“What can I say, Mom, except that he is incredible. A perfect gentleman when he needs to be and a man that has taken me and my body many places I’ve only dreamed of.” As I exhale, she is insistent on fine details. I smile and say “Our sex life is not one that can be described in words. It’s so out of this world, it has my toes curling in my stiletto heels right now. That should tell you everything right there. He takes the best care of me whether in good or bad health.”
She looks at me as tears begin to form in her eyes and says, “I’m ecstatic that you two have found each other. Might I add your father and I also share—
“Mom, stop, please I don’t want to hear about you and dad,” I interrupt.
“Angel, I was just going to say that we two share the same deep bond and love as Cooper and you do. I’m sure he will be one to keep you in tip top shape, in and out of the bedroom.” She kisses my cheek.
“I never said I love him, mom.”
“You didn’t have to, mother knows all.”
I can smell Cooper as the men enter the kitchen. Cooper is smiling, which is a reassuring sign. There is no better moment then right now. I take in the scene: my family around the man I love. Cooper looks more comfortable, so I’m at ease.
My dad comments on the aroma and says, “It sure does smell good in here. Cooper, could you please freshen up my Scotch?”
“My pleasure, Mr. Williams,” Cooper replies.
“Please call me Christopher,” my father quickly adds.
“Yes sir, Christopher.” Cooper smiles while walking back to the mini bar. I get up to check on dinner, as he returns from the living room. “Shall we toast?” Cooper asks as he hands the glass back to my father.
“I think that’s a wonderful idea,” my father says with a raise of his glass.
“What to?” My mother and I raise our wine glasses to meet theirs.
Cooper says, “Let us drink to love, which is nonexistent, unless it is shared by two.”
After I take a sip, I want to feel his lips, the toast is brilliant. It makes me think of my mother just saying that our love is like theirs. My heart is filled with joy. I guide him to the living room, out of sight of my parents and plant one on him. It is brought with all the feelings I have for him. He has no choice but to wrap his arms around my hips and kiss me back. We gaze at each other then head back to serve dinner.
I remove the chicken from the oven, it smells of Italian dressing and spices. It is moist with juices flowing out of it as I cut a small portion to make sure no pink resides. I’ve always been extra cautious cooking it because of all the things that can happen if it’s not cooked to completion. The stove top has a frying pan with freshly sliced potatoes that were fried with organic oil. The pot to the left is filled with green beans, flavored just like my mother taught me. The white rolls have already been placed in the center of the table. They are met with a glass holder which contains butter. The blue dishes are already on the table ready for the occupants to pick them up and dig in. I allow my parents to begin first as I fill the blue goblets of water. My mom seems impressed with my cooking skills and said everything looks wonderful.
My dad nods in agreement as he samples the potatoes. “Very good, Sweet Pea,” he says and sits down.
“If you think this is good, just wait until you see the raspberry swirl cheesecake I made from scratch last night.”
I giggle as Cooper collects both our plates so we can join our dinner party. Once are plates are loaded, we sit down. Gathering hands around the table, we thank the Lord for this food, and the nourishment it will provide to our bodies. “Amen,” we all say at the same time. The table gets quiet as everyone enjoys their meal. The chicken is tender and almost melts in the mouth. The seasoning has everyone licking their lips. Very soon, the blue on the plates can be seen again. We all lean back from fullness.
Everyone again compliments me on my menu selection this evening. I blush from all the attention. Cooper kisses me on the cheek, saying he will take care of the dishes if I’d like to offer my folks some coffee before dessert.
“Thanks, babe. Now do you see what I’m referring to mom?” I grin in her direction as I invite them in the living room for coffee.
“He is quite the gentleman, Carmen” my father says in meaningful voice. “I have no complaints. Yet, that is.” He starts to laugh.
“Oh Dad, you know I wouldn’t have even thought about settling down if I didn’t think the man would be worth it.” I hug him tightly.
Cooper comes in with coffee. He’s the most relaxed I’ve seen him all evening. “Would you like some coffee?” I ask him.
“No, thank you, don’t need any caffeine this late, I’ll be up all night,” he replies.
I think, Oh you’ll be up alright. His eyes are on me as if reading my dirty thoughts, and he shakes his head gently, as if to call me a naughty girl without words. Now is the perfect time to end the evening with my baked goods. I want to get my hand on his goods sooner, rather than later. I cut the cheesecake into four slices and serve them on white saucer plates with dark blue trim. Silence is all around the room, as everyone eats until the plates are clear of any crumbs.
“So what did you think?” I ask all of them as I collect the plates and forks. They say everything was delicious.
I hate to see my parents go, but at least they’ll be in town for a few more days. We thank them for coming to dinner, and they thank us for having them. My mom hugs Cooper and tells him how pleased she is to finally meet the man who has made her daughter happy. My dad squeezes me tight and extends his hand to Cooper and tells him it was a pleasure to meet him. Cooper waves them off and closes the door, giving me that look I’ve been waiting for all night.
My dress hits the hardwood floor. We never make it to the bedroom.
