Dragonflies The Duncan Peters Files

Rubin was receiving lots of female attention as always. He was known in these circles for his attention and care to the ladies, he was a man who was quite in demand. For obvious reasons as to his large appendage, but also because of the wee little tricks he had learned along the way. A night with Rubin was promised to be more than satisfactory.
It became a game between them, of clocking up the number of room invites they received. If he had been on his own, he would have been bedroom hopping by now. He knew they were missing out on the depraved goings on that most of the bedrooms had. Upstairs one could feel free to explore the consensual going’s on. He liked these gigs, plenty of naughty shenanigans to be had. Normally he would leave at some point the next day, tonight though, he had a feeling, and that they wouldn’t be making it up to the rooms. Jess was spoiling for a fight. She had stopped dancing provocatively against him, and was now only moving slightly swaying from side to side, barely moving, which was more apparent with every invite he received.
“What’s wrong with you?” Rubin asked, leaning into her. “Why are we here? I thought you were cool with this?” He asked discreetly, while handing her another glass of champagne he had swiped off one of the costumed waiters trays held at elbow height, dressed also in seventeenth century garb.
“I am. I just don’t see anything here that takes my fancy that’s all?” She said nonchalantly while sipping on the slender glass.
“What do you mean ‘anything that takes your fancy’? They’re wearing fucking mask’s Jess?”
She was definitely cock blocking him; he knew it from the time the first couple that had approached them, and she had refused them. She had ample enough tits for him he thought, just an excuse from her.
“As I said, there is nothing here that takes my fancy,” and she shrugged
He looked at her, he felt annoyed that she had wasted their time here.
“Jess, if you didn’t want to come, then why did we? Do you want to go home?” He asked trying to keep his cool.
“Whatever,” she shrugged again.
He knew it was pointless to carry on with the conversation. No point in making a scene.
“Shall we go?” he asked her. “If you don’t want to be here Jess, then let’s go. We are only here as you said it would be fun to attend one of these. If you weren’t cool with it, we shouldn’t have come.”
“You shouldn’t have brought us here, house parties are one thing but here,” and she looked around at the parties going’s on. “I can only imagine what’s going on upstairs.”
Rubin stared at her blankly for a few moments.
“Come on,” he grabbed her arm and led her out towards the entrance in the grand hall… “Let’s go home. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have brought you here.”
She must have been pleasantly proud of herself, having Rubin leave a party with goings on, and for him to have not touched a bite.

They sat there in the car, in silence on the long drive back from Surrey to Shepherds Bush. It was only when they were five minutes from home that Jess started to speak.
“Are you angry with me Rubes?” she caressed his thigh with her fingertips. “Don’t be angry with me.” She looked up and fluttered her eyelashes at him.
“No, no Jess I’m not, It’s just I’m in a tuxedo, and I haven’t been laid yet. Man always has to get laid when he’s in a tux, it’s just not right” he laughed as her hand went to his crotch and started to gently stroke his length through the black fabric.
She knew how to wrap him around her finger; she stroked the fabric, teasing his rod, watching him shift in his seat, as it thickened to her every touch. He looked at her, her eyes narrowing, as her palm smoothed across his throbbing cock, constrained in its garments. Jess found his zipper, and slowly pulled it down, devilment in her eyes, as her fingers slid into the trousers. He raised his eyebrows knowing full well what was about to happen as she released his cock through the zipper into the open air. She smiled at him as she leaned over; he lifted his left arm that was still holding the steering wheel, to accommodate her into his awaiting lap. Shepherds Bush never looked so good, with Jessica’s mouth, bobbing up and down on his huge shaft. He could feel her tongue encircling his tip, as she lunged her mouth down on him again and again.
