pulling into the parking lot and jumping out the car. I walked down the hall and to the elevators to the third floor where I knew his room was. As the elevators opened, the bitch, Monica stepped out in her aqua colored scrubs. She had her head down looking at a folder in her hand but when she looked up and saw me her eyes got wide. Seeing her brought the anger I felt the other night at the club rushing back, and it took everything in me not to run up on her again. But I knew if I did they would throw me out this hospital and City needed me.

I stared her down until she broke my gaze and stepped around me out the elevator.

“That’s right, keep it moving bitch. Keep that same energy every time you see me,” I shouted after her as I stepped in the elevator. She kept walking as I watched her right before the elevator door closed. With friends like her who needed enemies.

As I walked up to City’s father's hospital room, I was nervous as far as what to expect. Turning the corner, I paused at the door out of respect. In the room, City was right by the head of the bed holding on to his father's good hand. His father was sitting up in the bed looking relatively alert. The moment I saw him I saw the resemblance to City immediately. They had the same complexion and the same eyes. The same strong jawline and nose. It was like I was looking at City 30 years from now. City’s mom was standing on the other side of the bed, and Guwop was sitting in a chair on the far side of the room. Two doctors in white coats and one nurse were in the room also, one of them was talking to City.

I stood by the door and waited for a minute. City looked toward me and motioned for me to come in. I waved at his mother as I walked in and stood beside City.

“We got the results of the cat scan back, and nothing looked concerning or alarming at this time,” the doctor was explaining. “The broken bones will still need some weeks to heal, and we want to keep him for at least another week to monitor his brain activity but as you can see, he is responsive, and it looks like he will make a full recovery.”

“I feel good,” City’s dad said in a low, deep voice and then he chuckled. “I really want to get back to my own shit, to be honest. This hospital bed is making my ass numb.”

City cracked up laughing, and I giggled. I saw immediately where City got his mouth from.

“I’ll leave you to catch up with your family. But I’ll be back in a couple hours with some more pain meds,” the doctor said before they both left the room followed by the nurse.

“Pops, I’m glad you awake man. You had me worried like a motherfucker,” City said grabbing his fathers shoulder.

He smiled at him then looked over at me. “So who’s this pretty one you got in my room? Shoulda told me we would be having company so I could have shaved or some shit.”

I laughed and stepped up to shake his hand. “Hi, Mr. Bailey. I’m Bo. I’ve heard so much about you. It's nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you too. I hope my son not fuckin up with you. If he is, come find me. I’ll set him straight,” he said.

  “Pops chill,” City said chuckling.

“He thinks I’m playin,” Michael said shaking his head then looked over to City’s mom. “Your son stubborn just like you.”

“Like me?” Dahlia said putting her hands up in fake surrender. “Doubt that. You’re a whole lot more stubborn that I am, have been since we were 16 years old.”

City’s dad looked at her and smiled, and it was crazy, but I could see the love he had for her in his eyes.

“Pops,” City said and the moment was broken when he looked back at his son. “How you feelin though? I need to make sure you recovering and can get out this place in one piece.”

“I’m good, son. I feel good. Sore and in pain when I move but, I’m glad to be alive,” he said.

City nodded, and I could see the relief all over his face. He looked over at his mother. “Ma can you give me a minute with pops?”

“Of course,” she said. She leaned down and kissed Michaels forehead before she left the room.

“You want me to leave too?” I asked looking at City.

“Nah, stay,” he said looking back at his father. “Pops I found out who it was that was driving the truck that ran you over.” That was news to me, and I inhaled sharply looking at City with wide eyes.

“I know who it was,” Michael said, and it was City’s turn to look surprised.

“I saw her right as she struck me. It was Sandra,” Michael said. City nodded, but I was confused.

“Who’s Sandra?” I asked looking from City to his dad.

“Rigs’ mom was the one who did that shit?” Guwop said getting up from the chair he’d been sitting in on the other side of the room.

“Yup,” City said. “Rigs hit me up a while back cuz he had a connect with the City of Miami who was going to run the cameras in the area back. But the nigga been ghost for the last few days. His boy found me though and showed me the footage he pulled. He got the truck registered to her and her fucking face at a gas station getting out the car that night. She was behind that shit. Rigs been missing since.”

City’s dad shook his head. “I knew she was upset, but I didn’t think she was going to try to kill me.”

“Upset about what? She still mad at you because you left her ass?” City asked pissed.

