by Williams, Aleta

After purchasing a case of Corona, Wack jumped in his truck. His destination was the other side of town. Now that his nigga, his supplier, Magic, was killed, he had to go and cop his drug of choice elsewhere.

  *****

Back at the house, Yay had finished cooking, but now that Wack had left, she no longer had an appetite. I gotta find something to do. She walked out of the kitchen to her and Wack’s bedroom. She was tired of sitting in the house. She needed to get out and breathe. Maybe if Wack came home and saw that she wasn’t there, he would open up to her; if not, at least talk her. She knew that she didn’t do anything wrong and she was going to stop feeling like it. She was tired of walking on eggshells not knowing when he was going to act up.

Yay walked over to the small closet and looked through the clothes to find something to wear. She grabbed a pair of leggings, a cute red top that would show off her firm midsection, and a pair of red heels. She laid her outfit on the bed and went to shower. After washing up, she got out, dried herself off, and walked over to the sink to grab her VS lotion. Yay sat on the toilet and lotioned her body. She sprayed body spray from her hair down to her feet, hung the dry towel back on the shower door, and walked back into the bedroom to dress. Beep, beep she heard when she walked into the room. It was her cellphone letting her know that she had a missed call. Yay grabbed her cell from the dresser and looked at it. She had two missed calls from Calvin. What he wanted, she no idea and didn’t care to find out. I’m Trina’s daughter, remember, so why in the hell are you calling me? She was still salty with him from the last time they talked. She didn’t appreciate how he had the nerve to be mad at her because she didn’t care that Jazz was shot. Fuck Jazz, did he forget that Jazz jumped on her? Yay noticed that Calvin left her a voicemail. She didn’t bother to listen to it. In fact, she deleted it. I gotta remember to download the block application on my phone. He isn’t no different than everyone else who puts Jazz first. So, fuck him, too, was how she felt.

  He Wildn’

Wack was high as a kite when he made it back to the house, and Yay was on her way out the door.

“Where the fuck you going dressed like that?" Wack snatched at the bottom of her shirt. Take this shit off." He snatched the string that held the shirt together and it came apart, exposing her breasts.

"Wack, stop, you're drunk." She tried pushing him out the way.

"No, bitch, you a ho." He back handed her.

Yay grabbed the side of her face. "Wack, why you hit me?" Her feelings were hurt and she tried her best not to cry.

Wack grabbed her by the throat and put his face close to hers. "Dressed like that, you must be ready to sale some pussy."

Yay stared into his blood shot red eyes. For the first time ever, she was scared of Wack. He never put his hands on her and never talked to her like that. His grip got tighter around her neck. She couldn't breathe. Yay tried to take his hand from around her neck, but he was to strong. Snot flew out of her nose and foam spilled from her mouth. Wack laughed. Yay’s eyes rolled in the back of her head. She started to believe that it was the end for her.

Boom...Boom.....Boom.... Knocks at the door pulled Wack out of his trance.

  "Open up, it’s the police."

Wack let Yay’s neck go. She dropped to her knees, trying to catch her breath. Wack, on the other head, was scared shitless. He didn't know what the fuck was going on. He put his finger to his lips and squatted in front of Yay. “I-will-kill-you,” he mouthed. “Don’t-say-shit,” e warned.

Wack and Yay listened as the police continued to knock. Wack figured they didn't have a warrant because if they had, they would have announced it or either kicked his door down.

Yay and Wack stayed frozen in their position until the cops stop knocking. Neither had any idea what was going on. Yay secretly hoped that they weren’t looking for her. She had been having dreams that she was wanted for Paris’ murder. She knew the police didn’t have any leads and probably wasn’t looking for anyone, but the dreams seemed so real. Twice, she woke up in cold sweats after dreaming the police had come after her. Between those funky dreams and Wack’s attitude, she didn’t know which way to turn. All she needed was to get the hell out of the house and away from Wack until he got his mind right. Yay watched Wack as he eased over to the door and peeped through the peephole.

“Ain’t nobody called but that old bitch.” He was referring to his neighbor, the one that called the cops on him when he was beating Stacy’s ass.