He had to fight the compulsion he had not to take his hands off the wheel and place them on her energetically bobbing head. Her mouth was working its magic, as she licked and sucked, taking him into the depths of her throat, driving hard down on him. There were a few times, he had involuntary closed his eyes, thus resulting in a few swerves, which didn’t seem to throw Jessica off her game in any shape or fashion. In fact they seemed to drive her on harder, as the deep plunging, which she knew he liked increased, it was only when he drew up outside his house, that she got the better of him. He was trying to hold out till he was indoors. But no, as he drew up to his parking spot, she sucked down hard on him, while groaning some “Mmmm’s and Ahhhh’s.” He could only blame the position he was sitting in, and the vibrations of her inner throat, that squeezed hard on his throbbing shaft, that caused him to cum. He breathed hard, as she leaned back up with a smile.
“So, am I forgiven?” She asked coyly.
He could only smile at her as he looked at his lap, his cock, still erect, waiting to be placed back into the confines of his trousers which he did.
“Nothing to forgive, next time I won’t bring you, if it upsets you that much.” He laughed.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jess’s hand move towards his face. His reflexes, which were that of a ninja, caught her wrist, stopping her in her tracks.
“Hey” he looked at her puzzled, still holding her arm. “Now that’s un-lady like.” He left her arm go.
“FUCK YOU RUBIN MILLER,” she screamed, as got out of the car, nearly taking the door of its hinge, and then marching towards the front door.
Rubin was left with no choice but to park up the car. He got out and walked towards the house, knowing full well, he was going into battle.
He walked into the house, closing the door behind him. He could hear her ranting and raving, and it was coming from upstairs. He slowly approached the stairs and started to climb them, hearing her ranting clearer, with every step he made. When he got to the top he could see, she was in their room. And he could clearly hear ripping. He knew damn well what was going on behind door number one. And for ten points, he would go with the answer of; ‘Biological clock ticking, bunny boiler girlfriend going nuts’. He pushed the doors opened, and there was his ten point answer.
Jessica was knelt, in the middle of the floor with a pile of clothes, which she was shredding with a knife that she had no doubt obtained from the kitchen. She was also muttering;
“Next time I won’t bring you.” Over and over again, like a processed woman, chanting and her vocals ranging in different octaves as she got angrier and angrier by the second.
It really wasn’t a good look for her. She picked up one of his favourite suits jackets and started shredding it from the bottom split to the shoulder blades. He realised what she was doing. It was obviously his clothes she was shredding. He moved briskly towards her. Seconds later he had the knife. She stared at him in disbelief at her empty hands, now without the knife.
“How, how did you do that?” she stared at her hands, clearly shocked at his swiftness in disarming her, she hadn’t felt a thing.
Rubin walked the length of the room, and back, up and down, as he spun the blade in his hand like something from one of those martial arts films. She could only watch as he paced the floor.
“What the fuck Jess? My suits, my clothes, what the fuck Jess? I thought you were cool with everything. It’s not your first rodeo.” He shook his head. “Why didn’t you just say you didn’t want to go? Why go through all of this?”
“All of what?” she shouted. “All of what?” she rose up from her knees. “All of what Rubin?” She looked at him, the hurt very evident in her face. Jess took a
moment before she spoke again sounding calmer. “Am I not enough for you?” She pleaded.
“Of course you’re enough. You’re here, your living here aren’t you?” He exclaimed.
“Then why do you still want to go to the parties?” she pleaded. “I should be enough for you.” She had walked towards him, her hands hitting his sturdy chest. “Why won’t you say you love me? Why?” she cried, while still feebly hitting his chest.
Rubin put his arms around her, as she sobbed. This was why he didn’t do relationships.
“Jess,” he stroked her head, “you know how I feel about you.” He looked down into her eyes, as he lifted her chin as she nodded yes. “Jess, my wee Jess, I’m not like Duncan, I told you this when I first met you. I’ve never lied to you. I know you want marriage, kids, the works, but that’s not me. I’ve told you this all along, I’m not the marrying kind, and as for kids. We’ve talked about this.”
“I’m sorry Rubin, I want more. I’ve had to watch my kid sister not only get married, but also I have to watch her having babies with the man she loves. I want that too. I thought you would change, I thought you would over the years.”
