Rafe was asking Chloe to go have a drink with him and before her friend could make up some excuse, Nikki jumped in.
“She’s all yours handsome,” Nikki said. Her bestie was giving her the crazy wide eyes, but Nikki chose to ignore it.
Rafe grabbed Chloe’s hand and dragged her to the back of the bar.
“One down, two to go!” Nikki said to Izzy.
“Oh sure, I’m going to hook up with half the department tonight,” Izzy said with a hiccup.
Looked like Izzy was feeling the pre-drinks, the rounds at the bar, and the beer she was currently nursing.
“Izzy my girl, anything is possible. We have the whole night ahead of us and I plan on enjoying the view,” Izzy said with a slug of her beer.
The current dancer was struggling to get out of the paramedic outfit he was wearing. The process was uncomfortable and even the drunk twig bitches in the front row had stopped screaming.
“Where is the giant hook when you need it?” Nikki murmured.
“I know, I think he is having a fit or something. Maybe one of the other paramedics should check on him,” Izzy said in horror.
“Alright, everyone, let’s give it up for Bob!” the announcer came on trying to help the poor man along. “One more time for, Bob!”
The embarrassed and awkward man, finally managed to wobble off the stage, one leg still stuck in his pants.
“Alright everyone, I have a 3-alarm stud coming up!” the MC rang out. “Next up we have Chase, Chase has been with District 17 for 3 years, and loves to hang out with his dog Max and spend time with his daughter Penny. But don’t worry ladies; he is single and ready to mingle!” A chorus of groans followed that announcement. Yeesh, this guy was the worst, Nikki thought.
A pounding techno song came on and the lights flashed up to a tall dark haired man wearing nothing but a pair of camo pants. He looked like he had some Italian somewhere in his family tree. He was built, strong broad shoulders, beautiful sculpted chest which came down to a tight narrow waist. He had those V shaped muscles, that made girls do stupid things, arrowing straight into his pants.
“No way is he real,” Nikki whispered. Apparently Izzy heard her anyway. “I don’t think he’s real, we must be hallucinating.”
“I think that one might actually be real Izzy my girl,” Nikki said.
Her eyes never leaving the man gyrating his hips to the front row. He did a turn and dropped to the stage and started doing push-up to the screams of the ladies in the audience. Then because that move didn’t have every ovary in the joint popping an egg, he started to do one arm push-ups.
“I think I just came,” Nikki said.
Izzy spit out the drink of beer she had just swigged, “Damn it Nikki, you can’t just say things like that!” Izzy squealed.
“I’m not joking Izzy, that man is amazing,” Nikki said, wiping the imaginary drool off her chin.
“You are too much Nikki,” Izzy said cleaning up the beer she sprayed on the table.
The crowd in the bar was reaching epic noise levels for Chase, as he continued to thrust and hump the air. He didn’t even bother taking his pants off, he didn’t need to. His sexuality was drenching the audience and damn, if Nikki wasn’t soaking her own panties watching him.
The song was wrapping up and the MC came on to get the crowd to give another round of applause. Chase was making his bows and waving at the crowd. Instead of exiting the stage the way he came on, he jumped off the edge of stage and immediately the ladies closest reached out to pet his bare upper body. Chase just smiled and kept moving, moving straight towards Nikki.
“This is not happening again,” Nikki said in awe.
“Apparently it is,” a sad sounding Izzy muttered and took a swig of her bottle.
Chase made his way to their table with eyes only for Nikki. She swiveled in her chair so she was facing the man that was all smooth planes of muscle. Look at his eyes, not his chest she chanted to herself.
Chase made his way to their table, stopping directly in front of Nikki. His eyes swept her from head to toe and back up again, stopping at her waist. His eyes flicked up to hers and smiled. One of those big full teeth smiles that spoke of a confidence that men, who were rarely denied, had mastered.
“Hi I’m Chase,” he said.
“Hi Chase, I’m Nikki and this is my friend Izzy.”
Chase shook her hand then turned and smiled and shook a star struck Izzy’s hand. “Nice to meet you both,” he said in return, “Mind if I join you?”
