“Just the ladies extolling the virtues of your young handyman,” Kel filled him in dryly.

“Nothing new there,” the detective remarked. “Echo, can I speak with you for a moment?” he asked, heading for the front door.

Mystified, Missy watched her friend follow her husband outside. “I wonder what that’s all about,” she said to Kel.

“I’ve learned that it’s best not to ask those sorts of questions around the holidays. He’s probably just asking her opinion on what he should get you for a Christmas gift,” the artist shrugged.

“He doesn’t have to get me anything. Having a wonderful husband who loves me is gift enough,” she smiled dreamily.

“Gross,” Kel teased with a grin.

“You’re just jealous,” she stuck her tongue out at him.

  “Indeed.”

Echo came back in then, without Chas.

“What did you do to chase that poor man away?” Kel asked with a mischievous look.

“I threatened to convince his wife to make the Christmas party entirely vegan,” she shot back.

“That would cause me to go running into the street,” the artist nodded.

“Good luck with that,” Missy commented. “Sounds like we have some party planning to do.”

“Count me out, dear ladies…those kinds of details terrify me, so I’ll leave you to it,” he rose and bowed slightly before leaving.

“Chicken,” Echo taunted, calling after him.

“Sounds delicious my vegan beauty,” he gave his parting shot.

Missy giggled. “This is going to be fun.”