“And have I?” asked a bemused Rubin.
“No, no you haven’t. Tonight just proved that,” she snapped back at him. “You still want to fuck other women?” She stood there, defeated at her statement.
He stood there staring at her. He could see the pain etched in her face. He liked her, he liked her lots. Yes sure she made his heart bang, but he couldn’t bring himself to utter those three little words, that she so desperately wanted to hear.
“I’ve never lied to you Jess, I’ve always been upfront. This is me. This is all I can offer you.” He thumped at his chest with his thumb.
“It’s not good enough Rube’s,” she looked at him choked with the tears that were spilling from her eyes. “I want it all, marriage, kids, the works. I deserve it!” She looked at him defiantly.
“Yes, yes you do Jess,” he looked at her. “So what do we do now?”
“I have to go,” she started to move towards the wardrobe and pulled out her two cases, shoving her clothes in them. “I’m sorry Rubes, I’m twenty-eight, and I’m not getting any younger. I have to make sure I’m taken care of.” She looked up at him, “It’s not as if you’re going to put a ring on my finger. I want commitment. But Rubin Miller doesn’t do commitment does he?” She said sarcastically as she finished stuffing the cases.
“Hey, now that’s not fair, you’ve been living with me here, for how long?” He asked.
“Long enough Rubin for you not to want to fuck any other women,” she stared defiantly at him.
He couldn’t argue the point, seeing as she did have one. He sighed to himself, trying to think of something to say. But he couldn’t. The quick witted Rubin Miller, aka ‘The fucking legend’ had nothing to say. He could only stand there, as he watched her pack the last of her things into the two cases, and close them shut. She grabbed the handles of the cases and held her head high as she walked out the door, and down the stairs. It wasn’t until he heard the front door slam shut, causing the glass on the door to make a noise as it vibrated in its frame, then he sat down on the bed, as he stared at the knife, and the pile of clothes she had impressively got through in record time. He didn’t think he took that long to park the car up, mind you he was underestimating the talents of a very pissed off and vengeful time bomb in the shape of a woman. It was a shame as it was possibly the best head he had received whilst driving.
Duncan had called him that night to let him know he had a new house guest, in the shape of Jessica. She called a few days later from overseas; to see if the effects of her actions had bore any merit to her cause. Unfortunately they hadn’t to him, it was like she was away for work and he was quite used to it, busying himself as he did, it didn’t help that he had got that message on his answering machine either.
Jessica called round to his house a month later. She had something important she wanted to tell him, it was her final ultimatum. They sat down, each on one of the two Chesterfield couches in the living room. He could see she was trying to be calmer this time around than the night she had frantically cut through nearly his entire suit collection armed only with a kitchen knife. Mind you it was one of his knives, which were always sharpened to Samurai standards.
“Rubes, I’ve met someone.” He raised his eyebrows, clearly seeing the tactic’s she was resorting to. “Things are going good,” she smoothed the imaginary wrinkles out of her skirt with her palms. “Things are getting rather serious,” she looked over at him.
“What do you want me to say Jess?” he looked at her, “Oh Jessica, please don’t run away with the other man? Shit Jess,” he shook his head disappointed. “Emotional blackmail?” He shook his head again, like a parent having scolded a child. “Seriously, Jess this is beneath you,” he couldn’t help but shake his head. He was devastated she had resorted to these underhand tactics. “It’s one thing to shred a man’s wardrobe, which I can understand, but you saying this? Here and now, no Jess, you’ve surprised me, you’re not the girl I thought you were.” He stood up, “Jess, I’m sorry, but I can’t give you what you want. I’ve never lied to you, or cheated on you.” Jessica stood up and went to speak; he raised his finger in the air. “Now Jess, I’m all I have, you have what you have of me, it’s all I’ve got. I’m not going to drop down on one knee and beg you to come back. And you using another man, thinking it will make me jealous? And another thing Jessica you should already know about me. I’m not going to have a gun held to my head, if you truly knew me; you would know. I’ll pull that trigger. You know that!” He exclaimed harshly. He changed his tone, making it softer. “It’s in my nature. I am what I am Jess. You do what you have to do.” His arms flayed wildly as he spoke.