“Have a seat if you want,” Nikki said with a little bit of a snip to her voice.
Nikki was immediately on the defensive. Who was this guy, thinking he could strut his ridiculously hot, lickable body up to their table, acting all casual like he really wanted to hang out with them.
There had been too many years of asshats judging her appearance and therefore making assumptions about her. This guy must be one of those types, nobody that looked that good could be decent. Conceited always followed muscles.
“Looking for a free drink?” Nikki snarked.
“Actually I was hoping to have a bit of a chat with you sweets,” Chase said leaning forward, bringing his face close to Nikki’s.
“Don’t call me sweets,” Nikki responded.
“Ok, what can I call you then beautiful?” Chase asked.
Nikki couldn’t help herself, she smiled when he said beautiful. She was a woman after all, and when a Hottie McHottie-son called you beautiful, it turned even the most hardened women into a giggling schoolgirl.
“Beautiful is a start,” Nikki said caving in.
“Sorry, I don’t mean to tease you, but you’re adorable,” Chase said smiling.
“That’s ok Sparky, I don’t mind being teased. I can take it as long as you can,” she smiled back.
“Sparky?” Chase scoffed.
“Yup Sparky, I think that’s a fitting name for a firefighter,” Nikki said with a wink.
“Alright, alright, I can handle Sparky. I’m confident enough in my masculinity to take on a nickname like that,” Chase said puffing up his chest.
“A nickname like that?”
“Yup, definitely a goofy nickname. Sparky is the nickname of the kid that got beat up in high school,” he said.
“Was that kid you?” Nikki asked. She doubted it, but asking the question was way too tempting.
“No, not me, I was the defender of the nerds. I played football but really like math, so my friend pool was pretty diverse,” Chase answered. “I was the kid that bridged the social gaps so to speak.”
“Ahh, defender of the lowly,” she said dropping her eyes to her drink. She knew what it was like to be the one picked on. She was pretty confident in school but that didn’t stop the haters from trying to break her.
“Nope, just don’t think anyone should be bullied. There is too much variety in this world for people to find fault in everyone that isn’t just like them. Some might say that my likes and dislikes aren’t acceptable. I don’t really give a crap what anyone thinks. I’m happy in my life and like to surround myself with like minded people,” Chase declared.
“You sound like Saint Chase. Are you rescuing me from an evening sitting alone with my buddy Izzy here and drinking way too much then stumbling home alone?” asked Nikki.
She really hoped he wouldn’t agree. That would put a permanent damper on her evening. Her ego was preening at the current attention she was receiving from this stud muffin. But one wrong word from him would most assuredly end her evening with a tub of chunky monkey ice cream and a bad rom-com flick while sitting in her flannel PJ’s with the pictures of bacon and eggs on them.
“No, you don’t need rescuing beautiful. You need cosseting,” he replied low.
“Cosseting? Seriously? Is that a real thing?” she asked incredulously.
“Oh yes, I can tell you are the type of woman that needs to be pampered and petted. You thrive on attention, but not in a bad way. Only positive, true attention does it
for you. Honesty is crucial for you and you won’t give your trust to just anyone,” he said looking straight into her eyes.
“You can tell that about me huh?” Nikki said. Was this guy for real?
“Yup, I also can tell that you care about your appearance. You like to dress up, you like to look good, and you like the attention that looking good gets you. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I’d be lying if I said I was attracted to your personality from across the room,” Chase admitted
“No? My shining demeanor didn’t draw you in?” she teased.
“Nope, your smoking hot ass and your tiny little waist did. I saw an hourglass from across the room and knew I had to meet you,” he said with no shame.
Wow, that was honest she thought. Most guys didn’t tell her right off that they liked her shape. She figured they were ass men since they tended to gravitate towards that part of her anatomy. But hourglass? She guessed busty with a booty would equal that.
“Hourglass? That your thing?” she asked.
“Oh beautiful you have no idea how perfectly you are shaped. I bet I could wrap my hands around your waist and my fingers would touch,” he said wistfully staring at her waist.
