“Please,” Samuel breathed from the backseat.
With a heavy sigh, I retook control of the vehicle. “You know it’s probably safer with the system driving than me? Some of the newer models don’t even have a steering wheel. I was considering buying a limo where I ride in the back while nobody rides in the front, but I figured it wouldn’t fit in a town like Haven.”
“No, probably not.” But Sasha looked much more relaxed as I steered into the garage under my building. I rarely drove in the city at all, making my purchase of this car seem a little silly. But why not have a few toys?
Their expressions told me they thought my toy was silly, maybe dangerous. I’d been single a long time and made decisions on my own without consulting anyone, and while I had bought this one while still single, it was disquieting to realize that in future my choices, beyond say what kind of cruller to have with my coffee, would require consultation with my mates.
Especially since the biggest reason I had brought them here was not the doctor’s visit—important though it was—but to meet with my attorney.
He had prepared a number of documents requiring all of our signatures.
Our unicorn gobbled his share of deep-dish pizza with all the toppings and extra cheese, despite demolishing the pies along the road, and in a very short time we were on our way to Dr. Cohn’s office. As I’d thought, the eminent physician found time for us, but even as we rode up in the glass elevator to the doctor’s twentieth floor office, Samuel’s nervousness made me regret the whole thing. I watched him close down in a way I’d never seen, his usual chatty personality and ready smile replaced with tight lips, fluttering eyebrows, and fidgeting hands.
I hit the Stop button, bringing the clear box to a stop overlooking the city. A low buzzing accompanied a flashing red light on the wall.
“Samuel, we don’t have to do this.”
Sasha, to his credit, remained silent. This was my setup and probably screw up to fix.
“No, it’s okay,” he said, reaching for the buttons. “I know you worry about the baby.”
“The baby is safe inside you. My whole purpose in this is to make sure you are okay. You went through so much, we haven’t had a chance to find out if you have any lasting effects.”
“I was just thinking I need to get past being a single guy who makes decisions without any input and, well, I did it here, didn’t I?”
Sasha hugged Samuel hard. “We’re all learning. And you had everyone’s best interests at heart. I think that’s the most important thing here.”
“You guys can’t let me steamroll over you just because you love me.” I eyed the two of them standing together against the glass wall. “You do love me, right?”
They enfolded me in their arms in a group hug that reassured me my bossiness hadn’t ruined our life together. Then I asked Samuel if he wanted to see the doctor. He said no, and I hit the down button.
“Let’s go to my attorney. I want to share everything with you both, and that will take a whole lot of documents.”
Chapter Eighteen
Samuel
“No.” Sasha spoke curtly. There was no disguising his anger. “This is so not acceptable. You can’t just decide willy-nilly to do something like this.”
Not that I could blame him. We had eaten and then gone to Rob’s fancy-schmancy lawyer to find he had created contracts for us to sign.
Contracts!
Who does that? My mate, apparently, and springing it on us like that was bullshit. And sweet. He meant well, but still—
“Sasha did you listen to Quimby?”
Gah, even the lawyers name sounded pretentious. Although, to be fair, he seemed like a nice enough guy. He like smelled dog—possibly bear, so I was guessing wolf or possibly grizzly. It was hard to scent given the cigar smoke that clung to him.
I sat back in my chair, waiting to see how the entire thing unfolded. Technically, I had every bit as much say as they did, but I couldn’t even process what was on the table. Not fully, anyway.
Rob had his lawyer—or attorney as Quimby corrected me—write up contracts saying we would each own a third of what was an insane amount of treasure. That was what just didn’t set well. Dragons don’t give up their treasure. They don’t. It’s part of them, and acquiring it meant everything from everything I’d seen.
“Are you dying?” I spat out as the possibility slammed into me. That had been the only time I’d ever seen a dragon give away anything. Some even had their hoard buried with them.
“Samuel?” Sasha asked, his voice filled with worry. Shit. He thought I saw something.
