Marcus was right to think that my house would be crawling with feds. But, he managed to sneak by them. He broke in my back door. I was so happy to see him again. I had missed my boy. Anyway, he asked for my help. I said I’d love to give him a helping hand, but he had to stick to my plan. The feds had to believe he was dead. That way, they would stop chasing him. My people at the Pentagon said that they would kill you, too, but only if you were present. The feds don’t like to leave witnesses.

Speaking of which, the four witnesses to Marcus’s supposed accident are my employees. I’m sorry about your truck, but it was quintessential to my plan. I told them to wait until the road was clear and use a piece of wood to jam the throttle down. The body they used was a ‘John Doe”. The coroner owed me a favor. All they needed after that was a spark.

Last night, I called my son’s friend, James and invited him over. I told him everything and asked for his help. He would pretend to recognize his body. He was a little upset, but in the end, he agreed.

Again, I’m sorry for everything we had to put you through. You take good care of yourself and my son.

P.S. I will buy you a brand-new truck. It’s the least I can do for the woman who brought Marcus out in the open.

  Best Regards,

  David Donovan

“Smart plan,” Helen commented. “But, I still have a couple of questions.”

  “Shoot.”

“James asked me if I wanted to see the body. Why would he take that chance?” She inquired.

“He knows you too well.” Marcus replied, his voice calm and steady. “He knew you wouldn’t go anywhere near that coffin.”

“That he does.” She agreed. “How long had you been standing out there?”

“Well…” He gave a snort of amusement. “I’d been looking through your window for a while, but, I couldn’t just knock. I would have awakened your parents. When you came into the kitchen, I just slipped that paper under the door to get your attention.”

“Ok, last question.” Helen announced. “What happened to your beard? Why did you have your hair cut?”

“I didn’t need those anymore.” Marcuse heaved a deep sigh. “They were part of a disguise. Why are you asking? Do you want me to grow a beard again?”

“I don’t care,” She whispered, lightly shaking her head. “You’re alive. You’re here.”

Helen tilted her head up, seeking his lips, but she never had the chance to kiss him again. The living room light was turned on, as someone pressed the light switch on the wall.

“Holy shit!” It was her father. “Holy mother of God!” He spoke in his hoarse voice; eyes open wide in disbelief, he slowly walked up to them. “Debs! Come here! You’re not going to believe this!”

“Oh, crap…” Helen hummed, turning around to face him. “Good morning, dad.”

“Marcus, is that you, son?” Dwight wondered, his voice starting to shake.

“Yeah,” Marcus gave a firm nod.

“Oh, my God!” Debbie interjected, joining them in the living room. “He’s alive! How is that…?”

“Very long story.” Marcus interrupted, raising his hand to his chest.

“The man who saved my skin:” Dwight smiled. “The guy who took out Kendrick.”

“Dad, are there any news about that?” Helen asked.

“The cops found his car, three days ago.” Dwight informed. “They identified him. The Sheriff closed the case this morning. Nobody wants to look into the murder of a couple of bastards like them. But: enough of that. Come. I want to hear that story.”

Helen’s parents listened carefully, as she narrated everything. Debbie and Dwight were shocked quite a few times, particularly when they heard that their daughter had been targeted by the government. All the same, by the time her long narrative was over, they were both relieved, smiling at each other.

Helen was somewhat disappointed that her moment with Marcus had been interrupted. But, it didn’t matter. What did matter was that the man who had captured her heart was back in her life. She would have plenty of chances to be alone with him in the future. For now, she would relish his presence beside her; listen to his voice, feeling closer to him than she had ever been…

  Chapter Thirty-Two

  Three days later

For the first time since the beginning of their relationship, Helen and Marcus were free to roam the world. And, they were going to make the best of it. Without much thought, they decided to return to Los Angeles, to the place where they had spent their first night together and one more night with her friends: Butterfly Beach.

