Beast or not, they were all on the same side, fighting the same enemy.
Greer hadn’t died but she sure as fuck should have, and would have if Mayhem had anything to say about it. She was a cranky patient, critical as all fuck, and miserable to be chained to the recovery bed.
“She should be ready to get out of here soon,” Aubrey said from the doorway, filling him in on Greer’s progress after having come down from another healing session.
“Thank fuck for that.” Mayhem chuckled as he closed the lid on his laptop, ready to get the hell out of his office for the day. Now that he was able to change at will, he wasn’t bound to the cycles of the day. He let his wolf or beast out when he felt like it, then reclaimed his human form when he needed. Hannah’s doses of calming balance kept them all in check.
Aubrey nodded. “I’ve got shit to do. I’ll see ya later.” She passed Summer on her way out, patting the other woman on the shoulder in greeting.
“So the status on the portals isn’t good, right?” Summer asked into her cell as she walked into Mayhem’s office. She gave him a nod.
Mayhem grimaced. More bad news. The portal that Darcy and Greer had attempted to close was all locked up tight, sealed for good, according to Darcy. That wasn’t the problem.
“Reports of five more splits,” Summer said as she hung up her call.
“Ariana sending a team out?” Mayhem asked.
It had been six weeks of hell since they’d battled together. Everyone was spread out, trying to fix the mistake they’d created when Greer had taken the bullet while casting. Everyone took responsibility on it though—everyone had a hand to play in how things went down and so it was a community effort to clean up the mess. So far, no reports of beasts attacking humans had popped up in the media. The Order and the Amazons were doing their best to spread the word that they needed more Huntresses to come forward. With the history of the Burning Times, it seemed like a big challenge to rebuild the trust. It would come, just not as fast as they needed it to.
Summer cringed. “The rift is in England this time.”
“Motherfucker!” Mayhem ground his jaw, clenching his fist. “She’s getting reports there now too?”
As it turned out, Darcy and Greer had closed one portal—the big one—but opened mini portals all over the world and the beasts locked in Tartarus were slowly figuring it out. Add that to the ones still on the loose from the first breech and there was a lot of beast hunting going on.
“She put the call out, but everyone is pretty busy right now.” Summer slumped into a chair. “She wanted to know if we had any reason to head overseas.”
“Mmhmm.” He knew what that meant. “I’ll get Dave to book some flights. Maybe we can schedule a few surprise concerts out there, make it worth our while.”
Summer nodded. “That’s what I thought you’d say. Talk later.” She got up, pushed a button, then had her phone to her ear as she headed back out.
The portals could be sealed, but there were only a few Huntresses who could do it. Darcy had been running all over the place with the Amazons trying to get the ones tied up in the States. Now that Greer was almost healed, she’d be able to help too.
“Darcy is on her way back,” Raven said as he limped his way into the room. His thigh wound where Summer had nailed him with one of her etched blades hadn’t totally healed up, but he wasn’t following doctors’ orders and staying off it.
Mayhem motioned for him to sit, which he did reluctantly. “How you doin’?”
Raven shrugged. “Same as yesterday, and the day before that.”
He hadn’t been himself since they got back. Which Mayhem could understand. He had a heavy load on his conscience. “You and Darcy have a chance to talk yet?”
“Yeah, a bit.” Raven ran his fingers through his hair, his Mohawk growing out, so long it flopped to the side like a sad-looking fin. “She wants to just forget about it, start fresh.”
“That’s a lot of dirt to try and sweep away.” Mayhem sighed. “We all have some shit to clean up.”
“A lot of damage to repair.” Raven rubbed his leg. “Trust issues for sure.”
“Hey, there are no trust issues on my side.” Mayhem pulsed that truth through the hive mind, adding a jolt so Raven didn’t doubt it.
Raven nodded. “Yeah, man, I know. It’s more like, I don’t trust myself. I mean, I know I won’t go feral but it’s gonna take some time for me to really believe it.”
“Sounds like you’re still looking for some forgiveness,” Mayhem said.
“I killed some innocent girls, May.” Raven hung his head for a moment, his voice cracking a little. “I can’t even remember it, though. Just know because of what you all told me.”
“It’s a hard reality to accept. That wasn’t you though, Rav. No one thinks that it was.” Mayhem frowned. “No one holds it against you.”
“I know.” He looked up, tears glistening in his eyes. “What I did to Darc… Unforgivable and yet…”
“She does forgive you,” Mayhem said.
“Yeah.” Raven blew out a breath. “Somehow, she does. Fuck, man, she doesn’t even flinch, doesn’t even hesitate to take me in her arms.”
“The girls are somethin’ else.” Mayhem thought of his Hannah, so strong and courageous, and lippy as all hell thanks to her success on the battlefield. She’d saved Greer’s life out there. She’d saved him too. “So it’s you that needs to move past it all. Me too. Our stubborn asses need fixing. The girls have a job to do.” Mayhem didn’t like it, the whole Huntress thing but he was getting used to it. Or at least, he stopped grumbling quite so loudly when Aubrey led them out on a hunt. “This is our reality now.”