What was with this guy and her waist? She’d met some freaks in her time, but this guy was a new species for her.
“I doubt that would work. I’m still a big girl and although those are some massive paws you’re sporting, I doubt you would physically be able to circle my waist,” she scoffed.
“Oh I bet we could cinch you down so far I could manage,” he said huskily.
“Cinch? Excuse me?” Nikki squeaked. What did he mean by that? Was he into leather straps and bondage stuff? Cause hell no was anyone tying her ass down. Uh uh, that shit does not fly for her. If that works for some people, goody for them, but no one takes away her ability to get the hell out of a situation she doesn’t like.
“You would look stunning in a corset. Do you like wearing them?” Chase asked leaning in closer to her.
“Can’t say I have an honest opinion about them one way or another. I think the only time I’ve worn one was a few years ago at Halloween. I was a slutty barmaid,” Nikki said laughing. “I remember it didn’t fit well and almost had me suffocating on account of my breasts being stuffed up under my chin.”
Chase broke out in a hearty laugh, throwing his head back. “I can just imagine that,” he said still chuckling.
“Oh I bet you can,” Nikki smirked. “So do you just pick up random chicks in bars and take them to your hidden dungeon and dress them up like German beer maids?”
“No, nothing like that. I’m more of a collector actually. I collect medieval apparel. I volunteer with the local high school during the renaissance fair every year. I’ve been mentoring them on swordplay, jousting, and such. Their teacher was one of my favorites in high school and I’ve kept in touch. But when I come across a particularly stunning corset, I can’t help but pick it up and hope someday to have the perfect partner to make use of my collection,” he said with a hint of rumble to his voice.
Nikki’s lady bits were starting to tingle. Her mind was jumping to an image of this hot man running his big hands around her body, lashing her into a corset he picked out. Wow, that wasn’t a bad daydream. She was also pushing back the slight hint of panic at his mention of his collection. Too many bad horror movies with the girls to not think of creepers and psychopaths. This man didn’t seem the serial killer type, not that there was a type. But Nikki usually trusted her instincts and they were telling her she could trust Chase.
“Well are you saying you have big plans for tonight?”she asked.
“That all depends on you beautiful. Did you have plans this evening? Somewhere else you need to be?” Chase inquired.
She really didn’t have any plans but wasn’t sure if she should pretend to make her life look a little less pathetic. That whole idea of a guy wanting something that he thinks he can’t have.
“I was just planning on hanging out with my friends tonight. Although, my friend Chloe has already abandoned us for one of your hot brethren. I have a feeling we won’t see each other later,” Nikki scoffed.
“Who is she talking to?” Chase asked concerned.
“That guy Rafe, I think his name was,” she replied.
“Oh, she’s all good then. Rafe is a great guy and will take good care of her,” Chase assured.
“Should I be taking your word for it then? A stranger I just met at a bar that took off his clothes and shook his junk for a bunch of screaming Barbie dolls?” Nikki mocked.
“First, I’m not a stranger, you know my name and where I work. Second, I took my clothes off for charity, there is only one better reason to get naked and third, Barbie dolls are not my thing,” Chase said grinning.
“Really? Not the plastic vapid doll type?” Nikki asked. She really hoped he wasn’t into those girls. Not that they didn’t deserve hot men in their lives too, she just wanted this hot man for herself.
“Nope, I need a real woman thanks. Can’t take those airhead types. I like a little fire in my ladies and a whole lot of booty for the bouncing,” Chase obviously said, attempting to rile her up.
“What the hell!? Did you just say booty for bouncing? Who says that? Who says that to someone they just met? Dude, you are straight up too much punch for me,” Nikki declared shaking her head at the audacity of this stud muffin.
“Oh I bet you can handle it though. I won’t play you; I’m being straight up. I like you, I’d love to take you home and spend the evening worshiping every sexy inch of your body,” he said with a wink. “Beautiful, I will treat you right and make sure you get home safe and sound whenever you want.”
At this point Izzy, who had been sitting watching the play by play this whole time, finally spoke up.
