Nate heaved a dramatic sigh, but he was still grinning. Reaching over, I squeezed his thigh, then withdrew my hand to the gear shift. Bicker and fight we might, but life would be so boring without him. And life? That was one thing I intended to get the most out of—today, tomorrow, forever.
THE END
…or is it?
When I started writing the Green Fields series, I always knew that there would be six books, following Bree’s journey from a workaholic lab rat to badass mercenary leader. I knew where the plot was going, I knew when to start weaving foreshadowing into the story to paint the right picture once all the dots were connected. It has been an amazing experience for me to watch readers’ reactions follow along with the changes, along all the ups and downs the characters got to fight their way through. Then book #5 hit the shelves, and with it came the inevitable announcement that the next one would be the last. Considering that the series has gathered a neat crowd of followers I wasn’t surprised that a lot of you were screaming for #6 pretty much the moment they’d finished #5, but what I didn’t see coming was how many wanted more than just one last book.
You demanded and I listened, and I’m happy to announce that the series isn’t over yet! Right now I have three more books planned, and considering what is going to happen in the last one, it might be four instead.
Now, if you’re one of the readers who doesn’t like longer series, here is the perfect moment to stop. None of the previous books has had such a final ending with this amount of closure as Unity. Don’t get me wrong, there are leads woven into the book that have already paved the road for #7, but you won’t miss out if you feel like this is the ending to the series for you. 99% of the book is what it has always been intended to be. The only real change is the very ending that might have been a little different had it remained the last book, but I think I did a good job checking all the boxes that needed to be checked along the way. If this is where we part ways (or at least where you say you’ve had enough of Bree, Nate, and the rest of the gang in your life) please know that I am deeply grateful for the time you invested in reading my stories. I hope to see you again in the future on one of the many projects I want to launch in the coming years.
If your reaction is more along the lines of, “Gimme book #7 right fucking now!” then I have good news for you: I’m already working on it! If you want to be sure not to miss the release, why not sign up for my newsletter so you’ll get an email from me as soon as it’s available. To answer what may be your most pressing questions: Yes, it will again be written from Bree’s point of view, it picks up not long after where Unity ended, and the Rover is dead for good. Thank you so much for being along for the ride! Hope you’ll love the remaining installments in the series as much as the initial six volumes!
Acknowledgement
A huge thank you goes out to my beta readers. You did an amazing job, both hunting typos and giving feedback. The book ended up needing an additional eight pages thanks to you. You’re the best!
Equally so, writing this book would have been so much harder without the man in my life who brings me coffee at 10 in the evening and now brags that his girl isn’t getting PTSD from shooting his AR-15. (If that inside joke is lost on you, look up “reporter got PTSD from shooting AR-15.” I shit you not.)
Also my editor and cover designer, because they make this madness look downright professional. Michelle, who lured me out of hiding with promises of Lego corgis, milkshakes, and unicorn mugs. But most of all, all the great people who love my books and let me know via email, facebook, and all the other ways they manage to track me down. You are amazing! Even more so if you take a moment more and leave a review on Amazon. Even if it’s only one line, it means the world to me and makes a huge difference for us Indie authors!
