While Scout talked LeVar’s ear off about criminal profiling, Darren sliced a hot dog and tossed pieces to Jack. The massive pup snatched the chunks out of the air and swallowed them whole.

Thomas set the walking stick on the lawn and relaxed in an Adirondack chair. It felt wonderful to rest his legs. After setting the baked beans on the picnic table, Chelsey fell into the chair beside him. She gave him a wink and dropped her head back. As the sun poured golden warmth over the yard, he wanted to ask her to move in. Every moment beside Chelsey was worth cherishing.

“If these cookouts get any larger,” she said, closing her eyes, “we’ll have to rent out the football stadium.”

“There’ll always be enough room for friends and family.” He touched his heart. “Love is limitless.”
