“I like knowing that. I like knowing my little plan is making you feel this way.”

Delaney undid his belt and his jeans. With great care, he sat down on the edge of the bed and removed his footwear, then got fully naked. He glanced up at Grigori. “You haven’t even moved,” he accused.

  “I was watching you.”

  “Grigori, get moving.”

Reaching into his pocket, Grigori tapped the remote so Delaney’s plug would vibrate again. It was once again on the lowest setting, but it had a profound effect on the wizard. Without having to guard his condition in front of others, a long moan slipped out and he lay back on the bed.

“Don’t touch yourself, just feel,” he instructed as Delaney absorbed the pleasure. He undid the buttons of his shirt as the wizard undulated against the mattress. Delaney’s cock was hard enough that it was lying against his muscled belly and leaking profusely. It was dark red at the tip, and Grigori licked his lips. He loved the feel of him in his mouth, but that was not on his agenda for the afternoon. Next time, he promised himself as he let his top flutter toward the area rug.

Deftly, Grigori unzipped his jeans, then toed off his sneakers. He ripped off his socks and pushed his pants to the floor. All the while he never took his eyes off Delaney, who was breathing heavily through his mouth and clutching the bedspread in his fists. When Grigori was blissfully naked, he took a few steps forward so his legs were nearly touching Delaney’s. He set the remote for the plug next to him, then put his hands on Delaney’s thighs and slid them up toward his tight balls.

“Now don’t get cranky, but I need you to move around a bit.”

“Oh, come on,” Delaney grumbled as their eyes met.

“All for a good cause, I promise.” Grigori straightened up and snatched his remote. “You just need to swing around a bit. I want you lying down with your legs nicely spread so I can see your plug and your head should be toward the end of the bed.”

Delaney maneuvered himself around. “You got any more instructions? Like I should be exactly six degrees from the westward sun or some shit?”

“Not at all, go on. You’re doing wonderfully.”

“I’m going to do this to you,” Delaney threatened. “There’s going to be a plug in your ass—which will definitely be vibrating except I’m putting it on fucking maximum—then I’m going to say I want you to do seven jumping jacks, come up with an equation to bring back the dinosaurs, and then and only then will I discuss how you need to put your limbs so you might consider getting some relief for your aching dick.”

Grigori snagged the bottle of lube and walked around the bed, so he could relax against the pillows. The sight that greeted him when he sat down made him want to shut the fuck up and come already, but half the fun was the dance that led them to the end. Delaney dutifully bent his knees and slid them apart, putting the dark plug nestled so snugly in his hole on full display. It was one of the most beautiful things Grigori had witnessed, which he relayed to Delaney.

“I’m really glad you like it, but can we please get this show on the road?” Delaney requested through his teeth.

Grigori pushed down on the remote and ramped up the vibration by one level. The muscles in Delaney’s legs tensed and quivered as he arched his back. He dropped the remote onto the bed and unsnapped the slick. After dumping some into his palm, he coasted it over Delaney’s balls.

“I need you to let go of the covers, so I can give you some lube,” Grigori encouraged. Delaney slowly unclenched his fingers and lifted one hand toward Grigori. He squeezed some of the liquid into it, then set it aside. “Go on. Start jerking yourself nice and slow.”

  “Slow? Really?”

“Or I turn off the plug and take it out.”

“Fucking sadist,” Delaney spat out as he wrapped his fingers around his thick cock. His toes curled into the mattress and he leisurely stroked it. Grigori settled a little more comfortably against the cushions and grabbed his own dick. After a couple of seconds, he was able to match his mate’s rhythm. Once they were in tandem, he returned to toying with Delaney’s nuts with his free hand.

“The only thing that compares to this,” Delaney commented as he swiped his tongue over his lips, “is being inside you. Other than that…nothing feels this good. Nothing.”

“That sounds like a challenge. We’re going to see what we can do to top it,” Grigori said, not even close to joking. They had an immortal lifetime, and he was now addicted to what they could create together.