“No.” I insisted as I grabbed his hand, the attorney looking at us as if he wished he’d popped some popcorn before the show started. “I didn’t see a blasted thing. It’s just—his treasure.”
“Enough, you two. Would you please listen to me?” Rob had somehow managed to be kneeling in front of us as we had our little freak-out moment without either of us noticing.
We both nodded.
“This is me, telling both of you that my treasure is you—not the dirty paper sitting in my bank accounts. If you don’t want contracts, so be it, but my dragon needs them to settle. Maybe I should have talked to you both about it first.”
“Maybe?” Sasha closed his eyes and shook his head as I rolled my eyes.
“Fine. I should have. But I’m new at this, too, you know. Think about it?” Big strong alpha dragon had such vulnerability in his eyes.
“It means that much to you?” The crack in Sasha’s voice just about did me in.
“It does.”
“Samuel?” Sasha squeezed my hand.
“Only if he promises not to keep making huge ass life decisions without us.”
“I do.” Rob hugged us both in an awkward pose thanks to our positions as Quimby cleared his throat behinds us, probably because, from his angle, he had an amazing view of Rob’s ass. Lucky bastard.
“So, are we signing these, gentleman?” Quimby asked as Rob turned around to face him.
“Yes indeedy.” Sasha grabbed a pen and signed before handing it to Rob to do the same and then eventually to me.
“Very well, gentleman. I will send you copies of all the legal stuff.”
“Stuff? Quimby, you have been my attorney for pretty much ever and I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say stuff.” Rob chuckled, his body relaxed slightly. I still wasn’t happy about the entire thing but seeing how happy it made the entire thing worth it.
“Honestly, it’s because you all need to leave. Those pregnancy hormones of yours are overwhelming my beast. He is kicking at me to go home and check on my mate.”
“Then we shall leave. Send all of the papers to the penthouse. We’ll be there at least for the night.” Rob took us both by the hand and led us out, Sasha and I both mumbling our goodbyes along the way.
“He has a cub on the way,” Rob said as the elevator opened and we climbed inside.
“I was guessing.” I waited for the door to close before plastering myself to my alphas. Getting away from the scent of those wretched cigars and back to the scent of my mates was exactly what I needed. “You know, you didn’t need to do that.”
“My dragon would disagree. Besides, I wanted to.” He kissed the top of my head.
“It was a dick move to spring it on us like that.” Sasha sounded less than pissed, even if his words were accurate.
“I know. Let me make it up to you both when we get back to the penthouse.”
My mind brought up a porn reel of all the things he could do to make it up to us. Holy heck I’d become creative since meeting these men.
“How so?” Sasha asked, his hand pressed between us and moving slowly downward just as the elevator dinged and opened. He’d had his hand so stinking close to where I wanted it, too.
“You will just have to wait and see.”
A few excuse mes brought the reality of us no longer being in the elevator alone into full view.
“Guys? I think this
is us,” I said as the lobby caught my eye.
“Well then, off we go.” Rob headed out, his arm around both of us, not giving a hoot if people needed to move out of the way to let us by.
We worked our way to the insanity that was his new car. I knew it was all prestigious or whatever, but I didn’t get it.
“You are not impressed with my new ride.” He kissed me soundly, swallowing my answer before opening the back door for me to climb in. He tossed the keys to Sasha, not that I was sure it even used keys. The thing was so stupid fancy. “Scooch over. I’ll show you what this bad boy can do.” He climbed in beside me before shutting the door.
“Wait,” Sasha called over the front seat. “If this is such a great car that doesn’t need a driver, why am I up front about to drive?”
He had a point, not that I’d be okay with all three of us in the back while the car was moving driverless.
“Because there is no way on this green earth I would be able to make our omega come if he thought he was about to die the entire time.”
I swore Rob rolled his eyes even if I couldn’t quite see them from the angle I was at.