He stood there as he watched her pick up her jacket and bag, and walk to the door, she stopped and turned.
“Rube’s, it’s your last chance to stop me,” she stood, her hand on the frame of the door.
He didn’t turn round, and see the tears fall from her eyes, as she walked into the hallway, and closed the front door behind her, leaving Rubin standing there, shoving his hands into his jeans pocket, alone in the living room…
That was a month before that dreadful day, and he felt awful hearing her excited voice at the other end of the phone, knowing he would shatter her to pieces with the horrific news he had to tell her about her niece.
Seeing her at the funeral just made the tragic event more woeful. Of course he wanted to comfort her, but seeing the man she was with, tending to her needs, he knew better to leave well alone. Neither she nor Rubin could look at each other, and were often seen leaving the room if either came in. It was a very uncomfortable situation indeed, added to an already traumatic one for all.
12.
Dear Darlin..
Rubin could only watch, as Duncan and Simone’s lives fell apart. He was there for both of them in every way he could be. He had a key to their house of course, just like they both had keys for his place. Simone would look in on his, while Duncan and he were stationed at the barracks.
He could do nothing, but watch helplessly from the side-lines. He would let himself in and find Simone sat always at the kitchen table. She would be staring at the highchair blankly. It broke his heart each time, and it was more times than he would care to think of. He sat down at the table next to her. She didn’t even notice he was there, even when he would place his hand on hers, which lay limply on the table. Nothing, she was still so numb. He tried to reach out to her. It was pure torture to watch. He tried to make some subtle suggestions, especially Isabella’s things possibly being moved to her room. He knew it was too much to expect them to vanquish every trace of their beautiful princess. It was agony for him to see them, what must it be like for them?
“Simone, hun, this isn’t good for you,” he would rub her shoulder as he spoke, watching her move slightly to the rhythm of his hand. “Sweetheart, can you he
ar me?”
Nothing! He moved down onto his knees, just in front of her, pleading with her to hear him, nothing. It was pitiful, until she suddenly looked at him, the hot heavy tears popping out of her eyes, and rolling down her pale checks till they landed with a splat on the tiled floor.
“He won’t let me Rubin,” she sat there void of any emotion, except for her tears, her voice a bare whisper, almost robotic in its tone. “Every day I have it pushed in my face, that we had a dear sweet, beautiful little girl. She was taken from us, from me.” She blinked as her eyes fixated on the empty highchair. “I ache for her Rubes, I ache so much, it hurts,” she leaned forward onto his shoulder as she sobbed. “It hurts so much Rubin and the pain won’t go away. I’m empty without her Rubes, I just want her back.”
All Rubin could do was to hold her in his arms as she sobbed and sobbed. He couldn’t think of anything to say. What could he say that would make it all better? Nothing, not a thing he could say or do. How fucking cruel was that? His heart was heavy, it was of course due to the circumstances, here in this house, and the atmosphere was of immense grief. It hit you when you walked into this once, happy home.
He was worried for his friends, very worried, and he had every right to be, as he would be powerless to stop the Armageddon that was going to happen. He held Simone till she was weak with the tears. She had cried for nearly a whole hour. Which made him wonder where the hell Duncan was? Duncan’s arms should be around his wife, comforting her, she needed him. He knew he would probably regret it, but he had to ask.
“Sim, where’s Dunc?” He asked when she had almost ceased with the hip -cuppy sobs that were now emerging from her heaving shoulders.
“Where do you think?” came the muffled sob.
“Ohh no, Simone.” He could only hold her closer into him as she resumed the crying again, “Shhhhh,” as he rubbed her back gently.
It was excruciating, he could feel the pain emitting from her like radiation, and it engulfed him. He knew exactly where Duncan was. He closed his eyes as he tried to comfort her, rocking her gently from side to side while Shhhhh ing her.
