AWe could use the telescope after the building closes to the public,@ she responded. AMeet me there tonight at nine. I’ve got to get home. Mom is expecting me to help her in the kitchen this evening. She is cooking something special and I promised I’d help her.@ She kissed him on the cheek and left.

At nine they met at the observatory entrance. Sarina=s father, Eric, was with her. The computer equipment was still running from the day=s activity when they entered the main door to the observatory. Jeff explained to Mr. Roberts what he wanted to do, handing him what he believed to be the coordinates of the planet, Dos.

AWe have searched that area of Orion many times and haven’t found any planets surrounding those stars, but I’ll put in the coordinates. Maybe this time something will show up,@ Eric Roberts responded.

When nothing showed up Jeff inquired. ADo you have any filters for your equipment?@

AYes, we have used them from time to time, but it doesn’t seem to change anything,@ he replied.

With the coordinates on the computer Jeff suggested, AWhy not add gamma rays and go through the various filters again?@ They watched the changes to the screen, but still no planets appeared. AMaybe we are using the wrong rays. Are there any other rays you can add?@ Mr. Roberts checked the remainder but nothing made any difference. They finally gave up. Eric stored the coordinates in the computer.

AThe possibilities are endless but it’s getting late,@ Mr. Roberts remarked. ALet me work on this another time to see if I can find something for you. The idea of adding filters to rays fascinates me. I’ll check it out.@ They shut off the computer equipment and left the observatory.

Sarina and Jeff went for a walk discussing his meditations. He wanted to know if she would like to visit this new planet, and she responded with a quick enthusiastic, yes. They walked to her car and he sat next to her for a while holding her and nibbled on her ear. ANot now,@ she replied pulling away. He guessed this wasn’t the time or the place as they both seemed a bit pre-occupied with other thoughts. Finally she invited him to have dinner at her house the following day. They kissed good night. He got out of the car and watched it pull out of the lot.

  *

The following evening he visited her family for dinner. They were having the leftovers of Mrs. Robert’s new recipe. After dinner the young couple sat on the patio watching stars and Jeff suggested they meditate. They sat quietly opposite each other, both holding the crystal. He explained every step, every movement, they encountered. She felt her way with him using her spirit sight as they moved through dimensions and energy belts. Finally Jeff said they were there, and she felt as though she had entered the crystal ball. They were standing on a cliff overlooking the valley below. She was spell-bound seeing a different planet for the first time. The colors, the energy, the peacefulness, all were beyond comparison to anything she had ever encountered. Jeff took her hands and together they moved down the valley into the city below.

The next day in Washington DC at a staff meeting, Jim Brown the Agency Chief reported that someone had breached the Federal AIA=s files, even the video portions, and had accessed top-secret information. AIt can’t get into the public=s hands,@ he said firmly. AIt’ll destroy everything we’re trying to accomplish, and we’ve traced this hacking to the Denver area.@

“I’ll take care of it Chief,@ Alex Binder, the local representative responded. AI have an idea who it might be. Consider it handled.@

AGood. Report back to me when it’s done,@ Brown added.

Back in Denver Bobby stopped over at Jeff=s house with a flash drive in his hand and a big smile on his face. Jeff had just finished breakfast with his Mom, and she asked Bobby if he had breakfast, AThanks Mrs. Martin, I just ate, but I’ll have a cup of coffee.@

Coffee cups in hand the boys went to the study. AYou’ve got to see what I downloaded this morning. I know you won=t believe it, but the people we are dealing with have more information on you. Turn on your computer and let me show you.@

Jeff booted up his laptop, slipped the flash drive into the port, pressed ‘enter’ and pictures appeared on the screen. He then clicked up the volume and heard his own voice. He saw himself standing on the stage in the auditorium at school. His Dad was behind him.

ASomeone at AIA has taped the whole thing. Unless there was more than one person from the agency it had to be that Cleaver woman or the place is bugged. Are there any more entries,@ Jeff asked?

AYes,@ exclaimed Bobby. “There is an entry for another lecture and your interview at their headquarters.@

AWhy would they do that,@ Jeff wondered aloud?

AI don’t know, but the list of names you have, has asterisks after certain names, yours included. They are making videos of everyone they suspect of being a star child.@

ABobby, I think it’s time to terminate your connection to those files. If you can get to them, they can get to you. I=m very concerned.@

AI agree. Do you want this, Jeff?@ Bobby handed Jeff the flash drive.

AYes, I want to see the whole thing. I want to know just what I said that they might find so interesting. Thanks.@

Bobby said. AWell, I have to go. I have a date with Heidi. I’m so glad we are back together. I really missed her. Do you know what it’s like lying awake all night longing to hold her, afraid you may never see her again?

She was concerned about my accident and called me. I promised I wouldn’t let her down again. And, you are right. I am in love with her. Have a great day.@ He left with a smile on his face.

Jeff sat there in disbelief viewing various scenes, the Soup Kitchen, the auditorium, and the parade. He knew the AIA wouldn’t allow Bobby continued access to their files. Were they setting a trap? He feared for his friend. Whatever had been set in motion would have to be experienced, but he hoped that Bobby=s life would be spared.

