Abduction (A Psychic Romance Novella Series) Page 10

by Ladd, Larissa

“So what’s your group called?” Gabrielle shifted her hips, loving the heat of Dustin’s body underneath her.

“Guess we never did cover that, did we? We’re White Hand. Stupid name, I know.” Dustin grinned and licked his lips. “Since you’ve met Sasha and James, I can tell you that we’re not affiliated with any particular government, but we do occasionally work with different governments—since most of them know about paranormals, already. It’s hardly a secret anymore, as you know. Everyone involved in White Hand is a paranormal like us. We’ve got other telekinetics, precogs, clairvoyants, different people with different abilities—a few telepaths like I said before, but no one quite as strong as you. So, of course, we wanted to make sure that Iron Cross didn’t capture you.”

Gabrielle had never had reason to think of her skills as particularly strong.

Dustin pulled her in for another kiss. “Take your time thinking about it. Make sure you bargain.” His words were a whisper in her ear, as if he was concerned that he would be heard.

“I haven’t made up my mind yet,” Gabrielle replied quietly. “Now, weren’t you saying something before about how, if I wanted control, I could tie you up?” She raised an eyebrow.

Dustin laughed out loud. He lifted her up and carried her into the house, taking her straight into the bedroom he had claimed.

Gabrielle relished the feeling of Dustin’s arms around her in the late afternoon gloom, coming out of her doze with a feeling of security and warmth. She considered everything that had happened in the span of a few short days; she had her whole life, everything anchoring her to the world. She was glad that her parents and grandmother had passed away in the previous ten years, in a way—because they wouldn’t have to worry about her. But she also wished that she had someone to help her make a decision.

Before James and Sasha had left to give them privacy, Dustin had insisted on James removing the mental blocks that had been set up to keep Gabrielle from knowing too much. “She knows all the important stuff now, anyway,” he had insisted.

Reluctantly, James had removed all but the deepest blocks. The resulting sex had been even more amazing. Gabrielle’s stomach was rumbling, and she wondered if she could prevail upon Dustin to cook another delicious meal. She turned over onto her side and looked at Dustin’s sleeping face. There was a lot she still had to decide—but she had concluded, after reading him as thoroughly as she could during their sex together, that at least she could trust him.

  About the Author

Larissa Ladd is a dreamer with insights fresh as the frost newly formed on the twig whose snap echoes through the moonlit forest. Since as a child she discovered the storybook world of ghouls and goblins, she's been a devotee of the eerie, the supernatural, and all that raises the hairs on the back of the neck. Her spine still shivers with delight when she huddles fearfully in a darkling corner, enthralled in suspenseful tales from her favorite authors Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and John Saul. Feast your eyes on the scintillating flashes of garish color dabbed forth from her pen.
