If you’re looking to read more about Nazi Germany and the Hitler Youth, I highly recommend Susan Campbell Bartoletti’s award-winning book Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler’s Shadow, which follows twelve different young people growing up in Nazi Germany before and during the war. It was an invaluable resource to me in writing Projekt 1065.
Thanks again to my terrific editor Aimee Friedman, to David Levithan, and to everyone behind the scenes at Scholastic: Emily Rader, Joy Simpkins, Nina Goffi, Bess Braswell, Jennifer Abbots, Lizette Serrano, Antonio Gonzalez, Ed Masessa, Jana Haussman, everyone in the Fairs and Clubs, and beyond. You guys are awesome. Special thanks to my fellow Bat Cave writers for their critiques: Renée Ahdieh, Gabrielle Charbonnet, Megan Miranda, Rebecca Petruck, Carrie Ryan, Megan Shepherd, and particularly Gwenda Bond and Terra McVoy. I’d also like to thank my agent Holly Root—welcome to the Gratz Industries team!—and my great friend Bob. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the teachers, librarians, and booksellers out there who continue to put my books into the hands of young readers; you know who you are, and you’re rock stars! Thank you. And last but never least, much love and thanks to Wendi and Jo.