It was his good luck that his wizard had a mind very similar to his own. “I might have some ideas,” he breathed out as he focused his attention to the head of his cock and gave it a little twist, then returned to his gentle stroking.

“I think you might be cheating,” Grigori complained. If he had his way, this experience would last hours, but it was not to be. Still, he had no real protest to finding his release. He’d driven Delaney to a place where only fucking previously matched. That was his goal from the start and one of the reasons he’d wanted to try the plug in the first place. The other main one being that he wanted to be sure Delaney liked the feel of something inside him. There was no way he wanted his wizard to find out he didn’t like being penetrated when it was Grigori’s dick pushing inside him.

“I’m pretending this plug is you,” Delaney confessed as he lifted his ass a little off the mattress as he crept closer to completion. The good news was that Grigori was on the same timetable—a couple of quicker jerks and he would be more than satisfied.

“My dick is amazing, but it won’t vibrate.”

Delaney let out a wheezing chuckle. “That’s a shame. I’m close, Grigori. So fucking close.”

Deciding he was not quite done torturing his wizard, Grigori reached over and tapped the remote again, raising up the vibration to the strongest he’d exposed Delaney to so far.

“Oh, fucking hell,” Delaney gasped. He forgot all about going slow and his hand moved with confidence over his cock. Not only was he going faster, his grip tightened. Grigori hadn’t stopped fondling his balls, and he slid his thumb down to a spot on his scrotum which would give him even more pleasure. When he found it, Delaney yelled out his name and painted his stomach in thick white ropes. Every muscle in his body locked as he feverishly worked his dick through his release.

Grigori was so focused on his lover, he hadn’t bothered picking up the pace of his own fist. He pulled his hand away from Delaney and closed his eyes as he allowed the pleasure to flow freely through his veins. No longer constrained by his desire to make things last as long as possible, sparks flew down his spine. He got close, but what pushed him over the edge was a wet mouth closing over the tip of his sex. Grigori had no choice but to shoot his load down Delaney’s throat.

When he could catch his breath again, he lifted his lashes. Delaney grinned at him, then swiped his arm over his lips.

“You still have come on your face.”

  “I need more practice swallowing.”

  “Give me a kiss.”

Delaney grabbed his face with both hands—one still wet with lube and his seed—and pressed their mouths together in a deep, thorough exchange of lips and eager tongues. Grigori reached behind him and grabbed the plug to pull it gently out of Delaney’s ass. The wizard sighed into their kiss.

“It’s not vibrating anymore,” Grigori said when they came up for air.

“I turned it off before I put your very tasty dick in my mouth.”

“Did you have fun this afternoon?” Grigori asked as he pulled his wizard close and tossed the plug aside. When he had feeling in his extremities again, he would get around to cleaning it unless a certain sorcerer used magic as he normally did after they came together.

“You, me, and a plug has to be one of the best sexual equations ever.”

“See, I told you I was good at that kind of thing.”

“I never doubted you,” Delaney responded with a gentle buss to his cheek.

  “I’m going to grin
like an idiot all through dinner.”

Delaney’s eyes went wide with disbelief. “You’re going to be grinning? Oh no, Grigori, I got the better end of this deal.”

“If we’re talking ends, then you must be referring to the rear variety, and you’ve got the best one ever. I loved seeing your reaction to the plug. You’re very responsive. I must focus more energy on all these lovely nerve endings back here,” he said as he patted Delaney’s ass.

“You won’t hear any complaints from me,” Delaney commented as he slid off the bed. “We need to shower before dinner.”

Grigori got up and followed him into the bathroom. “You all but threatened me this afternoon when I didn’t do things the way you wanted to.”

“I guess we’ll just see how you react when it’s your turn.”

Nodding, Grigori’s mind was already moving past the plug and wondering what other things he could try out with Delaney. “We’re going to have to do some research on sex toys and other types of enhancements that’re available for lovemaking.”

