  “We still have a problem.”

“What kinda problem and why should we trust you?” Omari butted in.

“Listen, you may not agree with what I done—”

“Fuck no we don’t agree because what you did was selfish as fuck, you left us in the fucking blind. How we know that wasn’t yo’ plan all along?” Kayson cut me off.

“I know you upset so I’ma let that bullshit you spitting go, but you know better than that shit. Everything I did was for y’all. I could’ve run and never looked back, but I risked my freedom to make sure y’all were good, so don’t ever fucking come at me like that again.”

“Ain’t nobody trying to hear that shit.” Kayson waved me off.

“Like I was saying.” I ignored his attitude because I could tell that he was in his feelings and I would have to smooth that shit out later. “Krista and Perry gotta go, we can’t leave them breathing.”

  “Where they at?” Jaako asked.

“They were in Michigan, but they got wind that her mom's got murked.” Tate smiled.

  “That was y’all?” Omari asked.

“Not exactly,” I answered nonchalantly. The women were in attendance, and I didn’t want to get them any more involved than I had to. “Conversation for another time.”

“So, where the fuck they at?” Jaako asked.

“My P.I. is looking for them now and when I have something I’ll let you know, and we can handle that.” I let them know. “I’m glad y’all home, I know y’all fucked up about how some things went down, but I’m here if you got any questions.” I looked around, and no one said anything but Kayson.

“I just want you out of my house.” He turned and headed up the stairs with his boys.

I walked over to the table to hug my sister, but she remained seated. I grabbed her hand, and she let me stand her up. It was like she was in some kind of daze. She stood to her feet and just stared at me in the face. Then it was like she snapped because she balled up her little fist and started punching me all in the face and chest area. For a while I just let her have her way, I felt like I owed her that. I knew she was hurting.

“Ann, chill sis.” She collapsed onto my chest and just cried. I held her while she got that out. I knew this wasn’t the end of the conversation with her.

Once I got her calm, I hugged her and kissed her on the head and left the house as Kayson requested. I knew this wasn’t gonna be easy, although I wasn’t expecting to be put the hell out. It was gonna take time for everything I told them to sink in. I just hoped that when it did, they understood why I had to do what I had to do. I was tired, and over it so I headed home to crawl up under Sharon and relieve some of this tension I had built up.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Agent Milgram

I sat in my basement with a bottle of Scotch, drinking all my sorrows away. I can’t believe that I got fired and charged with obstruction of justice all in the same day. That fucking ADA promised that it wasn’t the last of the charges; he just needed to get evidence on the rest. The judge I used all the money we had in savings to pay off, was next on the list and I was sure that he was gonna throw me under the bus. To top it all off, Chelsey was gone, and I was stuck with my bitch of a wife.

It was only a matter of time before she found out that I was fired. I knew one of her messy ass friends was surely gonna tell her. And when they did she will go digging in the financials and realize that I used all the money that we had on getting the Barnes Brothers locked away, only for it to backfire.

I was still trying to get in contact with Krista and Perry; they left me hanging after I stuck my neck out for them on that murder charge which is also gonna come back and bite me in the ass. I needed to find him so that I could arrest him for that. As soon as the thought left my head, I realized that I couldn’t arrest any got damn body because I was no longer anything that dealt with the judicial system.

The Barnes name was like a plague in my life, they ruined everything that they came in contact with, but I was determined to make them pay. Each and every one of them. I was gonna make their lives hell. If I couldn’t see them in jail, then I was gonna make them wish that they were dead. I had the perfect plan too, I just needed to make sure that I could carry that shit out with no problems and with my life.

“Fredrick!” My wife Tina called out. The mere sound of her voice irked the hell out of me.

  “What Tina!”

“What the fuck is Tracy talking about you got fired for tampering with evidence?”

“I don’t know what she’s talking about Tina; I got work tomorrow.” I lied. I wasn’t in the mood to go there with her, so I threw something out there to shut her up. I heard her relaying what I said, and then I heard her shriek. I took the stairs two at a time to the living room to see what she was screaming about. “What the hell is wrong with you?” My words trailed off as I watched my picture flash across the screen. The news had already caught the story about the corrupt cop that trumped up evidence on a case. They talked about how they were gonna go back through all the cases that I had anything to do with to see if I had done this before.

“How could you do this to me, Fredrick?”

“To you, how in the hell does this have anything to do with you?”

“I’m gonna be the laughing stock of the fucking town.” She yelled in my face, with her breath smelling like stale Newports.

“Everything that’s going on and all you can think about how you look to your friends?”

“I should have listened to my father when he told me to never marry your ass.”

“Yeah I wished you would have listened too.”

“Oh go to hell, I’m leaving you. I’m heading to the bank to clean out the account, and I’m out of here.”

“Bye!” Was all I said. Normally I would contest to her little temper tantrums, but right now I wasn’t with it. I just needed to find a way to get my life back on track, and she wasn’t any help. I didn’t love her anyway, so the fact that she wants to leave is quite alright with me.

