If I didn’t know better, it almost looked like the dark dwarf had tears welling up in his eyes.
“I’ll do ya proud,” nodded Braun, taking Grimkell’s Mace from the king.
The dwarves and blue dragons cheered louder than before, and music started up.
“Congratulations Braun!” said Cassandra as the dwarf came back to join us.
“Looks like I’m with ye from now on,” said Braun. “Where to next? We leavin fer Durnskeep tomorrow?”
“Let’s take a votsie wotsie,” said Dhot, leaning heavily against the dwarf. “All in favor?”
Braun, Dhot, and Cassandra raised their hands. All three of them looked at me expectantly.
“This could be a trap,” I said. “I could be leading you all into the Tumbler’s hands.”
“I think we’ll manage,” smiled Cassandra.
The others nodded and waited for me.
I sighed, and raised my hand.
“To Durnskeep.”
“That’s what I’m talking about! Maha!” shouted Dhot, clapping. “This calls for another round of drinks!”
“No!” shouted the three of us.