Delaney snickered as he pulled Grigori into the shower. “We’ll discuss it over potatoes and steak with the rest of our family.”

“That’s almost as gross as your familiar licking my balls.”

“I’m deeply concerned that it’s only ‘almost as gross.’ ”

Grigori grimaced. “Yes, it should be equal levels of ick. I’m afraid you’ll have to give me some leeway, I’ve just had incredible sex and my brain hasn’t kicked fully into gear yet.”

“Since I also had incredible sex this afternoon, consider yourself forgiven.”

As it often did in his presence, affection swept over Grigori. “I couldn’t love you more, Delsaurus.”

Delaney leaned up and kissed him. “That’s exactly how I feel about you.”

  Chapter 27

Delaney stood in the living room with Grigori at his side as people arrived for the occasion of their mating ceremony the following afternoon. Greggory was standing at attention on the vampire’s shoulder as if he too were getting ready to do something as incredible as tying his immortal soul to another.

While Delaney would be nervous before the ceremony, as he greeted all the extended D’Vaire family, he was relaxed. At his side Grigori was a little antsy, but it was only because social events did that to him. He wasn’t naturally good at mingling, and Delaney could relate. It was one of the many things they had in common.

When Prism Wizard Vadimas Porfyra popped into the D’Vaire mansion, Delaney greeted him with a warm embrace. “Thanks for being here, it means a lot to us,” Delaney said to the man who scooped him out of an orphanage and made him a High Arcanist.

“I couldn’t be more pleased for the both of you,” Vadimas returned. “Fate’s done another excellent job in putting you two together.”

“Delsaurus is pretty much perfect. Anyone would be lucky to have him,” Grigori replied, which made Delaney’s heart soar. It was incredible to know how loved he was and it still amazed him they managed to make it this far.

“The irony being that Del wanted to leave that party where you both met and even threatened to resign over it. Now look what would’ve happened if I’d given in to your little pipe dream. You wouldn’t be standing here with Grigori.”

“You’ve led me to all the best things in my life. First it was school, then D’Vaire, and you capped it off with dragging me to a party where I met my mate,” Delaney said as the truth of his words hit him. Vadimas had never let him down and had believed in him his whole life. It made him think of his sealed file and what contents could possibly be hiding in there. The question was, did he have the guts to pursue it, and could he handle the truth about whatever lay in his past?

“Delaney, from the moment I met you, I could see greatness in your future.”

“Do you think after all this is over—mating, shadow walking, Carvallius, and all the other stuff we all have on our plates right now, we could sit down and talk? There’s something we really need to discuss.”

Vadimas’s eyes grew troubled. “Is this something to do with your position as High Arcanist? Whether you realize it or not, the Spectra Wizardry needs both you and Idris.”

“Oh no, I’m only teasing when I talk about quitting. It’s an honor to be able to serve you and the Spectra Wizardry as High Arcanist. I’m lucky enough that I also get to do so with my best friend at my side,” Delaney said. He snuck a glance at Grigori. “Well, one of my best friends, anyway.”

“Good, because the thought of you setting aside all you’ve worked so hard for since you were a child makes me weak in the knees.”

Delaney grinned. “It’s a personal matter, nothing to do with the Spectra Wizardry.”

“Sure, we can meet whenever you like. Is there anything else I can do for you both?”

“We’re just super excited you’re here,” Grigori responded.

Vadimas leaned in slightly. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Now, I’m off to speak with T’Eirick and see what he can remember about the origins of wizardry.”

“Good luck,” Delaney said as the Prism Wizard wandered off.

“Are you going to ask him about your sealed file?” Grigori asked once they were alone. As it happened so often, Grigori read his mind.

“Yeah, I think I’m ready to find out why it’s sealed and what’s hiding in there. You know, as long as you’re there with me.”

  “Where else would I be?”

“Knowing you? Either locked in a lab or poring over sex toys on the Internet.”