“No. I never told you this but Rigs told me he needed some money a few months ago or he was going to lose his shop. I gave him about $40,000 but then later found out he gave it to his mother. I gave her half of everything I had in the divorce, so I was upset that he would lie to me and basically steal from me to give to her. Me and Sandra haven’t been getting along that well since the divorce. I told him he needed to find a way to give me my money back and we had an argument about it. But he’s my son, and I love him, so I was willing to let it go. But Sandra got upset. I suppose because I wasn’t willing to help her. And here we are now because she’s a dumb bitch,” Michael explained.

“And you all thought I shouldn’t know about this?” I heard City’s mother say behind us. I turned to see her standing by the door with her arms folded.

“Ma,” City said and took a step toward her.

“Why would you tell me to step out when that’s what you had to talk about? That woman tried to kill your father, I should know about that,” Dahlia said. She was upset.

“I didn’t want you angrier than you needed to be. I’m sorry ma, I just wanted to talk to pops about it first because I didn’t know if he knew,” City tried to explain.

“Dahlia, come here,” City’s dad said. She walked over to him still visibly upset. He reached his hand out, and she took it.

“Promise me you won’t go do anything crazy. City will handle it and when I get out this place I will finish it,” he said looking into her eyes.

She frowned but then she looked up at the ceiling and closed her eyes. Wiping her eyes with her free hand, she nodded. My stomach dipped for them because I could tell they loved each other still.

“Don’t worry about it,” Michael said pulling her down to him. She hugged him, and I looked at City. He was watching them with his hands buried in his pockets. I reached out and held on to his arm.

“Pops, Ima leave you to get some rest, but I’ll be back later,” City said eventually.

“Okay son, be safe,” he said. “It was nice to meet you, Bo.” He winked at me, and I smiled at him.

“I’m glad you’re awake,” I said to him. I meant that too. “Bye Dahlia.”

She waved bye to me, and I and City walked out of the room with Guwop behind us.

“How we gon’ handle this shit?” Guwop asked City.

“We gotta find that nigga and his bitch mama,” City said. His jaw was square, and he was grinding his teeth. I knew he was mad.

Guwop nodded, and I didn’t say anything. I knew that whatever was going to happen I didn’t want to know about it. Rigs and his mother had done the worst thing they could ever do. And now it was time to pay the piper.

  A few days later

“Brandon, come pick up your clothes from off this floor,” I yelled as I walked into the living room and saw his underwear, pants, and shirt thrown on the floor and draped on the back of the couch.

“Coming,” his little voice said, and I heard his feet running from the back bedroom to the living room.

When he came out, I pointed to the couch. “You can’t leave your clothes just lying around okay? That makes the place a mess, and we don’t live like that.”

“My mom lets me do that at home,” he grumbled under his breath.

“Well you aren’t at home, and this isn’t your mother's house so please try to keep it clean,” I said irritated.

It was going on about a week that the two of them had been in the house now and I felt like I was slowly losing my mind. Summer barely said two words to me which was fine, but whenever Greg was around, she was extra smiley and up in his face. I could tell he was uncomfortable with the situation and he was trying to be extra accommodating to me, but I hated the fact that this woman was here. And her son was spoiled as fuck. Before, he would be at the house for every other Saturday then he would go back to his mom’s house. But living with him 24-7 made me see just how much of a brat he was. I hated calling him that because I did care about this little boy, but he needed an ass whooping. And I knew I couldn’t be the one to do it even though I wanted to.

Like right now. He was being extra dramatic as he picked up the clothes that were lying around the room. He was only seven, but he was sighing heavily and giving me an attitude. I was five seconds away from telling him to cut it out. I turned to go to the kitchen when I almost tripped over a toy truck.

“Brandon, is this yours?” I snapped at him.

“Why you talking to my son like that?” I heard Summers' voice say to the right of me and I looked to see her stepping out of the room she and Brandon shared.

“He needs to learn to clean up behind himself,” I said to her with an edge in my voice.

“Okay but he’s 7. There’s a way to talk to him and how you’re doing it is not it,” she said screwing up her face at me.

I sighed and turned my back to her to walk away to the kitchen. I wasn’t about to start a fight with her because I had somewhere to be. I wasn’t sure why she was home now anyway and not at work. She’d gone to work the first two days she’d been here then she’d been home ever since. It didn’t make sense to me. I was going to have to talk to Greg about this.

Going to the kitchen, I poured a glass of water. I needed to leave in ten minutes anyway because Greg had finally set up the appointment to go get his sperm tested and then we had an IVF consultation right after. It was the one bright light I had to look forward to this week because every day I came home I was counting down the next three weeks remaining that those two had to be in our house.

Ten minutes later I was heading out the door. I was supposed to meet Greg at the doctor's office, and I bopped to the music on the radio as I drove to the doctor about fifteen minutes away.

