The Turning: Book Two in The Medici Warrior Series Page 24

He unhooked her bra and slid it off her shoulders to expose her beautiful breasts. He kissed each nipple, ran his tongue around them, sucked at them, and blew his breath across them before moving to her panties. He slid both hands down her side, and onto her hips, pushing her panties downward until they dropped to the floor, letting her step from them. He picked her up again and laid her gently on his bed and stepped back and looked at her. “My angel.”

Rissa couldn’t believe she was letting things go so far, but she -wanted and needed something beyond Alec. She could no longer resist him. She craved just once to have someone hold her like this. This was what she longed to feel; wanted, safe, loved. She remembered all the times they had been together like this, and she wanted it again, now, just this once, she promised herself. Sitting up, she slid her hands around his waist and pulled him to the edge of the bed, flinging her hair back as she stared up at him. “Max, I’m still afraid. I can’t feed from you or you from me. There is no way Alec won’t know.”

Sliding her hands up his broad chest, she gripped his hair and pulled his face to hers and licked his lips, then kissed him hard and long. Her body aching and in need of release and the sweet gentle pleasures he could give her.

He unbuttoned his jeans and slid the zipper down, pushing them over his hips. As he did, her hands reached out and helped him push them down, where he stepped free. Her hands were on his black briefs, stroking, turning him to steel.

“My angel. I will drink from you and you from me, just like we used to. And I’ll make you feel it all. You’re safe, Rissie, he’ll know nothing. I promise you, I’ll never place you in harm’s way. Now lay back on the bed.”

He watched as she lay on her back, her hair pooled on the pillow, her skin smooth, her body toned. He slid off his briefs and set his cock free, as he watched her eyes move to take him in. He lay down on his side beside her. “Close your eyes, my angel, close your eyes and feel.”

As she lay with her eyes closed, he took a feather in his hand, and ran it across her forehead and down her nose, where he watched her crinkle her nose slightly and he smiled at her. He continued the journey with the feather across her lips and watched as she gently parted them. He ran the feather down her neck, and between her breasts, and then to each nipple. He saw her back arch upwards and listened to the soft moan escape her lips. He let the feather travel down across her tight belly and gently brushed the feather across her sex and heard her whisper his name.

Her hand gripped his upper thigh and she squeezed, then slid her hand to his hardened cock and took him in her hand, hard and erect. She stroked him several times, his rod long and thick in her hand and she remembered how it glided deep and hard inside her, filling her full.

Max chuckled when she grabbed his cock and slid her hand along its shaft. He dropped the feather and slid his fingers between her legs, sliding easily between the moist petals of her sex and finding her clit, before slipping his fingers deep inside her, watching as her hips rose off the bed. His mouth sought out a nipple, and he sucked and bit it gently. He knew she was used to pain as a substitute for pleasure, but she would feel only pleasure from him. He moved to the other breast, as he slid his body on top of hers. He wanted her to feel the weight of him on top of her. He had watched as Alec mounted her from behind, denying her even the intimacy of full body contact. His mouth covered hers and he plunged his tongue deep into her throat. He slid his arm beneath her back and lifted her breasts into his chest, increasing the arch in her back. He felt her legs lift to wrap around his waist, but he slide his hands along the backs of her thighs, and pushed her knees to her shoulders, as he penetrated her, sliding his cock deep into her. ”You will feel me, angel, you will feel me in the deepest part of you.”

He thrust into her, moving slowly at first, giving her time to adjust her movements to his before he fucked her hard, pushing deep, pounding her, claiming her as his.

Rissa relished in the feel of his body on top of her, the weight and smell of him, able to see his face. She could feel the moment he went from making love to fucking, and she was well aware of the difference. It felt good to watch his face, his eyes closed and his hair hanging in his eyes, that shaggy mane swaying with his movements, his lips parted, and she was lost to him. “Yes, Max, your angel.”

She bit into his chest and then his bicep and gripped his hair hard. Throwing her head back, she screamed as she tried to hold back the orgasm building inside.

He felt her body respond, arching, hips thrusting to meet his, and he could feel the tension in her body increase, as she was pushed to the edge of orgasm. Alec made her wait. Alec made her ask permission. But Max would take her there, he wouldn’t make her beg and he never would. “Drink from me, my angel, now, as I drink from you.”

He raised his face to her and bared his fangs, growled from deep in his chest before lowering his mouth to her neck and biting deep and hard, drawing her blood into his mouth. He felt her mouth seek out his neck and the sting of her fangs as they sank into him. The release of blood into his mouth released his beast. His growl deepened as his eyes glowed red and he felt his cock throbbing deep inside her, as he felt her sex tighten around him, pulling, pulsing. He heard her feral growl as she drank from him, raw and animal, hungry for what she was too frequently denied. Her body bucked beneath him, and her growl turned into a scream of pleasure long denied.

He fucked her harder, cumming inside her, letting his hot cum fill her, as she thrusts hard to receive every inch of him. He denied her nothing. He gave her everything. His growl rumbled through the room as he unlatched his jaw from her and threw his head back, feeling his own release into her, and watching her face contort with pleasure, mouth open, gasping, hands gripping his ass, nails piercing his skin as she pulled him deep inside of her. He rode her hard until the last wave of ecstasy washed over both of them, and then he collapsed on top of her, letting her legs drop down before pulling her to his chest. “My angel. My angel. You are mine.”