“Why do you always have to be right?” Sasha scoffed before turning around and starting the car.
Rob turned to me, mischief in his eyes. Sexy, sexy dragon. “So, as I was saying, this car has many great features. For instance, you are currently sitting in a comfortable seat.” His hand settled on my knee, his scent deepening and my cock begging to be set free from my blasted jeans. I should just consign myself to wearing all sweat pants all the time around them so I didn’t get a permanent zipper imprint the length of my junk.
“It is.” That was about all I could muster as his fingers began climbing up my thigh.
“That’s not the best part, though,” Sasha called from the front seat. Why was he so freaking far away?
“No?” I bit out. Whatever direction he was leading us in, I was ready to go.
“No, the best part is the legroom.” Sasha pulled the car to a stop for a red light before turning back and pointing to the place in front of me. “I bet Rob could even fit in that spot right there. You know, if he wanted to.” He turned back around, the gar moving once again.
Rob climbed into the exact spot Sasha had pointed out, placing a hand on each of my knees. “Sasha, you are a brilliant, brilliant man. I fit perfectly. But, now that I am here, whatever shall I do?” He tapped his fingers like one normally would on a desk while waiting for something to upload to their computer.
“Hmm, if I was there, I would show you, but seeing as how I am driving, I best tell you what to do.”
I swallowed at the thought of Sasha commanding Rob to do something amazing. And it would be amazing, I was sure.
“You were always the thinker,” Rob sassed back. “So tell me, what should I do? Our omega looks very uncomfortable right now. It looks like we bought him jeans just a little bit too tight.” His hand came up, giving me pressure right where I needed it. No, that wasn’t what I needed. I needed more.
“Well then, you best open them up. Give him some room and possibly some air.”
Rob went straight to the task, setting my cock free right there in the middle of city traffic.
“But now everyone who drives by can see our omegas gift.” His finger swiped the pre-cum off the tip of my cock. The blasted dragon was going to have me coming before we hit the next light.
“Your point is valid. Best hide it. Possibly with your mouth?” Sasha turned left. How this conversation was allowing him to function enough to drive was beyond me. I barely knew my freaking name.
“Excellent idea.” Rob reached behind him and squeezed Sasha’s shoulder before turning back to face me and winking before lowering his mouth to my lap, giving me a lick before taking me into his mouth one inch at a time.
“Samuel?”
“Yes?” I squeaked out as Rob sucked in before picking his head up slowly.
“Did Rob do as I suggested? I can’t see from here while not getting us in an accident.”
“He…yes.” Was he really thinking I could form sentences with my alpha devouring me like that?
“Make sure he does that swirly thing he does with his tongue.”
Rob took Sasha’s words to heart and did the swirly thing all the way on his descent, causing me to groan in pleasure just as we stopped again, this time I didn’t even notice if there was anyone else on the side of us. I was lost in the world that was Rob’s mouth.
“You’re welcome.” Sasha laughed. “Fair warning, Rob. If you’re going to make him come before we get there, you have three more blocks.” A horn blared in the background. “If, however, you are trying to keep him on edge, you have three more blocks to not let him come.”
My head fell back, and my eyes closed. I didn’t even know which of those were the better option, not that I was sure I had any say in it.
Robs tongue did that thing again, and I found my hips moving of their own accord, needing more.
“Two block warning,” Sasha called back, liking this too much.
Rob took his warning to heart, his hand finding my balls as his head bobbed up and down, his tongue dancing along the way, and, just as Sasha called back the one block warning, Rob swallowed deeply, and my cum poured down his throat.
By the time we pulled into the parking garage, Rob had me back in my jeans and all zipped up.
“You were right,” I conceded. “Best. Car. Ever.”
Chapter Nineteen
Sasha
We stayed at Rob’s penthouse for three days—three days of non-stop loving and getting to know our mates away from all the dragon and Malinda and Bart bullshit. It was our honeymoon of sorts, holed up away from the world.