Michelle, Gina, James and Rick were already there, waiting for them. As Helen and Marcus walked alongside each other though, she noticed one more, feminine figure. Her long, whiskey hair looked very familiar. It was Olivia.

The air was filled with cheers and pretentious screams, as their eyes met. The three friends began to sprint along the beach, whereas Gina and the men preferred a more relaxed pace. Helen’s heart was pounding in her chest, watching as her two friends got closer and closer. In a matter of seconds, she was lost in a tight group hug, as her ears were filled with their voices.

“It’s wonderful to see you again, guys!” She said, her own voice gone blissful.

“Welcome back, sweetheart.” Olivia uttered, rubbing her hand up and down her friend’s back.

“Great to have you back, baby.” Michelle spoke, squeezing her shoulder.

“Chicks…” Rick scoffed, pointing at them.

“Whatever…” Gina muttered under her breath. “It’s nice to see you, Shandaken girl.”

“You, too, Gina.” Helen smiled, easing out of her friend’s embrace, as the men exchanged cordial hugs with one another. “James…” She added, turning to Olivia’s husband. “I owe you a slap in the face.”

“Ooooh, that’s gonna hurt!” Rick laughed.

“A slap?” James squinted at her. “Why?”

“I’m just messing with you.” Helen said, as a broad smile spread across her face. “Thank you; for everything.”

“My pleasure,” James gave a satisfied nod.

“What do you think, Mr.?” Helen lowered her voice, as Marcus took a few, slow steps towards her. “Can we make this night as great as the last one?”

“You bet,” He whispered, pulling her into his embrace. “It’s going to be even better.”

Helen spoke no more. Resting her head on his chest, she savored his embrace, feeling blessed for finding true love. She had lost him once, but now that they were back together, she was going to do everything in her power to hold on to the man who had stolen her heart, one night in Barbados: Her very own, dark angel…

BONUS SNEAK PEEK: Chasing Bad Boys Book 2

  Chapter One

This is my life, and it’s a good one. It’s a simple life. Well, simple for a business man, I suppose. My name is James Mont, and I consider myself to be an exceptional human being. I don’t necessarily mean that I am a crazy nice guy or anything like that; I just mean I’m exceptional. You can call it vanity if you want, but I know it’s true. Although I believe there is a fine line between vanity and just having greatness.

You can call it narcissism if you really want to, but for me, I just know I’m that man women want and that man that other men want to be. This is true for a number of reasons. One, I am a multi-billionaire who really does not do much to maintain that status. My business was inherited, and in the past year alone I have tripled our annual income. I live extravagantly, and sometimes I live lazily because I can. I own a dietary supplement line, and they sell like hot cakes; we cater to both men and women athletes. Second reason, I am fit. As the CEO of a large corporation that promotes healthy living, I have to stay fit. Honestly, I do more work out in gyms than I do working in the office, but it's okay because I love working out. I am fine looking, and I know it. Rich, fit, confident –who wouldn’t want to be me? And throw all those things together and you get the third reason why I am one to be envied: women love me. Even
this bitch: Éclair Beauchene, and yes, that’s French.

Éclair is my business rival, owning the second largest dietary supplement line in the nation right behind me. While she’s definitely got me beat on a world-wide scale, I have the numbers within the states where my fellow American’s eat up stupid stuff like steroids and vitamins. My business, I like to remind her, has much greater successes. Despite being my rival, Éclair is my favorite little Fuck Buddy, and she is more than happy to be so despite our differences in the business world. Looking back, I’m not really sure how that happened. There was always a sexual tension between us whenever we would try to strike a deal: we were always buying up each other’s old factories or trying to trade and buy ingredients to various products, and we had always wound up in heated discussions that often involved shouting matches. One evening in her office we really had gotten into it, and then all of a sudden we weren’t yelling anymore and had started making out.