“It’s ok if you want to go Nikki, I’ll just head home when you leave,” Izzy whispered.
Nikki looked over at Izzy with a frustrated sigh, “I’m not leaving you Izzy, even for Mr. January here.”
“Hey I’m shooting for June, thank you very much, I’m that hot,” Chase said winking at Izzy.
“Really guys, I can head home anytime. I do know how to catch a cab you know,” Izzy tried to reassure them.
At that moment, Chloe who had been chatting up Rafe behind the bar area came up to tell them she was leaving with Rafe. Nikki could see her friend was excited to extend her evening with Rafe and also looking for approval from her girlfriends. She could see the way Rafe was watching Chloe that this man was totally into her and couldn’t keep his eyes off of her.
Nikki gave her complete approval to Chloe, who looked more than a little shocked at her quick thumbs-up in regards to the man she’d just met, but Rafe was good. Chase seemed to approve and for some reason Nikki felt she could trust Chase. Still she took a picture of Rafe’s ID with her cell phone just in case, but she really wasn’t worried.
“Have a good time sweetie, we will be fine here,” Nikki told her giving her a wink.
Looking a little shocked, Chloe was tugged away by Rafe who also gave Nikki a wink as he exited with Chloe.
“So it looks like your friend Chloe is settled for the evening. Are you going to make my dreams come true and give me the pleasure of your company for the evening?” Chase said to her leaning into her ear to whisper huskily. Damn men who knew that trick, that hot tickle of air across a woman’s neck turned smart girls to mush.
“I’m not leaving Izzy,” Nikki hissed back.
“So you aren’t saying no. Just that you have friendship obligations?” Chase smiled wickedly.
“Grrr…” was all Nikki could reply.
“Well, I have it on the strictest confidence that your friend Izzy might not be leaving alone tonight,” Chase whispered quietly into her ear.
Nikki looked at him questioningly. What was this, some kind of conspiracy to pick up all the BBW’s tonight? Maybe these firefighters had some kind of bet going. A chubby check-off list or somethi
ng as equally horrible. That would certainly ruin her evening if that was true. No one messed with her friends, unless of course they wanted to be separated from their manhood in a violent manner.
“What, did you guys set up some kind of bet to ask out the fluffy girls tonight?” Nikki asked angrily.
“What? Are you fucking kidding me?” Chase shot back.
Chapter 3
Clearly Nikki said the wrong thing because he was seriously pissed off. His face had turned red and his eyes were flashing.
“Well what am I supposed to think? I don’t see any other guys jumping off the stage and carrying off the model wannabe’s for a night on the town. And I don’t care about myself, but if your buddies hurt my friends, so help me, I will hunt you down one by one and you will all be singing soprano,” Nikki said trying to sound tough, but inside she had the sinking feeling she just falsely accused the very sexy, very nice man that was, or at least before she opened her big mouth, interested in her.
“I’ll let you off with a warning this time Nikki, first off I don’t make bets when it comes to women. Only a jackass would do something like that. Second I wouldn’t let your friend go off with Rafe if I wasn’t 100% sure he would treat her right. Nor would I give you the head’s up that another one of my brothers has already scoped out your friend Izzy and is practically drooling backstage waiting to talk to her. Third, since you clearly have been hurt in the past and don’t have a lot of trust in men, I will explain myself to you this time.
I came to talk to you because as I have said, those twig bitches as you call them do nothing for me. Apparently, I like smart mouthed, insulting goddesses that will obviously need tons of convincing that she is sexy and worth the attention of any man. So if you don’t mind reeling back the accusations and insults we can continue on with our evening,” Chase finished, leaning back into his chair.
Well now, that was a clear and concise speech. Nikki had to admit she was the most defensive person she knew. Her shields had been built years ago and it was going to take a strong man to knock them down. She wondered if this could be the man. Did things like that happen? Did real lasting relationships spawn out of meeting someone randomly at a bar? Her pessimism would say definitely not, but that little spark of hope inside her was screaming at her to take a chance.