Yay didn’t say a word. She got up from the floor and walked into the bedroom. She flopped on the bed and picked up a book that she had started reading. I got my own drama, I don’t feel like reading this shit. She tossed the book on the side of the bed. Brrrr, brrrr. Her cell went off. She looked at the caller ID and it was Suga from the club. Just as she was about to pick it up, Wack walked in.

“Who’s that?” he questioned. He walked over and took the phone from her. He looked at it and saw who it was. “I think she want my bitch.” He tossed the phone to the side. “You trying to cheat on me with a bitch? That’s your problem lately, you like pussy?” Yay thought how he had his nerve trying to accuse her of acting out of character when he was the one making it hard to live in the same house with him. “You made at me?” He grabbed Yay by the face.

  “No,” she lied.

“Well, give me a kiss.” He licked those juicy lips that used to turn Yay on. She wanted to say, ‘Hell no, are you crazy?’ but to not cause problems, she lifted her head up and perched her lips. Wack leaned over. She could smell the liquor on his breath as he leaned in and kissed her. He used his body to push Yay back on the bed. He began to kiss and suck on her lips as he grinned on top of her. “You don’t love me no more?” Wack kissed her on neck. He then placed his tongue in her ear, and that right there drove Yay crazy. She rubbed on his back and shortly after, clothes came off. When Wack pulled Yay’s panties down, she was dripping wet. Wack stared as Yay lay there with her eyes closed. “Let me see that pussy.” He licked his lips and watched as Yay spread her legs wide open. “You my bitch. You know that?” Yay nodded her head to agree. “I can’t hear you.”

“Yes, daddy, I’m your bitch.” Yay arched her back as she played with her pearl tongue. Wack slapped her hand out of the way and dropped to his knees.

“You my bitch,” he repeated right before he dived in and feasted on her goodies.

“Oh, oh, oh… Wack,” Yay moaned as she rubbed her hands through his curly hair, and, at the same time, guiding his head. “Baby, shit… mmmmm… daddy.” She rotated her hips as if she was fucking him. Her body shook. He grabbed her legs and held her tight, flickering his tongue on her sensitive spot. “I’mmmmmm cummmmm…” She lightly pulled his hair. Wack plugged her hole with his tongue. Yay trembled. “I loveeeeeee youuuuuuuuu…” She flooded a river in Wack’s mouth. Satisfied that he pleased his bitch, Wack stood up. He looked at Yay and she looked spent. He cracked a smiled and wiped his mouth.

“You belong to me. You think you leaving me? I will kill you.” Yay opened her eyes and looked at him. Tears ran down her face. “Fuck you crying for, blood?”

“Nothing.” She shook her head and wiped her face.

  “I asked you a question.”

“It’s just that, you act like you don’t care about me anymore. It’s like I don’t know what I did. I love you, boo. I’m here.”

  “You here for me, huh?”

“Yes.” She used her arm to prop up on the bed.

“My money getting short. I need you back at the club. It’s time to get this money.” He sat next to her.

“I’m down, boo.” She placed her arms around his neck. “I’m your Bonnie, baby. I’m here.”

“I hear you talking.” He gave her the side eye.

  “I’m serious. I’m here.”

Wack moved his head back and looked into her eyes. “Tell me about ya pops.”

  “Who, Uncle Calvin?”

  “Uncle?”

  “It’s a long stor
y,” she explained.

“I’m listening.” She told him her life story. The more she talked about it, the more she despised everyone in her family. Jazz the worst.

  Chapter 10- Jazz

Jazz had been going through therapy for the last few days. Although the doctors said that she was making much progress, she wasn’t excited about it one bit. How could she when she wasn’t able to have the support of the ones she loved? He grandmother came and visited her the day before, but Jazz refused to speak to her. She had walked out on her a few days ago and now she was back, for what? Jazz still held a grudge against her grandmother. When her mother died, her grandmother showed her true colors and she didn’t think that she would forgive her anytime soon for the harsh things she said. The lady was just spiteful and she confirmed it when she visited.