She felt herself let go of something that had been held back for way too long, and she collapsed from the intense sweetness of everything at once. Her body shook as he held her, claiming her as his angel, and she didn’t know how she would ever go home. Her arms wrapped around him tight and she cried into his shoulder, feeling vulnerable.

Max felt her tears flow, and he knew she was his. He held her to his chest, ran his hands through her hair and comforted her. “Shh, my angel. You are home.”

She shook her head, her hair whipping across her face. “No, Max, no! I have to go home. I have to go back.”

Scrambling from his bed, she was so torn. Stumbling, she gathered her clothes and the tears were still streaming.

He rose from the bed and stood before her, still naked and covered in the sweat of their passion. He would not stop her. He knew she would return to him. He saw her conflict, but he knew this woman. “My angel? So soon? There is so much more. So much more pleasure I need to share.” He slid his arms around her, as she dressed hastily and licked away her tears. “Don't cry, my angel. It will all fall into place. I promise you. We’ll get past all this confusion and you’ll know in your heart what you need to do.”

He released her to leave, or stay, the choice would be hers. It must be hers. She must come to him willingly.

She closed her eyes as his arms surrounded her, his beautiful soft lips and beard brushed across her face as he removed her tears. And then he let go. She turned to him, her heart ripping in two, her soul screaming and broken, torn between two mighty masters, both of whom she loved, and she realized she controlled their fate. It lay within her hands, one would die, and one would claim her, and it felt more than she could bear. “I’ll return, but now, I have to think.” Walking to him, she slid her hand across his face and whispered in his ear, “Thank you.”

She teleported from his sight instantly and felt the world she once thought she knew crash around her with this life-altering decision she must make.

p; As the sun set, Kate felt him stir beside her as he awoke, stretched and slowly turned his face to her. She was already awake and watching him. He smiled and slid his arms around her, as she leaned her head against his chest.

"Ti amo, mi amore," he whispered.

“I love you more,” she answered.

He got up and dressed in leathers, prepared to leave their bedroom, kissing her softly on the lips, and asking her once again to stay upstairs until the warriors left.

“Lover, you protect me from so much.”

She waited until she heard him leave, with the warriors in tow, before dressing and going to find Luca. She tapped at his door to found him ready as always.

Luca led her outside and she started warming up without being told, then they began their nightly run.

“The warriors love the fire pit area, we’ll need to be sure we steer clear of it during our run, or they’ll see us. Since the activity in the streets has slowed down some, master has been rotating their shifts, so they’re not on every night. I guarantee, if they’re off, once they have been to the feeders, they’ll be outside around the fire pit.”

Luca modified the direction of their running loop to keep them further away from the staff quarters. Master would not question why he ran with her, he would expect that, but he must be careful they didn’t observe him training her.

They ran in silence for a few minutes as she waited for him to give her an update on Shannon, but none was forthcoming. “Have you called Shannon?”

Luca looked over at her. “Now, how did I know that question would be coming?”

  “Well... did you?”

“Yes, I called her. She sounded very excited to join us. And thank you for suggesting we all go out together. When master said he wanted to meet her... well... he can be intimidating.”

She had to laugh at his observation. “Intimidating, that's an understatement.”

Luca asked, “Did you find him intimidating? When you first met him?”

“Actually, I did. But I don't think I found him intimidating in the way you mean. I think I felt overwhelmed by him, like I was out of my league. Do you understand that phrase?”

She looked to see him nod his head yes.

“You know I met him through Rissa. I saw him at Alec and Rissa’s parties several times soon after he had moved here from Florence, when he had just come here to do some work for Alec. At least, that is how Rissa explained it. Shade approached me several times, tried to start a conversation, but I would just come undone and make up some excuse to leave. I was intrigued by him, really fascinated by him, but I would get tongue-tied and make up some stupid excuse about having to leave. He started showing up at the places I went with my friends after work. He always left me flustered.”

“And you knew he was vampire?”

“No, I didn’t know at first. And then Rissa invited me to her Halloween party, the one she holds every year for her clients and I only occasionally attend, but I suspected he would be there. Rissa was trying to warn me off for some reason. She told me, ‘You know he's a vampire, right?’ I just looked at her like she had two heads and said I didn't believe in vampires. Then she laughed and said, ‘Well you know I'm a vampire, right? And Alec. Alec turned me.’ I really thought she was kidding, you know, just part of her Halloween party plans or something. I mean, I knew Rissa was mortal, we went to college together, and I knew she was mortal then... but now she was saying Alec turned her? It was just a little too Twilight Zone for me.”

Luca creased his brow. “Twilight Zone?”

