Meeka's Reluctant Mates [Beckett's Wolf Pack, Triad Mates 5] (Siren Publishing Ménage and More) Page 40

by Lynnette Bernard

  “Baby, we’re sorry,” Wade began.

“I know, and I’ve accepted your apology,” Meeka said, stopping him. “I understand why you both were afraid. You had valid reasons. I know you were both worried about hurting me. But that doesn’t apply anymore. Drew said you’re both fine. You have been for a while.”

She sighed and wished she could somehow make them understand that they needed to let the past go. She had. She was completely happy. She loved their life together. She loved the children that they had. She loved her men. She just wished they would forgive themselves and accept the beauty of what they now had as a blessed triad.

“Mother Fate said we needed to be apart so we could all come to understand just how much we meant to each other,” Meeka reminded them. “She also said that there were triads waiting for us to help them come together. Look at Kaley. Look at Cammy. They wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t come to find me.”

Both men nodded, knowing that what Meeka said was true but unable to release the guilt that they still carried. Before they could say anything more, their daughter’s cries broke the silence.

“I’ll get her,” Wade offered, removing himself from their bed and leaving their bedroom to go to their daughter’s nursery.

Meeka sat up and leaned against the headboard with a pillow behind her to cushion her back. Untying the peach ties of her nursing nightgown, she pushed aside the soft material and exposed her left breast, knowing that Reece watched her hungrily.

“Beautiful,” he whispered as she accepted their daughter from Wade and gave her her breast. Maizy latched on immediately and began suckling. He carefully placed a pillow beneath Meeka’s elbow to help hold Maizy comfortably against her breast. “No matter how many times I watch you nurse her, I’m amazed by the miracle of your body.”

His voice was soft as he spoke, making Meeka smile at his words. She looked up at him with obvious love in her eyes then turned to Wade and melted at the tender expression he gave her.

“When I finish nursing Maizy, it’s your turn,” she told them both, smiling at the growls that left them at her words.

Wade took Maizy from her when their daughter finished nursing. He settled a cloth diaper on his shoulder and placed her gently against it, patting her back lightly to get her to burp.

“Reece, I have some milk on my breast,” Meeka told him, smiling when she saw the way his blue eyes flashed golden as he looked down at the dribble of milk that surrounded her nipple.

Leaning forward, Reece lapped up the delicious sweetness, humming happily against her. When he covered her nipple and carefully drew it into his mouth to draw on it with a tender sucking motion, she couldn’t help but sigh with happiness. Leaning back against her pillow, she threaded her fingers through his long, black hair and held him against her firmly. She loved when he drank from her.

She looked at Wade and melted at the sight of him taking care of their daughter. She looked so incredibly tiny within his arms and was resting so trustingly against his broad, muscled chest.

When their little girl let out the most adorable little burp, Wade smiled widely as if he had just accomplished the greatest feat in the world. Meeka winked at him and was rewarded with a growl and a flash of his golden eyes.

“Delicious,” Reece whispered, giving one final lick to Meeka’s nipple before pulling her nightgown back in place. He turned to face Wade and reached out to take their daughter from him.

Wade released Maizy into Reece’s care before taking his place beside Meeka and brushing aside her nightgown to expose her right breast. Leaning forward, he circled her nipple with the tip of his tongue before drawing it into his mouth and sucking deeply.

Meeka closed her eyes and relaxed against the pillow, slowly caressing Wade’s shoulder as he drew her milk from her body. The closeness of the act never ceased to amaze her. She was so happy that her men enjoyed being fathers. She adored the way they took care of and loved Eric and Maizy. She absolutely loved that their intimacy continued, escalating with each day and making her desire them more with each tender caress, each kind word, and each loving gesture.

Wade pulled back slightly and smiled up at her. She laughed softly. This bond thing really made things too easy for her men to know everything she was thinking and feeling. Maybe she needed to shield them more. Maybe she needed to be a little more mysterious.

Don’t you dare! Wade said, growling angrily in her head.

Our hearts can’t take the separation from you, Mate, Reece added.

She looked up at him and saw the puppy dog sadness on his face. She couldn’t stand it.

  “Wolf, baby,” Wade corrected her.