“Jazz,” her grandmother called out to her. “I remember when we were so close. I don’t understand why you allow my feelings toward your mother ruin what we had. We had a good relationship.” Jazz snapped her head to the side and looked at her grandmother with an evil glare. “Look, Jazz, no matter how you feel about me and your father, we are all you have.” She shook her head. “Your father told me how you acted when he came by the house. After all that man did for you from prison, paying for you to attend that expensive dance studio, and not to mention the top of the line clothes you wore because of him. Your moth…” She caught herself. “Jazz, you will have to talk to me, to us, one day soon. After all, you will come stay with us. Your so-called man will be in prison for a very long time.”

Jazz didn’t say a word. Although, she wanted more answers about Ken, she refused to ask. She wanted badly to lash out on her grandmother, too. It seemed as if she was rubbing it in her face how she had nobody but them. Jazz refused to give her a reaction, she stayed quiet. Mrs. Lewis stood to her feet. She walked close up on Jazz’s bed and leaned over all the way in her face.

“If it was left up to me, your little ass would be in a home some damn where. I don’t want to deal with you just like you don’t want to deal with me. You’re your mother’s child and I can’t stand her.” She raised up, turned her nose, and rolled her eyes. The nurse walked in couldn’t believe what she had overheard. Mrs. Lewis looked the nurse up and down, they seemed to be about the same age.

  “Hello,” said the nurse.

Mrs. Lewis ignored her. She looked back at Jazz. “Granny loves you. Your daddy will be up here soon.” She blew Jazz a kiss and left.

That was four days ago and Jazz was glad that she hadn’t seen any of them since. The only two people she wanted to see where the ones she loved with all her heart, her mother and Ken. She touched her belly when she thought of her mom. If it’s a girl, I will name her after you, she thought as if her mom could hear her. Jazz thought of her baby not having a father or a grandmother, and she began to cry so hard that her body started to shiver.

“What am I going to do? I need you guys.” She sobbed.

  ~ Pam ~

Pam sat on the front porch, allowing the cool breeze to roam her body as she watched the rabbits and squirrels play. Being in the hills away from the city, away from the fog and violence allowed her to relax more than she ever did in city.

“Here you go.” Pam looked up at Officer Michaels. She took the glass of tea from his hand.

“Thank you.” She smiled and sipped from the mug.

“You’re welcome.” Michaels took a swig from his cup. Both of their eyes landed on the family of geese that walked toward the pond. "How did you sleep last night?" asked Michaels.

"Very little." Michaels noticed Pam staring intently as the geese.

"I wonder where their coming from?"

Just above a whisper, Pam replied, "I don't know, but wherever it was, they’re together." Pam’s heart saddened looking at the baby geese, who even they had their family, and there she was stuck. I gotta make my move, she thought as she looked up at Michaels.

  "What's the matter, Pam?"

"Men. I thought they we're supposed to protect their women, treat us like the queens we are?" She shrugged her shoulders. "I guess times has changed."

"Dealing with a man, you'll get all you deserve and more. When dealing with an adult male, there is no telling what you'll get. A man protects theirs from everything and everyone, including himself."

Pam stood up from the steps. "If you say so." She turned and walked back into the house. Michaels waited until she called his name before he went in behind her. As soon as he walked in the door, Pam grabbed him by the arm, reached up, and kissed him. He kissed her back. Pam pulled at his shirt. "Make me feel good," she begged in between kisses. She pulled him by the arms as she walked backwards toward the sofa. “I need this." She pulled down her sweats and pulled her shirt over her head. Michaels was rock hard. Pam already had that touch, but her body made it that much harder to resist. He had to, though. He looked her up and down.

"Pam, I want you, but not like this." He thought of the other night. They were almost there and she reneged. Although he was a bit disappointed that she left him with blue balls, he accepted and respected it. Pam was working on pure emotion, she was only using him to cover her pain. He could tell.

"So you don't want me? Are you gay?" She put her hands on her hips. She needed to make a move. She needed for them to get a little closer so it would be easier to make a run for it.

"Don't disrespect my manhood like that. I'm a man. Men don't take advantage of women. I want you, no doubt, but not like this."