There is no denying that Éclair and I have an unusual relationship. It’s just for the sex, and we are both pleased to keep it that way. We’re both athletes and CEO’s –an unusual combination, but it works for both of us. Our relationship, apart from the physical aspect, is one of intellect –quite different from most of the women I run with. Right now we are in my flat in LA, the bedroom, of course, because where else would we be?

It had been Éclair’s idea to put a mirror on my ceiling; she had been joking, of course, but it is turning out to be one of the best things I’ve done for myself in a considerable amount of time. We’re on top of the blankets, and I’m lying on my back as she straddles me. I’m not sure whether to look at her breasts or stare up at the mirror on the ceiling at her backside. I find my eyes jumping back and forth between the two. She is the kind of woman who likes to be in control, but every once in a while she surprises me. “Veux-tu esayer l’amour en levrette?” she asks in the middle of a pant, and I have no idea what she is saying. She knows I love the French thing.

“Oui,” I say, and she hurries off of me and proceeds to prop herself up on her hands and knees. “Oh! Oui!” I say and get on my knees behind her and press myself into her vagina.

“Oui! Plus vite!” she shouts, and I speed up as I wrap my arms around her front side to pull myself further into her with each thrust. “James!” she shrieks. I hold her around her waist with one hand and play with her breasts with the other. She drops down further, lifting her backside up higher towards me with her forearms on the bed.

We both enjoy pushing our bodies to the breaking point. It’s the athletes in us that makes this all the more fun. She moves with me, and I swear she is going to break my pelvis from the fierce movements. She stretches out her arms and lifts one of her legs, and in one swift movement, she flips over with me still inside her –creating a tingling sensation I have not felt before. The human body is not meant to move like that, but she manages. I’m on top of her nose, staring down at her. A part of me wonders if she is staring at my bare ass in the mirror above us the way I had been doing with her. She wraps her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist, forcing me down on top of her.

She is so wet we might as well be doing this in the hot tub –which we have done before, but this is just as sexy. I press my mouth against her, stifling both of our groans. She is in a kinkier mood than usual; she wants it bad. It like we’re still fighting even when we’re having sex; the intense aggression makes me think she is pissed off about something and is taking it out on my body. Not that I mind. I like it when Éclair gets feisty. She puts her tongue in my mouth; I swear, it’s like she’s trying to choke me with it. Something is definitely up with her tonight.

Our lips part, and I am able to raise my head up just enough to see her face. Her eyes are shut tight, and she is gritting her teeth. Her long, blonde hair is spread out in all directions. Her adorable button nose that I often make fun of (but secretly find attractive), is scrunched up. I can see her abs flex with each of my movements as she experiences a long-winded orgasm. I lean down and bite her neck –harder than I intended, but I know she loves it when she’s in one of these wild moods. I move up her neck towards her ear, and I whisper with a warm breath that makes her shutter, “Come on, Éclair, let me hear you…” I know she is holding back a scream; she does not like to give me a big head, but I can see it in her face as her cheeks turn red from holding her breath.

“Oh God!” her cry is loud and high pitched, and it only turns me even more. “Oh God! Oh God!” she’s really going now. Her screams grow louder as do her groans. “James! Oh, God, James!” Her body twitches as though she had just been electrocuted and shock waves are rushing through her veins. She opens her eyes for just a second, and I can see those weird as hell purple eyes of hers. She has something called Alexandra Genesis –it’s some freaky genetic thing that makes her eyes that awesome shade, and it also prevents her from growing any hair downstairs. I’m not complaining; I prefer a clean shaved woman. I love those purple eyes, though. She’s still groaning; she shuts her eyes again and bites her bottom lip.

I explode inside of her which normally gets her pretty pissed off, but she’s so damn horny today I don’t think she minds. To prevent her from giving me hell about it, I help her keep her erotic high by stimulating her with my still hard cock and, once the big guy starts to calm down; I continue rubbing her with my fingers until she seems almost dead from the intense pleasure. She falls asleep which is against the rules –our unusual set of rules we have to keep things from getting too serious. I don’t mind, though. I throw a sheet over us both, and she, in a sleepy daze, lays her head on my chest.