  Chapter 7

Jeff took his last final and couldn’t wait for the graduation ceremonies. He hadn’t found a job yet, but his politician friend, Leslie Storm, had given him a lead to an organization called the Bell Foundation. They were interviewing for a liaison to visit various charitable groups around the world who were seeking funds and assistance from the Foundation. He thought the job would be better served by someone like Sarina who was majoring in journalism, but he had an intense desire to serve mankind, and thought this might be a good place to start.

He was running an errand for his Mom when he spied the familiar black Ford parked across the street. Figuring Jones and Cleaver were there to see him he approached the car. AGood morning,@ he tried to act cheerful. AWhat brings you to this end of town?@

AYou do,@ Jones quipped not mixing words or taking time for salutations. AWe have been informed that someone in your neighborhood has been tapping into government files. Do you know anyone skilled enough in computers who would violate the law breaking into top-secret files?@ His speech was short and to the point. Cleaver stared out the passenger=s window not wanting to be a part of any confrontation.

AIf telling you violates a trust, Mr. Jones, I can’t betray it. I know everyone in this neighborhood, so yes I probably do.@

AI think you know who it is,@ Jones smirked. If I find out that you are harboring a criminal I’ll have you arrested.@

AI wanted our relationship to be friendly, and I’ll try to keep it so. You have a mission. That’s what you are getting paid for, to investigate unusual happenings, but I’d prefer to take my chances in a court of law,@ Jeff said sensing that this agent wouldn’t want the courts blowing their cover.

Jones didn’t like this young college kid out-foxing him. AWell, we’ll see about that.@ He put the car in gear and drove off.

Jeff thought, >Wow, he didn’t even say good-bye.= Suddenly he remembered what John had told him before he fell asleep last night, he could either arise to the challenge o
f what he came here to do or he could opt out. He had to rise it was too late to opt out.

In the evening Jeff decided to have another meditation, only this time, he would go to Dos. Getting into a comfortable position at his desk he closed his eyes. He didn’t want to fall asleep in the middle of his meditation which he thought he had done the previous night. Holding the crystal ball he quickly relaxed into a meditative state. He arrived on Dos in the center of town. Not knowing where his great uncle dwelled he decided to look around. He approached what looked like the local university. He was standing in the center of a large landscaped area with sidewalks leading to buildings lining the perimeter. The only buildings in focus were the ones he actually looked at, and the others blended into the periphery. If one didn’t know the planet was inhabited, they would probably see nothing.

As shapes passed by, he became aware they were human, but they had a misty quality to them. Only when he said, AHello,@ did they take on a personality, definition, and character. He met several people from Earth. Apparently there were now quite a few star children on his home planet, and their spirits were gravitating to Dos just as he did searching for knowledge. He assumed their mission was the same as his, to help bring peace to Earth.

He was about to leave when he saw a familiar figure approaching him. AHello,@ John waved a greeting. AHave you been waiting long?@

ANo, I didn’t know where you lived, so I’ve been getting reacquainted with the surroundings,@ Jeff returned the greeting.

AI live in your thoughts. That’s where everything resides. Think of going to see me and you are there.@

AI don’t understand,@ Jeff replied. AI know many people live on your planet, but I see so few. When we went to the library almost no one was there. Here on a campus that should be busy I hardly see anyone.@

AThat’s because you are looking with your eyes. Change your focus, see with your thoughts,@ he suggested. AOn Dos, vibrations ride on certain frequencies like radio waves. There can be five hundred people in the same cubicle in the library or a thousand people on campus, but you will only see those on your wave length. Yes, there is an occasional bleed through when vibrations are similar. You talk to them and they take shape.@

AI understand, John, but what’s this all about? Why am I here, what is my purpose?@

John explained. AThe problem on Earth is severe and the vibrations causing it are mostly of human origin. It’s being perpetuated by a vibration of greed, a desire to accumulate. There’s a universal law of expansion and contraction. Where expansion is an energy that allows the universe to provide more and more of everything, contraction has an element that seeks to possess what belongs to others. This tug-of-war energy puts stress on everything including the environment, the Earth=s crust, and even extends out into the solar system. It’s influencing the behavior of other planets. Humans and spirits have tried to correct this disturbance over time but their attempts have failed. Drastic steps are now being taken to make another correction before it’s too late. That’s why a group of spirits volunteered their next cycle on planet Earth. They began migrating over fifty years ago and are now in the thousands. You’re one of those spirits.@ John=s image began to fade and Jeff found himself back in his room. He didn’t know why his connection was lost, maybe a disturbance in the ethers. He decided against reconnecting and went to bed.

It was two in the afternoon when Sarina called to tell Jeff she had just finished her last final. Could they go to the observatory that evening? Her father had some questions about this mysterious planet and wanted Jeff’s advice. He was happy to oblige as he could spend time with her afterwards.

He sang to himself as he drove into town to pick her up, and shortly they pulled into the observatory parking lot. AHow did your exam go today?” He asked Sarina as they approached the observatory entrance. “Are you glad it’s over?@

AYes, it went well. I don’t think I missed too many questions, and I’m really glad school is over. I needed a break,” she replied.