“Ugggghhhh!” She screamed and stomped off.

I went back downstairs and waited for her to leave so I could pack a bag and get out of there before she got back from the bank and realized that there was no money to get out. She was going to be livid, but hell it ain’t like she earned any of that money. All she did was stay home and spend. Thank goodness I had a little stash down in the basement, I was gonna use it to show them that the Barnes brothers were as dirty as they come and possibly get my credentials back.

I picked up the phone and dialed Perry and Krista back to back with no luck. I was going to catch up with them sooner or later, and they were gonna pay for causing me the case.

  Chapter Seventeen

  Omari

I was numb right now. How in the fuck is this nigga alive and kicking and he supposed to be dead and shit? I wasn’t getting that; it didn’t really matter what he said or how much he tried to explain that what he did was for us. I just couldn’t grasp how he had been lying to us for as long as he did. Fuck that.

“You wanna talk about it?” Zemia asked.

“Nah I’m good, I wanna talk about us.” She still wasn’t fucking with me like that.

I had been home for like two weeks, and I had yet to get a kiss or any kind of intimacy. I knew she was mad but got damn she hadn’t been able to be this close to me for almost a year, you would think that she would let all that bullshit go and embrace the kid.

“What about us?” She asked looking down at me. She was sitting Indian style on the bed with her back against the headboard watching ratchet TV and I was laying at the foot of the bed just staring at her.

“I want us to stop this shit, I miss you and I miss us.” I semi whined and she smiled for the first time in a while.

“I miss you too Omari, but I just don’t know if—” her words trailed off and she looked down at her phone and then glanced at me and then cleared the call. That shit pissed me off. I knew I didn’t have any righ
t to be mad or in her shit but I didn’t like that.

“Why you didn’t answer the phone?”

“Because we were having a conversation and it was about work, and I can call him back later.”

“Who is him?” I narrowed my eyes at her.

“Josh, my new boss Omari.” She rolled her eyes.

“I didn’t know you had a new boss.” She giggled. “What’s funny?”

“Well maybe if you wouldn’t have been busy sticking yo’ dick in the jailhouse help, you would’ve known that the reason I have a new boss is because I got a promotion.” Her words dripped with venom and stung a little.

  “Aight, aight, just chill.”

“No you chill, don’t be sitting here trying to make me out to be the bad person because your conscience is fucking with you.”

“I was just trying to see what you had going on, that’s all.” I tried to reason with her, and she saw straight through the bullshit. I knew I had been gone for a while and I was fucking up while I was locked up, so I wanted to make sure she wasn’t on no revenge type shit and she knew it.

“Even after you fucked me over I still stuck by ya side, so you don’t get to question my loyalty, Omari,” She pointed her finger at me. “But you do have to prove yours. Any more questions?” She said and hopped off the bed.

That’s kind of how our conversations had been the last few times. I start out asking about us and somehow we end up arguing and fighting like we don’t know each other. I just want my baby back, that’s all I want. Just to hold her in my arms and to hear her say that she loves me is all I want. I couldn’t blame anyone but myself, and it’s up to me to make the shit right. So I climbed out of bed to go and find her so that we could talk.

Normally with situations like this I would just go on about my business and find another, but there was no one out there like Zemia. The way this woman made me feel was indescribable, and I wanted to make sure that I had this forever. I didn’t see anyone else out there for me. I loved her, and my black ass was gonna make this right if it was the last thing I did.

I found her on the counter in the kitchen eating cookies. I walked over and wedged myself in between her legs and laid my head on her stomach.

“I’m so sorry for all the pain that I’ve caused you. You mean everything to me, and I did some fucked up shit, even though I thought I was helping our situation I didnt, I made it worse. I ended up hurting you instead, and that was the last thing that I wanted to do.” I paused when I felt a tear hit the side of my face. I looked up, and she had a face full of them. I took my thumbs and wiped them away only for a new batch to come down. “I will never for as long as I live make you feel like you are feeling right now. You were right; I have to prove my loyalty to you because I broke that trust and I promise that I will spend forever doing that.” I kissed her cookie crumb lips, and for the first time since I been home she let me and didn’t pull away.

I ran my hands through her curly hair; she had finally taken out them braid shits and was rocking her beautiful wild hair that I loved so much. I grabbed her face and looked directly into her eyes. I wasn’t one of them sentimental type niggas, but right now my girl needed that, and I was gonna make sure she had it.

“I love you with everything in me Zemia, and there is no one else in this world that I would rather be with, in any shape or form. I broke our trust, but please baby give me a chance to make this right.” I looked into her eyes, and at first, she didn’t say anything, and I was holding my breath because there was no way in hell that I was about to let her be with anybody else, she could forget that. I would stalk her ass and kill any nigga that ever tried to replace me.

“Omari if you hurt me again, I’m done. I’m not one of these bitches out here that need a man, or that will allow one to walk all over me. I know what I deserve, and I demand that shit and you of all people should know that.” I nodded in agreement. “This is your one fuck up. I won’t count the little bitch at the hospital because we weren’t together, but if you do this shit again, I’m gone for good, and I don’t care how much it will hurt me.”