Chapter Eighteen
Halloween is here and the birthday boy is still sleeping. Watching him sleep has become one of my favorite activities. His lips are slightly parted and he always frowns when he doesn’t feel me against him. He is the love of my life, so why am I scared to tell him? Cooper starts waking up and those sexy eyes are on me.
“Happy Birthday,” I say.
He touches my face. “It is only happy because of you.”
Smiling I say, “Your party is going to be wonderful.”
It is evident he doesn’t believe me, and now it is time to tell him the unpleasant news. I’m hesitant as I don’t want to say anything to ruin his day but I also don’t want him to be blindsided either.
“There’s something I need to tell you”
He raises an eyebrow at my serious tone. A look of concern cast across his face.
“Your dad is coming…and he is bringing your mom.”
He instantly grips his head with both hands. His nostrils flare as his arms come down, his anger is apparent without him speaking a word. This is why I have avoided telling him.
“She knows that she is only being tolerated for your dad, it will be okay.”
Finally Cooper speaks, “That’s when she left.”
Confused by his statement, I say, “What?”
He closes his eyes, “She left on my birthday that is why I don’t celebrate.”
“Oh baby, I am so sorry. Why didn’t you tell me?” I reach for his hand.
Kissing my hand, he says, “My Carmen, you should know by now that I would do anything for you despite my discomfort.”
“You should have told me. We need to start making happy memories to take away that one.”
Pulling the covers down, I find Cooper’s penis and give him the best blow job ever.
“Babe, I have to go and meet my mom,” I yell from the shower. “We have to ensure that everything is perfect for tonight.”
Cooper enters the shower and kisses my shoulder. He presses his erected penis against my backside.
Jumping out of the shower, I sadly say, “No sir, no time for that.”
“My Carmen you can’t leave me like this.” Looking back at his pleasin
g cock, I shake my head and force myself to leave.
When I arrive at Hyatt, my mom is speaking to the manger. She is a lovely women and she knows it. Men are always checking her out, although she only has eyes for my dad. They met in college, and in those days, interracial dating was not the norm, like it is now. That didn’t stop them. He says she is the most exquisite women with her petite figure, minus the breast area, as those are anything but petite. She stands at 5’7, mostly all legs. Another asset I inherited from her. She keeps her hair short in a layered razor cut. Her natural color is dark brown, but she gets a few highlights in the front which does wonders in making her skin glow. Her skin is flawless, no wrinkles.
Taking care of her skin is one of her top priorities and she prides herself on that. Our eyes are the same hazel color. She is beauty at its best. My father knew he would marry her. According to my mom, she fell in love with daddy once he said hello. She says he was the sexiest man she had ever seen. Being a proper lady, she played hard to get, but she already had their wedding planned before the first date. My parents are strong individuals. They both lost friends because he is African American and she is Hispanic. In the end love conquered.
My mom spots me and says, “Angel, stop day dreaming.” She smiles. “Let’s go see our masterpiece.”
The room is enormous. Beautiful chandeliers are perfectly spaced in the middle of the room. Recessive lighting makes up the remainder of the ceiling. A simple black tablecloth with white webs going around the skirt is placed on every table. Black and orange tied-dyed roses are used as the centerpiece. Small crystal pumpkins are spread around the vase, each complete with its own orange tea light. The place setting has a solid black dinner plate with rhinestones marking the whole outer rim and there is medium sized plate on top. The outer circle is uniquely designed with orange and black skulls and spiders. A bowl with black and white stripes is directly above that. A decorative orange pumpkin is found in every bowl.
The silverware is placed to the right, and an orange napkin held together by vampire fangs is placed to the left. My mother is a creative genius. Cooper is going to love this. The tables designated to hold the food are located at the back of the room. A wet bar is placed conveniently at the end of the buffet. Fancy glass jars in the shape of ghosts are located on each side of the bar. One is filled with candy corn, the other with mini pumpkins. A dance floor made of wood is to the left where the DJ will mix the hottest jams. A smaller square shape table is located to the right as the entrance. It is covered with a black and orange chevron pattern tablecloth. There are two balloons with the same colors taped to every edge. A single wrapped gift with a gold bow sets atop of it; I know it’s from my parents, since the party hasn’t begun yet.
“Mom, this is amazing,” I say, unable to control my smiling.
“Well I knew you would love it, I sure hope Cooper does.” She sighs.
“He will Mom, I just know it. How about we hit the bar for a much deserved drink?”
“That would be a real treat, Carmen. Please lead the way.”
I order for us both.
“A glass of chardonnay for her, and a dirty martini for me, extra olives please,” I say without taking a breath in a between.
“My little girl has grown dirty on me, huh?” My mom bats her eyes.
“No mother, you are the dirty one, not I.” I laugh.
“That’s the key to a successful marriage.”
Our drinks arrive, and I down mine quickly. I want to check in the room, and then check on my birthday boy. I can’t wait to see him.
“Wow, you drank that like a lush,” my mom chuckles.
“Well duty calls,” I say. “I must check in and then see when my birthday boy will be arriving.” I beam then place a $20.00 bill on the counter to cover our drinks.
“Is my daughter horny? Rushing to leave me at the bar, it’s shameful.”
“Oh mother, I’m not rushing, I just have an agenda.”