AHi,@ Eric greeted them as they entered the room. AI took your advice and tried several combinations of filters and colors. When one takes a moving picture of a car the wheels appear to be turning backwards. Likewise, when I attempt to change wave lengths while rotating colors and rays, I get similar results. Here, take a look. I wanted you to see this.@

They all sat down as Eric punched keys on the computer focusing on the Orion Cluster. As it came into view he magnified it closer and closer until only the central star on the right was in view. He had programmed the computer to change colors and filters with a key stroke enabling him to changed wave frequencies. At first there was some distortion. Colored specks appeared surrounding the star.

Jeff spoke up emphatically. ALeave it there for a moment.@ He wanted to see what would happen. Slowly a planet came into focus, not in white but in a shimmering pastel color.

AHow could that happen?@ Eric inquired.

AI don’t really know. Can you get a picture of it? Maybe the next time it won’t be so clear,@ Jeff asserted nervously.

Sarina was excited. This was new for her and she leaned forward to get a better look. AI don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before. It’s shimmering in a creamy pastel color, but not a color I know.@ After studying the picture for a moment she spoke up, ADad, can we see other sectors of space through these filters?@

AGreat idea,@ Eric replied. Saving the settings he recalibrated the instruments changing the direction of the telescope. All of a sudden space debris started showing up in color as the telescope panned the sky. AYou are right. We have relied on light reflection to see the stars, and we have missed so much. Now, we are seeing satellites, meteors, and space ripples that regular light doesn’t reflect. I’ve got to record this. It’s a great discovery, a whole new dimension of the universe.@ He was so excited he could hardly contain himself. All of his years in Astronomy he’d never discovered anything, and now he had the biggest find of the century. They all were excited. AWhat shall we call this process?@ He looked at Sarina and Jeff questioningly.

ACall it T-Rays, T for thought,@ Jeff remarked.

AGood idea. We’ll call it T-Rays. You kids go out and have some fun. I’m going to stay here and use T-Rays to see what else I can find. I certainly won’t be able to sleep until I have made a lot of notes. I hope your mom won=t mind.@

AYou better call her, Dad,@ Sarina reminded him. AYou know how upset she gets when you work late.@

AI’ll do that, now run along. I’ve got work to do.@

Sarina and Jeff walked hand in hand to the car. AWhat would you like to do tonight,@ she asked? AWould you like to go dancing?@

ADancing would be fine, @ Jeff responded. He wanted her to decide where to go. The day had been inspiring for him, his trip to Dos the night before and now actually seeing it on the telescope. She was finally out of school for the summer, and he was graduating next week. AYes!@ He responded with enthusiasm as they got in the car. AIt’s time to celebrate!@

They could feel the rhythm of the music out in the parking lot as they approached the door to the bar. With finals over the place was packed and everyone wanted to party. The music went on for several hours as they danced and partied with fellow students. Before they knew it the lights came on announcing last call. Jeff drove her home then headed up the turnpike to his place.

  *

The following afternoon Jeff sat in Sarina=s living room with her Mom and Dad. They were discussing the T-Ray discovery.

Sarina spoke up, ADad, now that I’ve completed my last journalism class; I could write an article on your discovery for the newspaper. Better yet, why not call a press conference at the observatory?@

AI’ve already notified the institute, but to publish an article is too soon. I want to learn all I can first. There are other considerations. This discovery opens a whole new dimension of astronomy
and other sciences. For instance, can frequency really shorten the wave lengths of light? We assume light rays are only one speed, maybe not. Maybe they can be lengthened or shortened. What about other dimensions in space? Could one travel in another dimension of space and pass through a planet occupying the same spot, like parallel worlds? What about impulse power? These T-Rays may even shrink space, find anomalies, and show the orbital trails of planets that escape regular vision. I want to check all this out first before I make the final announcement. But, I promise you will have the first exclusive. After all you were present when we made the find.@

Sarina=s Mother was silently listening to their conversation. AWhat about me? I could write some articles, maybe a book on the subject.@

AThat’s right, Honey. I forgot all about your writing ability. I’m sorry,@ Eric replied winking at his wife.

AWell, you know dear, they’ll want you to speak on the subject. Someone will have to write your speeches. I guess this could keep us all busy for a while.@ She was happy to be drawn into the loop.

Jeff sat quietly half listening to their discussion while also thinking about his college graduation the following week. He had no idea whether to go back to school for a Masters in Humanities, or go to work. He was sure his Dad was tired of paying his bills, and wanted him to settle down, but still a Masters would look good on his resume. Sarina’s mother startled him when she said. AJeff would you like to stay for dinner?@

AWhat? Oh yes, sure, I would,@ he replied not sure of what she said, but agreeing anyway.

The two women went into the kitchen to put finishing touches on dinner while Eric and Jeff sat discussing the planet Dos. Jeff was more focused on psychic travel, where Eric preferred the scientific side of things. If the day ever came when Eric set foot on this distant planet he would believe what Jeff was saying. Out of politeness Eric sat there nodding his head, agreeing with what Jeff said. Finally they were called to sit down for dinner, and Eric was happy to end the conversation.
