“Nadia,” he groaned hoarsely, fighting to control the urge to pound into her. “Ah, baby…fuck.”
“That’s right,” she whispered in a throaty voice. “Fuck me, Reid Holden. Fuck me hard.”
Shuddering deeply, he lowered his head and opened his heavy-lidded eyes. Watching her face, he flexed his hips and began an erotic in-and-out slide. She moaned with pleasure, her face flushing with heat and her dark nipples tightening.
“Holy shit,” Reid rasped, staring down at her body. “You’re so sexy, baby. So damn sexy.”
She groaned, circling her hips against his.
He surged into her, grinding deep before pulling halfway out and then slamming back inside her heat.
She cried out and bucked against him, her hips lifting off the car to meet his next thrust.
Growling with satisfaction, he leaned over and kissed her parted lips, sucking on her tongue before dragging his mouth lower to lick her dewy breasts. She arched her back with a low cry.
He straightened and pulled her legs up to his chest, scissoring them around his neck so he could penetrate her even deeper.
She gasped sharply.
“You like that?” he panted.
“Yes!”
“Want more?”
“Yes!”
“Harder?”
“God, yes!”
Over and over he powered into her, reveling in the cries spilling from her throat, the lushness of her thighs in his hands, the clawing of her nails on the car as he rocked her up and down. His eyes feasted on her bouncing tits before lowering to where their bodies were joined. The strip of black hair above her clit was damp and glistening. His cock was shiny with her cream as he slid in and out of her beautiful pussy.
“Reid,” she mewled, hooking her ankles behind his neck. “Oh God, baby…”
He stared down into her eyes. “Is it good?”
“Oh, yes! You feel so good inside me!”
“Hell, yeah,” he growled, deepening his strokes. “Hell fucking yeah.”
The garage was air-conditioned, but it was no match for the scorching heat between them, the driving hunger and intensity. Sweat dripped off Reid’s forehead and landed on Nadia’s belly, mingling with the perspiration that sheened her skin.
His blood was pounding in his veins, his balls were burning and his cock was throbbing, aching for release. No woman, absolutely no woman, had ever felt this good before. He wanted to stay buried inside her forever, didn’t ever want to leave the honeyed depths of her luscious body.
He held onto her hips as he drove inside her, watching her breasts bounce up and down with each thrust. Their ragged breathing and groaning and the slap of skin against skin reverberated around the garage.
Nadia screamed her pleasure as he pounded deep into her, fast and without reserve. He felt the start of contractions along his shaft, her muscles spasming and tightening until they were nearly strangling his cock. Seconds later she climaxed, sobbing his name.
Her explosion set off his own, every muscle in his body seizing before he flung back his head with a loud animalistic groan. He came long and hard, blasting spurts of cum into the condom as Nadia’s pussy rippled around him.
Panting harshly, he lowered her legs, breaking the scissorlock of her thighs around his neck. Then he pulled her up from the car and wrapped his arms around her, craving the full body contact.
She clung tightly to him, her skin hot and slick, her breasts heaving against his chest. The rasp of their heavy breath was the only sound for a long time.
Nadia was the first to find her vocal cords.
“Wow,” she breathed in his ear, making him shiver. “I’ve never done that before.”
“What?”
“Had sex on the hood of a car. In a garage.” She sighed. “Clearly I’ve been missing out.”
“Don’t get any ideas, woman,” Reid growled, nipping her jaw. “You’re only allowed to do this with me.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
She gave another sigh. “It’s just as well. It wouldn’t have been as amazing with anyone else.”
His heart thumped and his cock swelled. “God, you’re good for my ego.”
She laughed softly and he smiled, stroking her damp hair off her face. When she turned her head, he kissed her soft mouth, feeling her lips curve beneath his.
“I can’t believe you’re still remotely hard after that,” she whispered.
“Baby, I stay hard for you.”
“Mmm,” she purred with delight. “You’re good for my ego too.”