“Oh... an old TV show... weird science fiction stories. Anyway, we had seen each other a few times before Halloween, and I was starting to really feel attracted to him, and then Rissa told me the whole vamp thing. I said I wasn’t buying it, and then she started telling me about feeders… and other stuff… that, you know, goes with feeding. She had already been telling me what a player he was, so I’m thinking, you know, maybe I needed to back off here. Why is she trying so hard to warn me off of this guy? I went to the party, and I was determined to ignore him, to sort of put an end to things, but well, he's a little hard to ignore. The party was really fun. They had great music, and everyone was in costume and dancing, I was drinking tequila shots, and the next thing you know, I was leaving the party with him.”

“So, you knew then? That he was vampire?”

“No! Still no. I mean, he was dressed all in black leather... but I guess when I thought of a vampire I was thinking, black cape and white skin with fangs exposed, not some hot dark-skinned Italian guy dressed in tight leather pants.”

He chuckled at her mortal image of a vampire. “A cape... really?”

“Yes, the cape... turning into a bat...”

She saw him throw his head back laughing.

“I know, right? So, we're at my condo, and he’s telling me, you know, that he's a vampire and I was just blowing it off. But I kissed him, and he did the fang thing. I mean, I didn't know you guys could retract them. I just assumed if you have fangs they’re always there. So, I kissed him and I could feel them with my tongue and I jumped off the sofa. I was totally freaked. I think I just paced around the room, while he talked to me. He told me Rissa and Alec were both vamps as well. I eventually sat back down. I don't know... curiosity? But I was drawn to him. I had always been drawn to him. And, what can I say?”

“So, Shannon... does she know yet?”

“No. I haven't told her. I mean, I haven't told any of my mortal friends or family. Shade needed me to keep it quiet, so he’s not exposed, and well, seriously, who would believe me anyway? And with Shannon, at first, there was no need to divulge that. I mean, I never want to put Shade at risk, you know? But then you two, one look and just... wow! So, then all that started to happen, but you were insistent Shade had to make the decision, I thought, well, I can't tell her now! What if Shade says no?”

Luca looked to her. “Should I tell her? Before we go out?”

“I've been thinking about that. I mean, I'm not sure what Shade is looking for. He feels strongly about meeting her, and he has said he won't decide until then. I can't imagine he will say no, Luca. I just can't. But what if? So, I just keep thinking we should wait. Let Shannon spend time with you, and get to know you, and then you will both know if this is something you want to pursue. And then hear Shade's final decision. And if he says yes, and the two of you want to move forward together, then I would say that would be the time to tell her.”

“How do you think she’ll react?”

“Honestly, I have no idea. I mean, I have to tell you, this isn’t a conversation mortals sit around having... ‘So, you go out with a guy and then you find out he's a vampire, would you go on a second date?’ I mean, Shannon is my wild child girlfriend. She's the friend who always got me into trouble, but this one... this is just so far out there, I really can't predict it.”

He looked dejected. “So she could say no...”

“Well... yes, that is a possibility. But a risk I think is worth taking.”

“But if she says no, and she tells others, then we are exposed.”

Kate laughed. “Well, here's the beauty of that situation. Most mortals are like me, or like I used to be, in that we don't believe in vampires. So, if she says she went out with a vampire, they will think she’s the crazy one. So, no, I don't worry about being exposed. But don't worry about that. Just have fun, be yourself, let her see you. If that happens, the vampire stuff doesn't matter.”

“Will you tell her? If Shade approves, and she wants to see me again... Will you tell her? Maybe if she knows Shade is a vampire, and you are with him, then she won’t be afraid to say yes.”

She stopped running to look at him, and he stopped as well as they stood together on the wooded footpath. “Yes, if Shade says yes, and she’s falling for you, then yes, I’ll tell her.”

As they stood there, they both heard a rustling in the underbrush and looked to the woods. She saw Luca pick up the scent, and then he said,
“Coyote.” They were standing downwind, so the animal had not picked up their scent as she saw it emerge from the brush into a clearing. The coyote sensed them at last and lifted his head and stared at her. She held his stare for a few minutes, and then started to walk toward him. She felt Luca grab her arm and he whispered, “Kate.”

"It's all right," she answered and continued to move in the direction of the coyote. As she approached him, the coyote sat and waited for her. She knelt in front of him and he nuzzled her with his head. She rubbed between his ears and spoke softly to him, and then he turned and walked away, looking back at her before disappearing into the woods.

“Fuck!” He watched as she walked to the animal, to pet him like a dog so many mortals keep as pets. “What the fuck was that?”

She shrugged. “I have no idea.”

“But Kate, why did you approach him?”

She looked at him, his face a question mark. “Luca, I have no idea. But... never mind.”

“No. You don't pet a wild coyote and then say never mind. Finish the sentence.”

“He... spoke to me. Not in words. It was telepathic, like the way Shade communicates with me sometimes. I don't know. I can't really explain it. He called to me, and I knew he wouldn't hurt me.”

She shrugged her shoulders and they finished the run back to the house. His mind was racing. She had master's blood, but she had not yet been turned. There were very rare vampires who could communicate with animals... control them... call them to do their bidding. Luca had never met another vampire with this gift. It was only a story that had been shared as their history, passed down through the generations. But Kate was not yet vampire. And the vampires with those skills were born vampire, not turned. They were always masters of pure blood.