  Chapter Two

I slowly blink my eyes open. That was one hell of a night. Nights with Éclair are always crazy like that, though, although last night had certainly been exceptional. I roll over, my eyes squinted as I search for her amongst she sheets. She’s not in bed, and I frown. I had thought I would actually wake up next to her for once, but clearly I was wrong. She probably left in the middle of the night. I am still wearing a dissatisfied frown as I sit up slowly. “Don’t look so disappointed.” I hear Éclair’s voice as she enters my bedroom. She’s wearing my white button up, and I don’t think she’s wearing much else. She is a damn tease sometimes.

She has two cups of coffee, “I hope you don’t mind, but I helped myself to your kitchen this morning.” She hands me a cup.

“Thanks,” I say and take a sip. I grimace slightly; it’s that nasty coffee I keep in my apartment for her that I only pretend to enjoy. I place the coffee cup down on my nightstand, and she does the same with hers. She sits down on the side of my bed and props a leg up, and I see that she definitely is not wearing any underwear. I cannot help myself.

I reach towards her to touch her inner thigh, but she puts her leg down and waves a finger in my face. “Not now, James.”

She really is a tease. “Awe, sweetheart, you are playing with me.” I say, “And you and I both know you’d be more than happy to have at it again.”

Éclair laughs at me. “You wish.”

I reach for her quicker this time, and I manage to grab her shoulders and playfully force her down on her back as I scurry out from under the blankets. I get on top of her, her legs hanging off the side of the bed. My cock is rested on her stomach. “You certainly sounded like you were having fun last night,” I say and lean down to kiss her neck.

“Darling, I have business to attend to.” She says and touches my chest with the tips of her fingers. “As do you, I am sure.”

“It can wait,” I say and rush to unbutton the top she threw on. No bra either. Fantastic. I cup one of her breasts in my hand and play with her nipple with my tongue.

“I want to talk to you about my business offer.” She says, and my erection disappears faster than if she had told me to visualize my own grandmother.

“Ugh.” I grumble and roll off of her, “Why do you always do that?” I lay on my back, staring up at the ceiling.

She laughs and sits up, my
white button up still draped on her shoulders. “Your company is only doing well in the states. It’s not worth as much as you think. I am willing to purchase it for-”

“No.” I snap. “I told you, I’m not selling. And we’re doing just fine, thanks. Our sales have you beat in the states anyways.”

“You’re thinking too small.” Éclair says and then suddenly throws herself on top of me, “How much? You tell me what you would sell it for.”

“It’s not for sale.” I say again, “And we’re done here. Get off me.”

Éclair huffs and jumps off of me. She stands, “I’m not so easily ignored, James. You know this, don’t you?”

“Believe me, I know. You’ve been barking up that tree ever since we first met.” I stand and locate my underwear and pants. I’m not going to walk around completely naked while she talks numbers and stocks. “You’re relentless. You’re not buying me out, Éclair.”

“Of course, I am.” Éclair says, “One day, you will see the light, but in the meantime, I have made pancakes.”

  “No, you didn’t,” I say.

“I am more than just a pretty face,” Éclair says and trots into the kitchen, and I follow.

She really did make pancakes… from scratch… and they’re blueberry. “Damn.” I say, “I guess you really did enjoy yourself last night if I’m getting pancakes.”

“Last night was… fun.” She says.

  “I knew it.”

“Don’t push it, darling.” She makes herself a plate, and she dips her finger into some syrup and reaches towards me, placing her finger on my tongue. I suck on her finger, and she slowly pulls her finger out of my mouth. My erection is back. “What do you think?” she asks. “I made the syrup myself.”

“Seriously?” I ask, licking my lips, really enjoying the blueberry taste that is in the syrup as well as the pancakes. I make myself a plate also. “Who knew you could cook?”