"Well, you know there will never be anything more. You have your life and I'm stuck here." She fanned her hand. "Just get out." She picked her clothes off the floor and headed toward the room.

Fuck! Michael's cursed himself as he looked down at his swollen manhood. He hurried and walked outside.

Pam lay in the room in the bed cradled in a fetal position. She was on the verge of crying, but she wasn't about to. She was tired of crying, she had to make a move and quick. Bingo! She got up from the bed and hurried to restroom. She searched the medicine cabinets for something to assist her. She grabbed the sleeping pills and a bottle of Visine. This is it. She grabbed both bottles and went to the kitchen.

Michaels stood on the porch listening to Young Jeezy on his boom box when Pam walked out. He turned and looked at her, but turned back around. He was little pissed with her for calling him gay.

"It's getting chilly, I made cocoa." She sat the tray on the table and took the cocoa filled cup with whipped cream and marshmallows on top. "Jazz loves my cocoa." She reached her hand out. "Try it." Michael's took the cocoa from her.

"Thank you." He smelled it. "Is it safe to drink?" Pam’s eyes widened, "Wh… why?

"I'm kidding, babe." Michaels slipped up.

Pam smiled. She then took her cup and sipped from it. "I put on a movie. Would you care to join me?"

"Is that your way of apologizing?"

  “I’m sorry."

"Let's go.” He held the door open for Pam and they went in the house.

Pam was a nervous wreck as she watched Michaels take sips from his cocoa. She hoped she didn't put too much in there. God, please, don't let me kill this man.

"Why aren't you looking at the movie? He caught her staring."

"I am." Pam cut her eyes to the television and drank her cocoa.

"This is good. I hope you made enough so I can have seconds." Michaels held up the cup and looked at it

"I did." Within the next five minutes, Michael's began to yawn. It's working, Pam thought. She'd put sleeping pills in his drink and a dab of Visine.

"Excuse me. Find another movie, this is boring. I need to use the restroom."

“Ok.” Has he gotten the bubble guts? Pam read somewhere that the Visine made you have boo boo.

It took Michael’s a few minutes to come out the restroom. When he did, he sat next to her and laid his head back on the couch. Pam slowly eased next to him and lay on his chest. She was low key seeing how his heart was beating while acting rom
antic. Michaels began to feel really tired.

“I told you about me, tell me about you.” Pam made small talk.

“I thought we were going to watch a movie?” Michaels looked at Pam and smiled.

“Oh, oh yeah.” She grabbed the remote from the table. She flipped through the channels on the television until she found a movie. Pam sat there impatiently waiting for the first sign of Michaels to be asleep so she could make a dash for it.

“I need to use the restroom. I’ll be right back.” She quickly got up and made her way to the restroom. She took a minute to gather her thoughts before she left out and went into the room. She took off her shirt and put on another one. It was already a little chilly so she knew by the time she made it to Mrs. Brown’s, the weather would be cooler. Pam slid on her Uggs and walked back into the living room.

“Would you like some more cocoa?” She stood over Michaels.

“No, I’m good.” He stood up.

“Where are you going?” Pam asked, alarmed.

“My stomach is bothering me.” He walked to the restroom.

He’ll be in there a long time. She was sure that the Visine must’ve kicked in. “Ok.” She went to the kitchen, looking behind her in the process. In the kitchen, she took out a cup and sat it on the counter. She turned on the faucet and allowed the water to run on full blast. Pam tip toed back to the living room to see if Michaels had returned, he hadn’t. Pam ran back to the kitchen, lifted up the window over the sink, and pushed out the screen. Her heart thumped hard because she was so scared of the consequences of being caught, but she had to do what she had to do. Her daughter needed her. Maybe I should wait. She paced back and forth. Maybe I should take Calvin down first. She put her hands on her hips. She looked up at the clock and thought she’d better make a decision and fast. Officer F would be showing up within the next hour or less. Pam rested her head on the sink. I don’t know what to do. I am sure when they realize I’m gone, they will be coming after me. Where would I hide? Where would I go? How can I protect Jazz if I am on the run? She shook her head. I can’t I can’t do this, I have to do this the right way. She turned the water off and walked back into the living room.
