“That would be me, and that dress is very stunning. Don’t be surprised if my wife asks you where you got it from. Speaking of my wife, I think I should check on her. She is pregnant and about to pop,” he said then walked off.

The dress I wore was gold and it wrapped around my curves. It gave my hips more of an expression. The sleeveless dress draped down at the neckline, showing a small amount of cleavage. The front of the dress stopped at my knees and the back of it dragged the floor.

“I got this dress from magic,” I said to Kumba then he smiled.

“Can you magically make it disappear when we get back into the limo? If I didn’t have a party to host, you would’ve been in trouble. I would’ve sampled every treasure you are hiding underneath it,” he said to me. A warm feeling came over me, which caused me to fan myself.

“There he is! The best cook in town! I must say that this restaurant is beautifully decorated,” a middle-aged White man said to us. I could tell by his expensive-looking threads that he was wealthy. He was a very attractive man with blond hair and pretty blue eyes. He had a nice physique and he walked around the restaurant like he owned it.

“What’s happening, Don? How is it going?” Kumba asked him as they shook hands.

“I’m doing great. This is a lovely place you have here. I have to bring my business partner here for our meetings,” he said to Kumba.

“Anytime, just call me ahead of time, so that I can make sure you have your own section,” Kumba said. He interacted with humans very well. You would’ve never known that he was an immortal by the way he lived his life.

“Will do, and who is this lovely lady here?” Don asked Kumba.

“This is my fiancé, Naobi,” Kumba answered. Don reached out to shake my hand.

“Nice to meet you. That is a remarkable dress you are wearing,” Don said to me.

“Nice to meet you, too, and thank you,” I replied.

A young, pretty woman walked toward us with her hair braided. Her long, black dress clung to her body and she seductively swayed her hips as she walked. Her brown skin glistened under the lights. When she got closer she reached out to Don. Don wrapped his arm around her waist. “Kumba and Naobi, I would like for y’all to meet Onya,” he said to us. I looked in Onya’s eyes then realized she was the wolf that I saw through Izra’s vision. Onya shook Kumba’s hand then she reached out to shake my hand.

“Nice to finally meet you, Onya. Hopefully this will not be the last time we run into each other. I have learned how small circles are around here,” I said to her. She snatched her hand back then looked at because I burned it. Kumba and Don walked off to talk, leaving Onya and I standing next to each other.

“What are you?” she asked me.

“You will see as your soul will slowly drain from your body to the pits of hell. I will come to collect soon, but in the meantime, enjoy your night,” I said to her then she growled at me.

“Your beast isn’t as threatening as you think, my child,” I said to her.

“You will see once I bit your head off,” she said angrily then I laughed when she started to choke. Onya grabbed at her throat as she tried to breathe. She fell onto the floor, gasping for air. Don rushed to her then a crowd surrounded them. A human pressed down on her stomach and another one opened her mouth.

“She’s choking!” someone screamed as I watched. Kumba looked at me with confusion on his face.

“Not now, my love,” I said into his thoughts.

“I see something in her throat!” a White woman called out as she held Onya’s mouth open. She reached inside her mouth then pulled out a black Egyptian scorpion. The crowd gasped.

“What the hell is that thing?” someone asked then the woman threw the scorpion across the room. They helped Onya up then Don gave her a cold glass of water. I looked at Onya then smiled. “my gift to you,” I said into her thoughts.

Don took Onya to the corner of the room. As she talked her eyes changed into her beast and not once was he frightened.

“What was that?” Kumba asked me.

“Me being nice. Why is that human not afraid of that beast? Something is wrong, don’t you see? If he is not afraid of her that means that he knows immortals exist. Humans knowing of our existence is not good,” I said to Kumba. Don looked at me then I waved at him. He hurriedly escorted Onya out of the restaurant.

“We have to protect our kind,” I said to Kumba.

“We will figure that out later, but for right now, let’s dance,” he said to me.

“Yes, my king,” I said to him then his handsome face lit up.

“I’m not your king, Naobi. I’m your mate,” he said to me.

“You are still my king,” I replied.

  Izra

“I’ve been here too long. My beast needs to run loose in the woods for a few days,” I said to Adika when she came out of the bathroom. She didn’t look too good and her skin was pale. She wobbled a little when she walked. I rushed to her. “What’s the matter with you?” I asked her.

“I’m fine. I must have eaten some bad meat. I just need to rest for a little bit,” she said.

“We need to get the fuck out of this cramped apartment because, soon, I will be sick. I need to get back to the house. My brothers are looking for me, I’m sure. But then again, they might think that I’ve switched sides. Come on, Adika, just let me go,” I said to her.

“You might run into Onya,” she said.

“So, what! I’m not thinking about Onya,” I spat. I felt like I was in a cage. I missed seeing the sunlight from outside.

“I see now how humans feel when they are on death row. This isn’t shit but a life sentence,” I said to her then she threw-up on the floor.

“We need to go back to the house and have Elle, Amadi or Kofi look at you. Is that a hairball, though?” I asked as I looked at the thick chunks of food that was splattered across the floor.