He grinned and sucked her bottom lip, so plump and juicy he couldn’t get enough.
“Time for a nap,” he murmured, staring into her eyes.
“Oh?” she whispered teasingly. “Is that what we’re about to do?”
“Well…” When she flexed her muscles around his cock, he hissed at the sensation. “On second thought, we can take a nap later. I need to score a hat trick.”
Her eyes glinted. “A hat trick?”
“Yeah. I wanna make you come three times before we’re done. One more to go.” Keeping himself lodged in her tight heat, he lifted her off the car, groaning when she wrapped her legs around him.
Stepping over the piles of discarded clothes on the floor, he carried her inside and straight to his bedroom.

He got the hat trick and scored another orgasm for himself before they collapsed into a dead sleep, wrapped in each other’s arms.
Some time later, he was awakened by the steady patter of rain against the roof. As a cozy warmth spread through him, he became aware of the luscious heat of Nadia’s body. She was nestled against his side beneath the comforter, which had slipped down to their waists while they slept.
Slowly opening his eyes, he kissed the top of her head and then looked across the room to the bank of French doors. The evening light was muted by the gray sky, and the wooden floor of the balcony glistened wetly from the falling rain.
Reid stared outside for a few moments before shifting his gaze back to the woman in his arms. Her black hair lay in tousled disarray across the pillow. Her face looked even younger in sleep, peaceful and angelic with her dark lashes fanning her cheeks. Her lips were slightly parted, and she had a sexy little mole on her shoulder that he was seriously tempted to kiss.
But he didn’t want to risk waking her until he’d drank his fill of her. So he lay there watching her, barely breathing or blinking, wondering just when he’d become so obsessed with her.
Because he was. Totally and completely obsessed.
And it scared him shitless.
His feelings for Nadia were like an addiction. She was a powerful drug that could consume him, give him the highest highs and make him forget his sanity, his goals, everything he’d ever deemed important.
Being with her was dangerous.
But he didn’t care.
Dangerous or not, he was all in.
Unable to resist touching her, he stroked his knuckles up and down her arm, marveling at the silky softness of her skin.
Her lashes fluttered and then slowly lifted, her dark eyes focusing on his face. After a few moments, a dreamy smile touched her lips. “Hi.”
His mouth curved in lazy response. “Hi.”
“How long have you been awake?”
“Not long.”
“Hmm.” She covered her mouth as she yawned and stretched, arching her back kittenishly in the bed. The movement dislodged the covers even more and made her pert little breasts thrust upward. He stared at them, his cock thickening with arousal. It was all he could do not to palm them and suck those nipples into his mouth like sweet, ripe berries.
Oblivious to his lustful thoughts, Nadia lay on her side with her head resting on her arm and her left leg thrown over his calf. “Is that rain I hear?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Mmm.” She sighed languorously. “I love when it rains and I don’t have anywhere to go. I can just laze around an
d enjoy the sound of it on the windows.”
Reid smiled. “It is pretty cozy, isn’t it?”
“Very.” With a languid smile, she reached up and lazily combed her fingers through his tousled hair. He closed his eyes, luxuriating in the soothing sensation.
“Look at you,” she teased softly. “You’re like a big ol’ tomcat getting his fur stroked. I expect you to start purring at any moment.”
He made a rumbling noise in his throat that caused her to laugh. The sound was as intoxicating as her touch.
“What time is it?” she wondered.
“Dunno.” Didn’t care either.
When she moved to pull away, he caught her wrist. Bringing her hand to his lips, he kissed the center of her palm, feeling her shiver.
When he licked her soft skin, she squealed and jerked her hand away. “Hey! That tickles!”
He laughed. “You did call me a cat.”
She giggled. “And you just proved my point, didn’t you?”
Grinning, he shifted so he was on his side facing her, then let his gaze wander down the slender column of her throat, the perky mounds of her breasts, the swell of her hips and the curve of her shapely thigh. He loved looking at her, loved memorizing every detail about her. She was so gorgeous she took his breath away.
