Family isn’t always the picture perfect image of Mum, Dad, two point three kids, and a dog on the floor. It took me a long time to accept that, and even longer to understand that it really was okay.

For my family, Mum and Dad. You guys stood by me while I figured it all out, even though it took way too long. You didn’t judge and you always loved me. Thank you for being there and hanging in there for me. You’re the best parents a girl could have. I love you both.

Nerilee & Jay—thank you for sharing the most precious thing in your life with me—your incredible crazy daughter, Piper. Even though we don’t say it out loud, I know you go out of your way to include me in her life in an amazing way. I love you and appreciate it more than you could imagine.

Karenya and Simon—you guys are amazing and inspirational. Your determination to take life by the balls and not let anyone or anything stand in your way in truly inspiring.

To my amazing book family—Kathryn, Belle, Jodi, Allie, Becca, Brooke, Mel, Lizzie. You ladies keep me grounded and help me pick up the pieces when I fall apart. Without you in my life, I can promise you I wouldn’t be still doing this.

  And Robert.

You’re my family. You’re the one person in my life who’ll tell me how it is, hold me when I cry, and reassure me that no matter what decision I make, it’s always the right one. You’re my best friend, my husband, and the one person in the world who knows, understands, and accepts me without question or hesitation. Thank you. I love you.

  About the Author

Rebecca, one of four kids to her parents who are both primary school teachers, was born in Wollongong on the south coast of Australia before moving to the country with her family. After a few years of embracing all that country life had to offer, the family relocated to Port Macquarie with its white sand beaches. After a brief period enjoying the sun and the surf they finally settled in Canberra where Rebecca still lives today. But all through her childhood a notepad and a book where never far away. These days Rebecca is an avid reader, and when she isn’t buried in a book or cheering on her beloved football team she’s spending time with her husband Robert and their overly spoilt dog Levi.
