1971 to 1973 Formula 2
James Hunt first tried Formula Two in 1971 for a single race, with a car which he had borrowed from March. He participated full time in Formula Two from late 1972 until May 1973 in a number of British and European championship events as well as a couple in Brazil at the end of 1972. His best result was third at Oulton Park in September 1972.

APPENDIX VI
1973 to 1979 Formula 1
James Hunt competed in Formula One during seven seasons, driving for Hesketh Racing from 1973 to 1975. It was at the Dutch Grand Prix in 1975 that he won his first Grand Prix. He drove for Marlboro Team McLaren in 1976 and 1977, and Walter Wolf Racing in 1978 and 1979. With Hesketh, he drove a March 731 until Brazil in 1974, then a Hesketh 308 and 308B. He drove a McLaren M23 throughout 1976, which won him the World Championship. In 1977, he continued with the M23 and then the M26 to the end of 1978. In 1979, he drove a Wolf WR7 and WR8.
