“I’ve always been sure. I promise, no more games.”
“But I love playing games with you,” she said. “It’s kind of our thing.”
He chuckled. “Then we’ll play lots of games. And we’ll never stop. But I promise, I’ll never play games with your heart.”
She laughed, but it sounded more like a sigh. Like she’d just let out a breath she’d been holding for two years, and finally, she could breathe again. She pressed her lips against his and murmured, “Then game on.”

Acknowledgments
A book never seems to be a one-player game but massively multiplayer, and it began with Lydia Sharp’s belief in me and their ability to see straight to the heart of my stories. Thank you for helping me write gooder writing. You always bring out the best in my books. And a big thank you to the team at Entangled for combo attacking this book, from the editing to the amazing marketing and publicity you do. You guys are awesome!
While I’m a geek and proud of it, the assistance of my resident gaming expert, Logan Slack, was invaluable. Thanks for being on-call 24-7. Pooja Menon, thank you for everything you’ve done for me from the very start and every level-up along the way. I wish you the best of luck in all that you do. A big thanks to Pat Esden, my beta reader, for giving my book a 1-up when I was feeling like it was game over, and to Denise Smith for being my eyes when they began to cross. And as always, thank you to Devin Smith for being my creative sounding board, my support, and my partner both in games and life.
And finally, if I can make a link to the past, I would not be the geek I am today without RPGs like Legend of Zelda and people like Selena Griffin who first taught me how to play and Jon LaBar who controller-swapped with me for countless hours. Thanks, Nintendo, for the memories.