He watched as she pushed herself up on one elbow and peered over his shoulder to see the bedside clock. Her eyes widened in surprise. “It’s after six!”
“Is it?” Reid was unconcerned.
“We slept for four hours!”
“Yeah?” He smiled a lazy smile. “I think we needed it, don’t you?”
She bit her bottom lip and smiled, then leaned down and kissed his shoulder. The soft brush of her lips made him shiver.
When she lay on her side again, he reached down and gently pulled her leg up higher on his so that she rode his thigh. His blood heated at the feel of her warm bare skin against his.
They smiled at each other as he laced their fingers together, letting them sway back and forth in a lazy little dance. He could happily stay right here with her until it was time to leave for his next game. He wished like hell he could.
“If you weren’t here right now,” he murmured, “what would you be doing on your day off?”
She sighed. “Nothing exciting. I’d probably meet Scarlett or Jess for lunch, do some laundry, binge-watch a show or catch up on my reading.”
Reid smiled. “What book are you reading right now?”
She grinned. “Other than Hockey For Dummies?”
They both laughed.
“I haven’t started any new books yet,” she said when the humorous moment passed. “But I love the supernatural genre. Tananarive Due is one of my favorite authors. P.C. Cast is really good too.”
Reid nodded. “I saw their novels on the bookshelf in your room. You have quite a collection of books.”
“I know. The rest are on my Kindle.” She gave him a lazy smile. “So what about you, Mr. Holden? Do you like to read?”
“I do.” He waited for her to look surprised. Hockey players weren’t known for their superior intelligence or intellectual curiosity.
But Nadia didn’t look surprised. She looked pleased, her eyes bright with inquisitiveness. “What do you enjoy reading?”
“Nonfiction, mostly. Autobiographies, memoirs. Right now I’m rereading Bobby Orr’s story.”
“Who’s Bobby Orr?” Nadia asked curiously.
Reid grinned. “Only one of the greatest hockey players of all time.”
“Really? What made him so great?”
“He pretty much revolutionized the defenseman position. His speed and offensive style of play changed the two-way game forever. He’s a big reason I became a defenseman.”
“I can tell,” Nadia said, watching him with a fascinated smile. “Sounds like he was your idol.”
Reid smiled. “You could say that. He retired several years before I was born. But I grew up watching film of his games, studying the way he skated, how he handled the puck and dominated his opponents. If he was caught up-ice and the other team broke out an odd-man rush, he could usually get back down to the other end to break up the play. That’s how fast he was. Seriously. He was electrifying to watch.”
“Sounds like someone else I know,” Nadia said with a meaningful smile at Reid.
He smiled back at her. “There you go stroking my ego again.”
“Just telling the truth. You’re ridiculously talented and you know it.” She stroked a hand over his chest. “But just out of curiosity, if you didn’t play hockey, what other sport would you have played?”
Reid chuckled. “There’s no other sport I wanted to play. Hockey is it for me.”
She laughed. “Then let me rephrase the question. What’s your second favorite sport?”
“Baseball,” he said without hesitation.
“Really?” She sounded surprised. “I would have guessed football.”
Reid smiled. “I get that a lot.”
“Well, yeah, because football is a much more physical sport than baseball. You’re a rough, tough guy who loves to hit—and hit hard. You play hockey like a middle linebacker.”
“So I’ve heard.” Reid chuckled, caressing her smooth thigh. “I like football. But I grew up mostly watching the Detroit Tigers. And my Red Wings, of course.”
“Of course.” Nadia smiled.
A streak of lightning flashed outside. They fell silent for a moment, listening to the rain drumming against the windows.
“Can I ask you a question?” Reid murmured.
He watched Nadia’s expression grow veiled, almost wary. But she nodded, giving him permission to continue.
“You said you’ve had bad experiences with athletes,” he said quietly. “What did you mean by that?”