“I just ate something bad, that’s all,” she said.

“You are a witch, Adika. You can’t predict shit like that?” I asked her.

“Would you shut the hell up?” she asked me.

“Let me go home then! I left my cell-phone at the hotel room. Don’t you think my pack is trying to get in touch with me? Bad enough you blocked them out of my head! I can’t get in touch with nobody,” I said to her.

“You cannot leave here until Onya is dead! I’m going to find her once I feel better enough to kill her,” she said to me.

“So now you are a wicked witch?” I asked her.

“I’m a witch who is in love with her beast!” she yelled then threw-up again. Adika fell onto the floor then I rushed to her. She looked sick, very sick. Her lips looked pale and her skin felt clammy.

“We need to get out of here and go home. You are sick and you need help,” I said to her. She screamed as she clutched her stomach. I lifted up her baggy shirt and that’s when I noticed. Adika hid her body underneath baggy clothes so that I couldn’t see her stomach. I was locked away with her and not once did she come onto me. She didn’t want me to know she was pregnant.

“I’m so sorry,” she said clutching her stomach. I picked her up then walked to the door.

“Unblock the door, Adika! Do it now because there is no way in hell I can be locked up in an apartment with a dead pup,” I said to her. I felt in my heart the pup was dead. Adika was sick the last time she lost our pup.

Adika closed her eyes then the brick wall that blocked the door slowly disappeared, but using her magic drained her even more. Once the door was unblocked, I took off down the stairs then out of the building. I ran with her in my arms into the woods. I shifted into my beast then she slowly got onto my back.

“Hold on tight! I’m going to be very fast,” I said to her. She squeezed me around my neck as tight as she could as I ran through the woods, headed toward our home.

  *******

“Where have you been at, nigga?” Dayo asked me after I burst through the door with Adika on my back. Adika c
limbed off my back but her legs wobbled. Dayo hurriedly caught her before she hit the floor. He picked her up then ran her upstairs as I shifted back. When I got to my room, I hurriedly put on a pair of shorts. Dayo lay Adika on our bed then went to get Kofi and Elle. Seconds later, they ran into the room. “What happened to her?” Kofi asked as he rushed to her. He felt her forehead. “She doesn’t feel good,” he said then Adika whined.

“Just get it out! Please, get it out of me!” Adika screamed as she clutched her stomach. My eyes stung as water filled them. I hated to see her go through that again, and I hated that I had to go through it, too. Elle came back in the room with his leather doctor bag. He was going to cut her stomach open to take the pup out of her or else the pain wouldn’t go away. Elle was the one who cut our first pup out of her stomach. Dayo rushed in with towels and a big metal bowl filled with ice-water. Elle pulled out his stethoscope then placed it on Adika’s stomach.

“There’s no heartbeat,” Elle said to us.

“You’ve got to get out, Izra,” Dayo said to me.

“Where is that punk-ass muthafucka? I heard his voice,” Goon said when he walked into my room. When he saw Adika he froze. “She lost the pup again?” he asked me then I shook my head. Goon patted my back. “Come out here and talk to me. Let them help her,” he said to me but my feet wouldn’t move. Elle grabbed his sharp cutting knife; blood seeped out of the cut as he traced it across her lower stomach. She squeezed Kofi and Dayo’s hand as Elle cut her. “STOP!” I yelled out.

“I’ve got to get the pup out!” Elle said.

“NO! Don’t do it!” I said. A small vision appeared into my head of Adika giving birth to our pup.

“Son, I know this is hard for you, but we’ve got to get it out,” Kofi said to me.

“Our pup isn’t dead!” I said ready to attack Elle but Goon grabbed me in a bear hug.

“Elle, if you cut her open I’m going to kill you! I’m going to forget that you are my brother and bite your throat out! My pup ain’t dead, bro, but if you take her out now she will never survive,” I said to him.

“Adika just passed out from the pain! The pup is not alive and that’s why she is sick!” Elle yelled at me.

“Listen to me, bro, that is my pup and you’d better not fucking touch her,” I said then growled at him. Dayo looked at Elle.

“It’s his mate, bro, and what he says should go,” Dayo told Elle.

“This is not the best decision to make, Izra. Look at her!” Kofi said.

“I swear on this pack, I will kill a brother if my pup is taken out of her womb,” I told them. Kofi looked at Adika then stood.

“Her life is in your hands, son. Whatever decision you make there is a consequence. You must blame no one but yourself,” he said then walked out of the room. Elle grabbed his stethoscope then placed it on Adika’s stomach. A look of confusion came over his face as he rubbed the stethoscope around her stomach.

  “This is unbelievable!” Elle said.

“What happened?” Goon asked then went over to Adika. He placed his hand over her stomach. “This pup is alive and kicking,” Goon said.

“It was dead,” Elle said in disbelief.

“Congrats, baby bro! Now come over and give us a hug, nigga! I don’t like your ass but I did miss you,” Dayo said to me. Elle, Amadi, Goon and Dayo pulled me into them.

