The room erupted, everyone shouting, but maybe half the room clapped and cheered. It was a start.
Kane and Dad both held their hands up. "I’m not done," Dad said. "I’m stepping down as High Alpha." The lycans in the room erupted again, shouting questions. They really loved him.
"Calm down," he said with a laugh. "I’m not going anywhere." They stilled and listened again. "I’ve fallen in love."
The women’s faces changed, softening and smiling. The men looked bored, and a few rolled their eyes. "I want to enjoy the time I have left. I’ve got half my life still ahead of me. I want to spend that time with Sissy, and hopefully soon enjoy some grandchildren."
The crowd applauded again, even several of the vampires. Even they’d heard about what a good leader he was. He deserved a retirement.
"Most of them probably want to see you pregnant," Quin whispered in my ear.
I hadn’t even considered that might be why they were clapping. Damn it.
