“Touch yourself,” Lance ordered.

He reached for his prick and started to stroke.

“I’ll come soon,” he told his mate.

  “Me too.”

Lance kept aiming for his prostate, making him cry out. His vision blurred, all that mattered was their bodies, entwined, their wolves becoming one. Lance’s last push shoved him over the edge of oblivion. The pressure in him shattered. Joey came, screaming out Lance’s name as he spurted jets of his cum into his hands.

The Beta came a few moments later, growling out his triumph and filing his ass with warmth. They collapsed on the bed. Contentment filled him as he snuggled close to his mate. Lance pulled him close and wrapped his steel-banded arms around him, breathing in his scent.

He let out a happy moan, pressing himself up against his mate. It didn’t escape Joey that Lance seemed to make sure that he wasn’t leaning on his recently inked shoulder. Fussy mate. Then again Lance was right, Joey did enjoy doing the fussing when Lance had been shot.

“Keep doing that and I’m going to start nailing you again, little wolf,” Lance warned.

“Is that supposed to be a threat? Because I’m sure looking forward to it.”

“You’re such a treasure, little wolf.” Lance kissed the nape of his neck.

“Please. I’m the lucky one. Look who I managed to score for a mate, the Beta of the Devils Hills pack.”

  Lance laughed, hugged him tighter.

“Are you worried about what’s going to happen in the future?” he had to ask, because Lance stayed up late more often. The Beta might look composed and calm when talking to other packmates, but only at home could Lance be himself. Joey wanted his mate to know that Lance could let his guard down around him, show his fears.

“A little,” Lance admitted. “For the longest time, the pack kept to its borders, refusing to interfere in affairs that didn’t concern us. It told the Humans Matter government that if they stayed out of our way, we’d do the same, but that’s not the case anymore.”

He twisted in Lance’s arm to meet his mate’s gaze. “Is it because of Freida and me?”

Lance shook his head. “No, it started way before, when Daryl and Dave drove to our borders, seeking sanctuary. Then the Squad had the guts to enter our lands without permission because they wanted to hunt down Zack, using a rehabilitated Esper’s illusion abilities. They thought we’d never find out.”

Joey thought about the patrols he and his team were doing and said, “Sabine’s been constantly reminding us to keep an open eye during patrols.”

Lance blew out a breath. “Sometimes, I worry for you. Recon work is getting dangerous, especially when the pack just made official enemies of the humans when we killed those Squad members.”

“Hey, I can take care of myself. The pack watches out for each other.”

“I know.” Lance kissed his lips, slowly, sweetly, taking his time. “I’m more confident of facing whatever fate throws at us next.”

  “That so?” he asked.

Lance grinned, then deviously reached down to squeeze his prick. “Because I have my mate with me. You’re my secret weapon.”

Damn, but his mate could be cheesy sometimes, but he didn’t mind. Joey liked it when they joked around like this. “And you’re mine,” he finished, laughing as Lance began to tickle him.