Meeka laughed as she reached out to take both men’s hands in hers to kiss their knuckles lightly before releasing her hold on them. She felt their worry and didn’t want to ever be the cause of it again.

“I’m sorry. I won’t shield you from my thoughts. I promise.”

“We need you in our hearts all the time,” Wade explained as he drew her nightgown across her breast to cover it despite his desire to see her displayed so beautifully before him.

Meeka waited while Wade tied her nightgown closed, smiling down at him as he did what she knew he didn’t want to do. “You know, you can’t keep me naked all the time, Wade,” she told him, laughing softly.

  “Why not? Naked is good.”

Meeka just laughed as she leaned forward and kissed Wade’s lips lightly. “Yes, it is,” she whispered against his mouth.

The bedroom door opened and Eric ran in, jumping up onto the bed and carefully climbing between them to sit on Meeka’s lap. He was carrying three stuffed animals. One was a little penguin that Eli and Maxwell had given to Maizy. The second was a wolf pup with black fur that Simon and Warren had given her.

Since Maizy had black hair, everyone in the pack was certain that her wolf form would contain black fur. Meeka often thought about her two children shifting when they reached puberty. It was a miracle that made her a little nervous, but she was also excited by the fact that they were part of such a miraculous blessing.

Meeka was so relieved that Maxwell, Simon, and Warren had fully recovered from the injuries that they had received at the hands of Ethan Webber. Despite her apologies, all of the men had denied her words. They had convinced her that she had not been responsible for the actions of the dishonorable wolf. It had taken some time, but Meeka had come to accept that she was not to blame. She had finally been able to put aside Ethan and the part of her life that had given her such pain.

She had a wonderful life with wonderful mates now. She had two children that she absolutely cherished. What could be better than that?

Eric hugged the final stuffed animal to his chest, a white rabbit that his Aunt Suzie had given him. He smiled as Reece placed his baby sister into his mother’s arms.

Meeka knew that Eric loved sitting on her lap and watching Maizy. It was wonderful the way he loved his little sister.

“She’s cute, Mommy,” he said sweetly.

“Almost as cute as your stuffed bunny?” Meeka teased.

“Oh, Mommy, Maizy is beautiful,” Eric told her seriously.

“I think our rabbit is beautiful, too,” Wade said, reaching up and touching the tip of Meeka’s nose.

  “Wade,” Meeka whispered, blushing brightly.

“What, baby? Don’t you like being our little rabbit?” Wade asked her, his gray eyes warm with the love that he felt for her.

“Yes, I love being your rabbit,” Meeka admitted.

“The big bad wolves don’t frighten our scared little rabbit anymore?” Reece teased her.

“Not one bit,” Meeka whispered. “My wolves are tender and loving mates, even if they were reluctant ones.”

“Reluctant but smart,” Wade told her, leaning forward to kiss her lips lightly.

“Smart?” Meeka looked at Wade, not sure where he was going with that comment.

“I would say brilliant,” Reece added.

  “Bri
lliant?” Meeka asked, laughing.

“I would go so far as to say genius,” Wade said quickly, loving when Meeka giggled.

  “Genius, huh?”

  “Absolutely,” Wade said firmly.

“How do you figure that, Wade?” Meeka asked, cuddling Maizy and Eric closer against her as they shared her lap.

“We were genius enough to realize how stupid we were for denying the most precious gift that was ever given to us,” Wade told her softly, reaching out and touching her face before caressing both Eric’s and Maizy’s cheeks lightly.

“You’re our gift, Meeka,” Reece added quietly. “And Eric and Maizy are our miracles.”

Meeka blinked rapidly to keep her tears at bay. She looked at her mates and her children and realized that they were the best gifts that she had ever received, too.

  “Eric?”

  “What, Mommy?”

“Your fathers are the smartest people,” she told him softly.

“No, Mommy. They’re not the smartest people,” Eric said, shaking his head firmly.

“They’re not?” Meeka asked, stunned by his words.

“No. They’re the smartest wolves,” Eric corrected her. “And they belong to us.”

Meeka laughed softly as she hugged their little boy. She looked at her men and smiled at the happiness that she saw on their faces.

  “You’re right, baby. They do.”
