Although she was in some physical discomfort, Tina could not hold back her feeling of gratitude. Amidst the tears streaming down her face, her smile was also prevalent. The emotion was caused by what Coco had done. She reached out and grabbed the hand of her best friend.
Kim sat next to the hospital bed, beaming like a city lamppost giving light to weary travelers in a dense fog of bad memories. Her smile cleared the deluge of underlying feelings that once clogged the relationship with the talented teen. They smiled triumphantly, sahring her success while watching the entertainment channel.
“Shyt ho! I told you Coco would shout your ass out. She and Deedee look really fly up there on TV!” Kim said, and Tina nodded in appreciation. “Hurry up and feel better soon, bitch. We gotta go catch that flick before everyone else sees it. Your ho ass already made me miss the red carpet. We don’t wanna be the last one to see Angels At The Gate, bitch!” Kim said, tears of joy streaming down her face.
She felt Tina’s grip tightened on her hand, and Kim smiled, looking at her. Then they continued watching the live interview and broadcast.
“Coco, what would you like the public and your fans to take away from all this?”
“I just want everyone to be inspired, and to know that sometimes things may seem difficult, and may not always go your way. No matter what’s thrown your way, just keep believing in yourself. Keep doing your thing, cause anything’s possible. Sky’s the limit… Frank White said that, yo.” Coco answered with a soft smile.
The talented teen had grown up, and moved on. She was able to put her past behind her. She flashed a wink at Deedee and Sophia. They were standing in a corner watching, and pumping their fists. Coco stopped to pose for the paparazzi. She smiled elatedly as camera bulbs continued flashing. Then she walked away to join Deedee and Sophia.
“You did it, Coco,” Sophia said.
“Yes, you most certainly did,” Deedee said.
“No, we did it,” Coco said, wrapping Sophia and Deedee’s hands in her own.
Coco had come of age, and was well on her way to becoming a star. Later, there was nothing but smiles as they all walked proudly inside the theater to watch the film.