“Yeah, man, I know. And I know things will work out. We went into this a strong pack, we’ll come out of it one too.” Raven smirked. “Maybe a little broken, with a few chips and cracks, but all together.”
“We gonna have a group hug or something?” Jay said as he walked into the room, Dy following closely behind. “I hear there’s a meeting. Summer said we’re outta here.”
“Another portal opened in England. Looks like we’re headed there when Darcy gets back.” Mayhem stood. “We do need to talk though. Make sure our shit is on the same page.” He motioned for Jay and Dy to take a seat.
“Bree wants to go out, wants her beast with her. She likes hunting with me.” Jay grinned, his thumb indicating where Aubrey was waiting in the hall.
“This won’t take long.” Mayhem raised his hand, gesturing for patience. “I know in the past I haven’t been the most supportive when it came to the girls and their wolf slayer urges. But I’m making it a pack declaration. We support the woman, keep the griping to a minimum. Gotta trust that they know their shit enough to stay out of trouble.”
“Hey, man, I’ve been telling you guys that forever.” Jay snorted. “No way I can stop Bree from doin’ her thing. We mated into this life. Didn’t know shit when we did, but it comes with the designation. Huntresses hunt. And we’ve got some badass females in our corner.”
“That doesn’t mean it isn’t scary as fuck that they’re going out there,” Dy said, arms crossed as he leaned back in his chair. “But I know Summer can handle her shit. And I kinda like kicking beast ass.”
Mayhem chuckled. “Yeah, me too.” He pointed his finger at each of them. “But don’t forget, fellas, you’re rock stars first.” He winked.
The boys chuckled, maybe not as carefree. Everyone definitely had an edge now, but as he surveyed his pack, he knew they’d all recover and stand strong as one.
* * * * *
Mayhem was in his dressing room, an hour till show time and he had his dick buried so deep in Hannah that his balls were soaked with her cream. He curled his hands under her ass, lifting her so that he could nuzzle her neck as he slowly pumped.
“Feels good, baby,” he moaned, nipping her throat ge
ntly.
She ran her fingers through his hair, tugging until he looked down at her. “Yeah, it does.” She leveraged her feet against his hips and pushed him back until his cock slipped out of her. Then she jumped down from the table and walked over to the couch, and leaned over. “You want a piece of this?” She wiggled her ass, looking over her shoulder with a smirk.
She had her ass-kicking boots on and nothing else, her hair curling along her back, enticing him to get a good handful and ride her hard.
He let his dick lead the way then sank in deep again, groaning as her pussy clenched him tight. He smacked her ass, leaving a handprint on her lily-white skin. He lifted her hips, pulling her back hard and fast, just as she liked.
She slipped her hand down, playing with her clit while he fucked her, her arm flexing as she rubbed herself, crying out each time he thumped her ass. He moved one hand from her hip to her tit. He cupped her flesh while he used the other hand to take a handful of hair and give her a tug. Pulling her up so she was almost standing. She turned her head toward him, letting out another sexy moan.
He nuzzled her ear. “You’re mine, Huntress.” He pinched her nipple, swallowing her moan with his mouth on hers, tongue stroking as he loved her some more.
He rode her until she screamed, bucking with him as her climax exploded, her pussy spasming, squeezing his cock until he couldn’t take a second more. He came hard, filling her up, bellowing his release until every last drop was inside her.
He sighed against her the back of her neck, kissing her there before pulling out. Giving her ass one last smack for good measure.
She giggled then pushed herself up, flipping her hair over her shoulder as she did. “That for good luck?”
Mayhem nodded as he pulled her into his arms and kissed her again. “You don’t need luck. That’s so that you don’t forget who your master is.”
Hannah laughed. “You better watch it, boy, or you’ll be visiting Tartarus all over again.”
He pulled her against his body, smiling in a predatory way. “I like it when you get all threatening.” He squeezed her ass. “You better get dressed and get outta here before we’re both late for our jobs.”
Hannah giggled again. “The beasts can wait, Mayhem, and so can your fangirls.” She pushed her tits against his chest and jammed her tongue into his mouth, making him melt all over again.
Mated to a Huntress sure had its perks.

The Dark War, Book 1
Witch. Hunter. Traitor. Kali Richards’s solitary life’s work is to hunt the evildoers of her own kind and bring them to justice. She’s poised to catch her latest bounty when she realizes her quarry is a witch-vampire hybrid with a taste for blood—Kali’s blood.
She’s lost quite a lot of it when Wyatt, the ex who still owns the pieces of her shattered heart, comes to her rescue. Eight years apart hasn’t cooled her anger over their breakup. Neither has it cooled the desire still steaming between them.
As Wyatt heals her wounds, he brings disturbing news: Kali’s mother has awakened from a years-long coma with a prophecy on her lips. A Dark War is coming that will pit supernatural against human. Kali is the key to stopping it.
Except Kali isn’t what you’d call adept at spellcasting. Like it or not, she needs a lot of help. From Wyatt, and from the organization that she turned her back on once before—the Witch Hunter’s Union. Even with an army at her back, she’s in for one hell of a ride…
Warning: May contain a stubborn little kick-ass witch, a wickedly sexy ex-boyfriend and a whole lot of hybrid trouble.