Her eyes flickered and she glanced away, nibbling at the corner of her bottom lip. “It’s a long story.”
“I’m not doing anything else at the moment.”
When she didn’t respond, he gently nudged her with his hips. “Talk to me.”
She sighed and shook her head, staring up at the ceiling. “I’ve dated three athletes in my life, and I struck out with all of them.”
Something primal and possessive unfurled inside Reid. “What happened?”
She let out another heavy sigh. “The first mistake happened in high school. His name was Greg and he was a running back on the football team. To make a long story short, we were studying in the library one day when he decided his hand belonged up my skirt rather than on the table. After I slapped him and told him off, he retaliated by spreading ugly rumors about me at school. He and his teammates bullied me until my brother and parents intervened.”
Anger burned low in Reid’s gut. “Please tell me that little fucker got expelled from school.”
“He didn’t. But he got kicked off the football team and was ordered to stay away from me.”
“Did he?”
“Yes.” A cynical smile curved Nadia’s mouth. “If he’d been more valuable to the football team, or if my father weren’t a respected pillar of the community, he probably would have gotten away with his behavior.”
“Sounds like a sex offender in the making,” Reid muttered grimly.
Something flickered in Nadia’s eyes, a flash of pain and anger. It made his heart beat harder, dread seeping into his gut.
“Tell me about the others.” He was almost afraid to hear more, but he had to know the extent to which she’d been hurt.
She lowered her eyes from the ceiling and met his gaze for the first time. “The next two mistakes happened in college. During my sophomore year, I went out with a basketball player named Dawan. He was nice and seemed really down to earth. I thought he was different.” Her lips twisted sardonically. “Until he took my virginity and dumped me the very next day.”
“Shit.” Reid shoved a rough hand through his hair, shook his head and scowled. “Fucking asshole.”
“That he was,” Nadia agreed.
“To add insult to injury, he was also a lousy lover.”
“And he was your first.” Reid’s voice was grim with sympathy and anger. “What’s his last name? Did he get drafted into the NBA?”
“No. Last I heard, he was playing in some developmental league overseas.”
“He’d better stay the fuck over there,” Reid growled darkly.
Nadia gave him a glimmer of a smile.
He scrubbed a hand over his face and blew out a harsh breath. He’d never felt so fiercely protective of a woman who wasn’t related to him. He wanted to hold her tight, reassure her that no one would ever harm her again. Including him.
“What happened with the third guy?” His voice was low.
He saw Nadia’s throat move as she swallowed hard. “I should have learned my lesson after Dawan. But I was young and naive and...” She shook her head. “That’s no excuse. I should have known better. But I didn’t, and Brody took advantage of that.”
“So that was his name?” Reid said through a clenched jaw. “Brody?”
She nodded, her fingers plucking at the soft bedsheet beneath her. “We had sociology together. He waited for me after class one day and asked me out to lunch. He said he’d been watching me for weeks, trying to work up the nerve to talk to me. I was flattered. I thought he was really cute, and he was on the lacrosse team. I’d sworn off football and basketball players, so I convinced myself that Brody was a safe choice because he played a sport I considered ‘less manly.’ Less testosterone driven.” She gave a small, bitter laugh. “Little did I know.”
Reid flexed his jaw, the knot of dread tightening in his gut.
“Brody told me he often felt like an outsider, being the only black guy on the lacrosse team. He didn’t truly fit in with his teammates because of his race, but other black students made fun of him for playing a ‘white boy sport’ like lacrosse. I could relate to that feeling. I know what it’s like to be told you’re not black enough because you listen to certain types of music or have non-stereotypical interests. Brody and I connected on that level, which made me like him even more.” She frowned and shifted her gaze back to the ceiling, away from Reid’s. “We’d been dating for two weeks when he invited me to a small, intimate gathering at his dorm suite. He knew I wasn’t crazy about parties, so he assured me that there would only be a few other couples there, nothing too wild or overwhelming. It sounded harmless enough, so I agreed to go.”
