Reefer met Tamara’s gaze, instantly knowing what she was thinking. “What if Tamara and I go with her, Chief? We could get special authority and maybe even be allowed to carry our guns.”
Chief Brown stared at the badge, reached out, and pulled her into his arms. “Protocol be damned. You can go, but you have to promise me you’ll come back.”
“I promise I’ll come back, but I can’t promise I’ll bring him back alive. The Escape Artist is going to have one final deception.”