Soon I was pulling up to the parking lot and walking into the waiting area. I spotted Greg sitting with his nose in a magazine. He looked up when he saw me and stood.

“Hey babe,” he said kissing me on the cheek.

  “Hey,” I said.

“You okay?” he asked looking down at me.

I sighed. “Your baby mama and son are giving me a headache,” I said sitting beside him in the waiting room. “I don’t know how I’m gonna make it through the next three weeks.”

“I actually gotta talk to you about something,” he said sheepishly. My stomach dipped.

“What?” I asked looking up at him. I couldn’t take any more news, and the way he was looking made me feel like the news was not going to be good.

“The doctor is ready for you,” a nurse said coming to the door of the waiting room and effectively cutting off whatever Greg was going to say.

“Come on. We’ll talk about it later,” he said holding his hand out for me.

I stood up and walked with him, but I was thinking about what he could possibly have to discuss with me. We walked to the fourth exam room on the left, and the nurse came in after us. She was an older Hispanic lady, about 5’3” and stocky.

“So I see you all are here to do a semen analysis?” she started and we nodded. She smiled. “Okay, we need the sample in this container,” she said handing us a small white container.

“So… I just do it in here?” Greg asked looking around the small room.

“Yes sir,” she said nodding. “When you are done just let us know, and the urologist will come in to see you. I see you also have an appointment with Doctor Stein to discuss IVF options and get information on that entire process?”

“Yes, we do,” I said nodding. I had waited so long to get some progress with this pregnancy, I was excited that we were finally doing something that would take me one step closer to having a baby.

“Okay, the doctor will see you after we get the sample from your boyfriend. It's standard for us to do a pregnancy test before any IVF discussion just to be absolutely sure you aren’t already pregnant,” she said.

“I’m definitely not pregnant. I had my period about 3 weeks or so ago,” I said.

She smiled at me. “Okay, no problem. Just as a precaution though. Then the doctor will come to see you.”

“Okay. Can I stay with him when he does…you know, when he gets the sample ready?” I asked looking at Greg.

He chuckled. “I might need your help babe.”

“Just let us know when you’re ready,” the nurse said stepping out the room. She closed the door, and I looked at Greg.

“How you want to do this?” I asked him looking down at the sample container.

“Up to you,” he said grinning at me, and I rolled my eyes.

  “Okay,” I said getting up.

I unzipped his jeans, and he scooted down to the edge of the exam table. His dick popped out, and I kneeled in front of him. When I covered his dick with my mouth, he exhaled sharply.

“Shit, babe,” he said while running his fingers through my hair.

I can’t say I wasn’t becoming a little turned on as I gave him head in the examination room. My mouth went back and forth on his dick as I sucked on him, his low moans were my motivation because I wanted him to nut sooner rather than later.

After a few minutes, I felt his dick get harder in my mouth.

“Shit Sade I’m ’bout to cum,” he said, and I jumped up and reached for the sample container. He took it from me and held on to his dick as he kept jacking it off, and a few seconds l
ater the thick, white semen shot out into the cup. It wasn’t a lot, but I prayed it was enough for them to test what they needed to test.

“Damn,” he said trying to catch his breath.

  “You okay?” I asked giggling.

“Yeah. We might need round two later, though,” he said and leaned up to kiss my cheek. He pulled his pants back up, and I went to let the nurse know we were ready. A few minutes later the urologist came in. He explained to us that they were going to send the sperm for testing just to make sure there was nothing wrong with Greg. He told us though that since Greg already had a child there was probably no issue on his end, but this was just procedure. He also explained that they would call us with the results in a few days.

We waited for a few more minutes then another doctor walked into the room. Doctor Stein was a middle-aged female doctor with pale skin and brown hair.

“Nice to meet you both, how are you?” she asked smiling at us.

“Good, just anxious to get some information about the whole IVF process,” I said nervously.

“Of course. I know trying to get pregnant is a very stressful thing especially when it doesn't happen right away,” she said and looked at me. I didn’t feel like she was judging me which was good and made me feel like I finally had someone who understood. For the next ten minutes, she explained the entire IVF process. She explained how it works, the success rate and the price range. She explained the fertility drugs I would need to take before the sperm was injected into my egg and she warned that there was a possibility that it would not work or that multiples would be the result.

When she finished explaining everything to us, I felt like I had a much better understanding of what was going to happen if we went this route.

“So I think the nurse who came in earlier explained to you that its procedure that we do a pregnancy test to make sure you aren’t already pregnant,” Doctor Stein explained.
