Cath piped up from the vid window form manuevering. “Almost no one there means almost no witnesses, dearie.”

“Telescopes would be trained on us twenty four seven, so hopefully that won’t be a problem. But I do admire me a good paranoia.” Moses replied. “Anyone else?”

Sam, former security operative for the Government and Governor of Haven, “Speaking from a security standpoint the more eyeballs the better.” Beside her, Rafe nodded.

“The greater the amount of people angry at you, the better it is to stay in view of a lot of witnesses.” He pointed at Moses through the screen. “And you have pissed off a WHOLE passel of people.”

Moses nodded, unperturbed. “It’s a gift.” He looked around. “So, any other input from the nosebleed seats? Besides from Doug, who is shutting up now please and thank you?”

“You’re welcome.” Doug replied from the galley vid screen.

“Okay.” Moses leaned back in the command chair ― a more difficult maneuver than you would expect in zero gee ― and looked around. “Everyone makes a good point, and I have considered them all carefully. And we’re going to do what I planned to do in the first place.”

  “Why am I not surprised?”

He glanced over at Ami. “Because you know me so well, dear. But I still think it’s our best bet. LEO it is.”

“I approve.” Leo piped in from the engineering spaces. “If for no other reason that the excellent name. Still going circumpolar?”

“Yeah. We’ll be passing over the whole surface of the planet in convenient slices as we go ‘round, so it’ll be harder for them to try to board us surreptitiously.”

“They probably won’t. They’ll just board us titiously, instead. And yes, I know it’s not a word. But it should be.”

Moses grinned. “Can’t argue with you there, babe. Okay.” He slapped his hands together. “Send the orbital request listing — what, a thousand klicks? Yeah, a polar orbit of a thousand klicks, then aim for there no matter what the response. In fact, ignore any response. And we’ll start dumping data when we get there. Now who’s up for some chow?”
