Roald Dahl, novelist and writer of short stories and screenplays, was born in Llandaff, South Wales, in 1916. Mr. Dahl had a diverse and exciting life, which included exploring Newfoundland, being a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force, working for the British Embassy in Washington, D.C., and then writing magazine stories and screenplays.