We had to go back sometime. No matter how much I wanted to stay here and worship my mates in more ways than one, the problems hovered in the back of my mind.
“Maybe it’s time for us to get back to reality.” I opened the conversation over breakfast. Rob had ordered in a feast of city food—crepes and eggs benedict—spoiling our omega and baby rotten just the way a solid alpha should. He did have an amazing cook, but with us rolling naked all over the place, he’d sent her on a trip to Hawaii. Just telling her not to come would have hurt her feelings…and he’d never do that.
Samuel and Rob both sighed. I reached across the table and put another serving of food on Samuel’s plate. He was far from full. I could smell the hunger on him. In the past couple of days, his pregnant scent had heightened. Our sexy, pregnant omega was practically a walking, talking cinnamon roll to us.
“There’s things to do, but fuck it all if I don’t want to stay here and ignore it for another three days or months.” He got up to put his plate in the sink and kissed Samuel on the forehead before winking at me.
Rob had gone soft in the best way possible.
“Malinda and Bart might kill each other if we don’t go back soon, and hell if I know what we are going to do with Emerson. Maybe she can go with another family. Plus, we need to find out when the next auction is before the dragons try to sell off more people like they’re cattle.”
Samuel shuddered in his seat. He was slowly coming to terms with everything that he’d been through as a child and as an adult. He sometimes woke screaming and breathless from the nightmares and could only be calmed by Rob and me reminding him of where he was and cuddling him back to sleep. We worried about the stress on the babe but were taking it day by day.
“It’s okay, Samuel. Eat up and let’s finish that movie for once.”
We’d introduced Samuel to Netflix and Hulu but somehow managed not to make it through a single movie without ending up knotted together on the couch or the bed…or in the kitchen.
Not even documentaries bored us enough not to get turned on.
We weren’t complaining, either.
Last night we’d made love to Samuel in the elevator on the way up to the penthouse simply talking about watching a movie. Good thing it was a private elevator
or someone would’ve been surprised on their way to the lobby.
“I’m beginning to think that movie is code word for sex. And while I love movies and everything that happens with them, I need a nap. All of this waking up and eating has made me tired—again.”
While our omega had no morning sickness, he was exhausted constantly. He fell asleep at Rob’s favorite restaurant, at the table. Then again, we were wearing him out just right.
“I’ll do the dishes. Go get comfy on the couch. We don’t want a cranky omega.” I took Samuel’s plate, which was almost as clean as before we’d eaten, and filled the sink with hot soapy water, smiling like a fool—a satisfied alpha smile, our omega full with belly and food, going to rest.
“Should we leave today?” Rob sidled up to me, grabbed a dishcloth, and started drying even though he had a state-of-the-art dishwasher.
“Fuck. Yes? No. Yes.”
We both chuckled. Rob leaned his head on my shoulder. “Look at him,” he whispered.
I glanced over my shoulder to see Samuel wearing my sweatshirt and Rob’s pajama pants, a blanket wrapped around his shoulders, and his hands cradling his stomach like it was the most precious possession in the world, already sound asleep.
“He’s adorable. Just fucking adorable.”
“And he’s ours.” Rob sighed.
“He is. Maybe we can go tomorrow. I need one more night with the both of you.”
He nodded. The lusty scent poured off him in waves. We hadn’t marked Samuel yet, and he hadn’t mentioned it since the night we first knotted him. Didn’t take it from our minds, though. There was nothing I needed to see more than Samuel wearing both our bites for the whole fucking world to see he belonged to us, and we to him.
“Hurry up. Let’s go cuddle him.”
I laughed at his sweetness. His exterior personified a badass mercenary who’d cut off your balls in a minute, and yet, here he was, adorable as fuck talking about cuddling our omega.
How things had changed.
“Done.” I tiptoe-raced him to the couch where we lifted a deep-sleeping Samuel onto our laps and grabbed the remote.