  “Baby I know—”

“No, I’m talking.” She cut me off, and I shut my damn mouth and listened to what she had to say. “If you don’t think you can be what I need, I want you to walk away now. It’s gotta be just us, no one else. I’m not about to be sitting around wondering where you are or what you’re doing because I ain’t built that way. I ain’t the one to be checking phones and social media either because I ain’t got time for it. So, if this is what you want, get your shit together.”

“Who the fuck you bossin up on, Zemia?” I stared intently into her eyes, and she didn’t waver. So I guess I got my answer, and I was okay with it. What she said was true, and the shit had my dick hard. “In all seriousness, I got you. You ain’t got shit to worry about. We about to get married and have a house full of chaps.” I smiled, and she smiled back.

“I’m not trying to do all of that now.”

“You ain’t got no choice woman.” I kissed her again, this time adding a little tongue action and she reciprocated.

I pulled her closer to me so I could deepen the kiss and she put her hands on my chest as if she was about to stop me. I slapped them shits right on down and with one swift motion had her little ass pajama shorts to the side and my dick at her opening. She was dripping wet, so I knew that she needed this just as bad as I did. I needed to feel that connection with her. I wanted to get my nut, but this right here was more for the emotional side of shit. Never thought I’d admit no shit like that, but it was true.

“Ssssssssss.” She hissed as I eased my way in her tight tunnel little by little. I knew she hadn’t been with anyone else with how tight she was. It was like she was a virgin all over again and I was loving it. There was no way that I would ever fuck this up. “Ummmmmm,” she moaned and started matching my thrust.

“I missed you, baby,” I whispered in her ear. “I love you.”

I moved my hips in a circular motion at a slow and steady pace. I wanted her to feel every inch and every stroke that I had to offer her. My dick was covered in her juices, and that shit motivated me to do more. I scooped her legs in the crease of my arms and pulled her ass to the very edge of the counter so I could get better access. She rested her weight on her arms, and I went to work pounding away at her juicy pussy.

“Fuck, baby,” I yelled out tucking my bottom lip between my teeth and lightly biting down.

“This feels so good.” She cried out with her head thrown back.

“Fuck yeah it do, and this shit all mine.”

“Oh oh ummm ah ssss yeah,” she moaned right before her legs started shaking and her pussy muscles started to choke my shit.

I hit her with slow strokes until she got her shit together. Then I helped her sit up with my dick still inside her and wrapped her arms around my neck. I lifted her and carried her to the bedroom. For what I wanted to do to her I needed space, and the kitchen counter wasn’t allowing me to do what I needed to do. I laid her down on the bed softly and looked into her eyes.

“I wanna make another baby tonight.” I had been thinking about that from the minute we got out, but I never got to say anything to her about it because we been at each other’s throat. “Can I do that?”

She let two tears drop down her face, and I wiped them up quickly, she gave me a slight nod, and I bit my lip and started working on my junior.

  Chapter Eighteen

  Krista

Since finding out I was pregnant, things with Perry and I had been pretty good. After we left that night, we drove and drove until we ended up in Phoenix, Arizona. Perry claimed he had connections there. I hoped like hell he did because I didn’t know how long this money he had was gonna last. I looked down at my phone and noticed that Milgram was calling for the millionth time. I didn’t know what he wanted, but I didn’t really give a fuck.

If Perry knew I still had this phone, he would throw a fucking hissy. I just couldn’t ge
t rid of it knowing that I used to talk to my mother on it, in a sense that was the only thing I had left of her. I didn’t use it or anything, but I did have a few voice mails from my mom that I like to go back and listen to from time to time.

I missed her something serious. She could be a handful at times, but I knew her, so I knew that everything she did was coming from somewhat of a good place, well sometimes anyway. I just wish that I could hear her voice just once more.

“Hey, how you feeling today?” Perry asked coming into the little ass apartment that he rented for us.

“The morning sickness is kicking my ass, but it’s to be expected. How are you?” I asked as he walked over and kissed me. If I would have known that all I had to do was get knocked up again to get his ass to act like he liked me, then I would have done it again a while ago. At least now I could get whatever the hell I wanted out of him without having to get on my knees.

“Well, that’s normal,” he rubbed my stomach.

“How are things out there?” I asked again because he ignored me when I asked how he was.

“It’s coming along, shit ain’t gonna be easy, hell we knew that, but I think I found a cool ass nigga to hook me up so I can make us some money,” he said nonchalantly, and I didn’t believe him. I felt like he was saying that so I wouldn’t worry. “I like it out here though; the people are friendly as fuck.”

“They are.” I agreed because they were. We had only been out here a few weeks, and I had met a few girls in the neighborhood that I would sit out on the stoop with and chill while Perry worked.

“Now all we need to do is set up shop, and this will be home.” He smiled but hearing him saying the word home made me sad a little. “I’m sorry, baby.” He grabbed my hand.

“It’s okay, I just miss her, that’s all.”