“Adika’s cut is closing already. She is sleeping peacefully, so let her rest,” Elle said to us. I walked out of the room and my brothers followed me. As soon as I closed the door, Goon started to growl at me.

“Where is that wolf you were creepin’ with, bro? She is against this pack,” Goon said to me.

“Adika came to the hotel room and caught me fucking Onya. They fought then Onya just ran off and I haven’t heard from her since. I don’t know what I was thinking. When I was around Onya, I was like a little lost puppy, bro. I didn’t know Adika put a spell on me until she showed up at the room. I should’ve known something wasn’t right because Onya’s scent wasn’t all that appealing to me. Adika had me locked up inside her apartment, away from everyone. I just found out she was carrying my pup. Where is Anik and Arya?” I asked.

“They are home but the females went shopping for the pups Anik is carrying,” Goon said. I looked at Elle and there was something about him that was different. I looked at his gear.

“I almost thought this old nigga was a rapper now. Elle, you grew up, didn’t you?” I asked him then he chuckled.

“I’m just relaxing that’s all,” he said.

“Who was that wolf that was following Onya and I?” I asked him then he smirked.

“She was Camille’s friend and she worked for Sosa,” Elle answered.

“What is she to you because, nigga, you never had swag,” I said to him then Dayo laughed.

“I told this nigga he looked too thugged out,” Dayo said then they we all laughed.

“That’s because Elle getting him some wolf pussy,” Dayo said.

“Naw, I don’t think Elle is hitting that yet,” Goon said.

“Would y’all stay out my business?” Elle asked.

“Where is Amadi?” I asked them.

“He went to the store. But I will holla at y’all later. I’m ready to run out real quick. Welcome back home, Izra, but I’m not fucking with you tomorrow, so don’t say shit to me,” Dayo said then walked down the hall.

“Fuck you, too, nigga! I wasn’t going to say shit to you anyway!” I shouted behind him.

“Damn, I hate that nigga,” I said.

“Where did you get Onya from? You’ve been to Sosa’s house, right?” Goon asked me.

“I don’t think that was his house. It was a cabin and since he was already plotting, I doubt if that was where he slept. Sosa seems a little smart, so I’m sure he doesn’t know want us to know where he lives,” I answered.

“Anik said it was a mansion, and we found Ammon,” Goon said.

“I almost forgot about that nigga,” I said.

“Yeah, me too, but his body is inside Kumba’s house in the basement. A witch got to him and took his beast away from him. He isn’t dead but he is sleeping,” Goon said.

  “Well, good!” I replied.

“That isn’t good, little brother. A witch with his beast can destroy this whole pack except for Goon, but it would still a challenge Naobi might even have a problem defeating it. That isn’t a good combination. Whomever that witch is has an agenda,” Elle said.

“Why can’t these ancient immortals let us be? It’s like the old against the young. What witch is powerful enough to take Ammon’s punk-ass beast?” I asked.

“That’s what we are trying to figure out,” Goon said.

“I need a drink,” I said then headed to the kitchen. When I got into the kitchen there was papers all over the island. I picked one up. “What the hell is this?” I asked as Elle and Goon walked into the kitchen behind me.

“Arya had pictures of your beast in her little camera. Dayo told her to print them out and place them all over town,” Goon said. I looked at the picture and read the words. The words under the picture read, Lost German Shepherd.

“I’m going to fuck that nigga up! I don’t look like no punk-ass cop dog!” I fussed then Goon laughed until water filled his eyes.

“Arya was convinced that you will see it and come home. Dayo did it so that she wouldn’t be so worried,” Elle said. I trashed the papers but Goon hurriedly grabbed one. “I’m sorry, bro, but I have to keep this. You talk too much shit, it’s only right. You do look like an extra-large German Shepherd, though,” he said putting the paper in his back pocket.

“Your beast even posed for the picture,” Goon said then Elle fell over laughing.

“So what! Fuck the both of you! Arya was bored and I shifted for her. She wanted to take it to her school for ‘show your pets’ day!” I shouted at them.

“But, bro, you were chewing on a toy in the picture,” Goon said.

  “It had to look believable,
I said then Elle roared with laughter.

“I told Arya not to show anybody that,” I said then laughed myself. I was happy to be back home. I grabbed a bottle of Henny from the liquor cabinet.

“Are you going to roll up?” I asked Goon.

“I guess so. You smoking, Elle?” Goon asked him. Elle thought about it.

“I guess I can celebrate Izra’s return home,” Elle said then I patted his back.

“Elle is officially on the other side,” I said then he shook his head.

“Now all we need is for Amadi to convert his ancient old ways,” I said.

  *******

Adika was asleep then all of a sudden she jumped up then looked down at her stomach. “Get it out of me!” she screamed.

“It’s not dead!” I said to her. She placed her hand over her stomach then tears flowed down her face.

“What happened? This is not possible,” she said as she got out of bed.

“According to the vision I had it is possible and it’s going to happen,” I said to her.