I walk to the counter at the lobby, and realize the reservations are under “Jackson.”
The gentleman at check in asks for the last name, I say “Jackson.”
He says “I have a reservation for a king suite under the name of Jackson/Williams. Is that the correct one?”
“Yes,” I reply, before panicking about not being able to get the key. Cooper never lets me down, he thinks of everything.
He hands me a key to the room, and ask if I need help with my bags.
“No thanks,” I call as I rush towards the elevator. I step in once it arrives, and hit the number 13. I am on my way up to suite 1307.
It is like heaven inside. The king size bed is luxurious with soft blankets, and lots of pillows. Cooper must have put in a special request because usually only two pillows come to a bed, and there six here. Reaching in my bag I retrieve my phone.
Me: Hey birthday boy. We are in suite 1307. Hurry up and get here.
After pressing send, I dial Marcia to confirm her attendance for the evening.
On the second ring she picks up and says, “Guess who got invited to a Halloween party as someone’s date?”
“Hmm, let me think. Could it be you?” I say sarcastically.
“Duh, of course it’s me, why else would I be so excited if it was someone else?”
“So does that mean you’re not coming to Cooper’s birthday bash tonight?”
“Of course I am silly; I’m just coming with David, that’s all.”
“Oh, you are going with David. Nice. Remember it starts at 8, so no seducing David.”
“I will make no promises, especially since my costume is my birthday suite.”
“Marcia, please wear clothes.” Marcia laughs and ends the call.
Giselle texts me and lets me know she will be coming to the party solo.
Still no response from Cooper.
Chapter Nineteen
I must have dozed off, because when I open my eyes again, Cooper stands before me, looking gorgeous. “When did you get here? Why didn’t you wake me?” I ask.
“A few minutes ago,” he says. “I couldn’t resist watching you sleep. You are so beautiful.”
I get out of the bed and put on the terry cloth robe, that the hotel provides, but Cooper stops me. “You denied me earlier, now I am going to take what’s mine.”
He lifts me and removes the robe, tossing it on the floor. In seconds he has me completely naked. Time isn’t a factor as I give myself to him. Cooper and I always use protection, even though I am on birth control. We have been tested and our results show that we are healthy individuals. He has never asks why we continue to use them. For me, using nothing will make things more serious between us. That is what people do who are in love and he hasn’t said those words and neither have I.
Cooper abruptly stops, looks deep into my eyes and says, “I love you, my Carmen.” He kisses me tenderly.
This is the first time we don’t use protection. After making love we start getting ready for the party. Cooper seems happy as he hums to Aw Naw, by Chris Young. Hearing the words I love you should bring me joy, but it hasn’t. I feel weird and I didn’t have the courage to say it back. What is wrong with me? He is staring at me, please don’t say it again. Instead he leaves the bathroom and calls for me to come into the sitting area. He holds a turquoise box with a white bow-it’s from Tiffany & Co.
“What’s this?”
“A gift for you.” He hands the box to me, “Open it.”
“You bought me a gift, on your birthday? After you insisted that I didn’t buy you one?”
“My Carmen, you are the best present I will ever receive, now open it.”
Carefully removing the bow, I slowly open my gift. There is an expensive platinum bangle, with a heart lock that is used to fasten it. Under the bracelet I find a red card, I pick it up to see a personalized message:
For the woman who unlocked my heart –Cooper
“I love it. Thank you Cooper.” He puts the bracelet on me and kisses my temple. We fini
sh getting ready.
I search my many bags for Cooper’s gift. The shiny silver paper with the wording “Happy Birthday” shouldn’t be hard to miss. I place it strategically behind my back as he is about to exit the bathroom from a quick shower. I stand there patiently waiting in my black satin bra with sequins that outline my cleavage, and my fishnet hose that is part of my costume. No underwear involved. The fish nets make my legs look even more desirable than before. I’ll be lucky if I can keep him from snatching them off of me to take what’s underneath.
The door handle turns, and out comes Cooper in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. From my past experience I know he has quite the package, much better than the one I’m trying to hide. I bite my lower lip and within a blink of an eye, he gawks at my appearance.
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack, gorgeous? You look good enough to eat.” MMM he says as he strides my way.
“No, no Mr. Jackson, I would not, especially with you being an old man. There is something I would like to give you now.” I slip the present to the front of me.
He looks at it, intrigued. “Old man? You weren’t saying that earlier. I thought I told you not to get me anything, you’re all I could ever need.”
I’m so nervous, I’m blushing. “It’s your special day; I wanted to make sure it is the best one yet.”
As he comes closer, he says. “You’ve already made it the best, just being here with me.”
The package slides from my hands to his, and he kisses me sweetly. He opens it to find a stainless steel watch with a Sapphire dial designed by Gucci.
He is shocked. “Look on the inside,” I say shyly. My hands are a little shaky as he flips the watch over, a tear forms in his eye. He reads the inscription:
Time stands still with you. –Your Carmen
“My Carmen, that was very thoughtful of you. Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more, you prove me wrong.” He kisses me with more passion this time. I motion for the watch so I can see how it looks on my man. “It’s a perfect fit,” I say, closing the clasp.
