Gatsby meowed loudly.
I reluctantly stopped kissing Leo. “Sorry, kitty.” Then I searched Leo’s face. “Can you ever forgive me?”
He nodded. “Of course, as long as you can forgive me.” He gave me a quick kiss and continued. “I shouldn’t have walked away. I should’ve stayed and made you listen to reason. Can you forgive me?”
“I already have.”
Gatsby rubbed his side against my calf.
“Wanna get out of here?” I asked.
“You know how?” Leo gave me a strange look.
I thought about it a moment and realized I did. Abernathy really had given me so many gifts. He hadn’t been a father, but he’d tried to help me in his way. “Yes, as a matter of fact I do.”
A big smiled spread across Leo’s face. “Awesome. Let’s go.”
We started to walk hand in hand, but Leo stopped. “What about the cat? Do you think it’ll be okay in these mists?”
I snorted. “He’ll be just fine.”
As we walked I explained how I was no longer the Heart. I told Leo what Gabe had done.
We went to Polly’s Paradise to see Gabe, but he was still buried deep. In the next few days he’d come out and Leo and I could thank him together. It made me happy that Gabe would always be in my life. He was a good man and had been my friend for as long as I could remember. It would be nice to have him near.
The next day Quilla made me another gorgeous dress and Leo and I were married inside the castle, with as many of the creatures of Polonias as could make it to our wedding on such short notice.
AnnaBelle was no longer cursed to be two rabbits, so she stayed as a woodland fairy the whole time. It was weird, but she seemed so happy to be back to herself. I’d made her a maid of honor and she wore a beautiful dress in light lavender. Violet also stood beside me in a lavender dress.
That night, Leo and I sealed our marriage the way all married couples should. It was perfection—or, at least as perfect as two imperfect individuals can be. Fine, it was hot. So hot, and awesome, and… merde, you get what I saying. It was perfection.
We lived in peace and harmony for many, many days. Until Jasmine the Vampire showed up, which is a whole other story.
So let’s just say we lived.
Thanks so much for reading The Cindy Chronicles. I hope you enjoyed reading the way this story played out. These characters mean the world to me. I’m sure you feel the same way. If Cinderella could, she would tell you that you’re awesome! And then she’d probably swear in French ~ just because she likes the word.
If you enjoyed The Cindy Chronicles, please leave a review. It only takes a few minutes but means a great deal to me.
Sincerely,