“Say that a little louder, my family just got here.”

Delaney turned to find three vampires as well as Tigglesworth and Charlie walking toward them. Dra’Kaedan teleported the group as the two former humans weren’t gifted with that ability. After greeting Aleksander, they made it to the area near the two-story fireplace where Delaney and Grigori were planted. Grigori was embraced by each of them, and then it was Delaney’s turn.

“Thanks for being here, and welcome to D’Vaire,” Delaney offered.

“This place is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the rest,” Irina enthused. “Congratulations again to you both. I’m overjoyed about your ceremony tomorrow.”

“We’re excited too,” Grigori told his mother as Delaney nodded enthusiastically. He turned and spotted Trystan, who he waved over.

“I’d like you guys to meet Trystan D’Vaire,” Delaney said, then went through the list of names and titles of Grigori’s family.

“Vampyress, I can’t tell you what it would mean to me to be able to work on a book about your Vampyr Clutch,” Trystan remarked after greeting them.

“Call me Irina, and I’m grateful you’re interested in getting our story out there. We’ve been plagued by misconceptions our entire lives, and perhaps this would be one step closer to helping people see who we truly are.”

Delaney listened politely as they discussed times and places to get together to start the research for Trystan’s book. He gazed around the room as the Arch Lich and his entire family arrived as well as the Emperor and his brothers. The Reverent Knights and their parents, King and Queen Beradraconis, along with their first duke, Drogo, and his mate, Emmeline, were also among the people mingling. It reminded Delaney that he needed to refrain from speaking about the darkfallen until the D’Vaire house cleared out. Their guests would learn of the resurrections only after they were conducted.

As if she sensed that she was on his mind, Saura caught his eye. He gave her a gesture to know he wanted her to come on over and meet the vampires. She grabbed T’Eirick’s hand and dragged him away from Vadimas’s side. The two were fast friends, and they would have plenty of time over the weekend to discuss whatever topic was at the forefront of their minds.

When the former warlock rulers made it across the room, Delaney quickly went through the introductions and after greeting each other, the vampires insisted on their titles being dropped.

“Irina, your son’s an absolute delight. I’ve
enjoyed getting to know him. I don’t think there’s any doubt he’s a perfect match for Del,” Saura said.

“Oh thank you, we obviously adore him, and I feel the same way about Del. They’re such a delight to be around.”

“I hope you don’t mind Del telling us about the origins of the Vampyr Clutch,” T’Eirick stated. “I’m glad Trystan’s going to take on this project. It’s a powerful and moving story about tenacity. Although it happened before I became Grand Warlock, I can’t help but be ashamed of what my people did to hurt yours.”

“We hold nothing at all against the warlocks. As far as we’re concerned, it could’ve been any group of sorcerers obsessed with the idea of immortality. This group just happened to be warlocks. We’re so thrilled about Trystan’s desire to write about us. Magickind hasn’t always been receptive to vampires. We first approached members of the Council that we’d traded with or had simply met once or twice over the centuries to join after they left for North America. That stemmed from our fear of the Consilium Veneficus and what it might mean for us. Our overtures were ignored for a long time as I continued to get all the Vampyr Clutch on board to leave everything they had and start fresh. When we were finally all on the same page, I decided to appeal directly to the Emperor. I was so happy when he welcomed us with open arms,” Irina replied.

“All we knew of your people in our lifetimes was rumors and innuendo. Neither T’Eirick or I had ever seen a vampire, we weren’t sure if it was anything more than fables. Races were so isolated hundreds of years ago. I wish we’d known you. We wouldn’t have hesitated to ask you to join the Council in the brief time we led it,” Saura commented.

“We appreciate that,” Alexei said. “I think we can agree that it wasn’t the right time. I doubt our people would’ve been willing to join—they lacked trust in magickind, but I do wish things had worked out differently. Still, I think we’ve all wound up where we’re meant to be, and I’m greatly encouraged about what the future holds. For us and for the both of you.”
