Although these totem carvings were only constituents that comprised the bigger pictures of the totem patterns, when they all came together, a marvelous reaction occur to manifest the Monster God Ming King’s exceptionally powerful body and incredible strength!
If I were to add in the Sui Sovereign third eye totem carvings, then it would be 127 totem carvings!
Zhong Yue thought to himself, Even the prologue is already so complex, no wonder it was deemed an art that was on par with the【Great Boundless Sword Qi】. With the Sui Sovereign’s third eye totem carvings, it’ll be much easier for me to study and cast the art contained in this prologue. This monster saint city lord’s purpose of choosing a disciple was most probably to absorb the fortes of different techniques to hopefully find a path for himself to extricate himself from the flaw of his art.Hence, when I cast the Ming King skill, I must be careful to not reveal the third eye totem carvings!
The god-level totem pattern contained an abstrusity that was nearly incomprehensible. Every monster Qi Practitioners on the spot, including the experts that accompanied their masters over, were also intently studying the stone wall by themselves.
But the technique itself was already incomplete, and the totem carvings were also undergoing multitudinous transformations that hindered their efforts in elucidating the abstrusity. A split second of inattentiveness and their brains would become deluged and clogged with blood essence Hence, the Awakening experts exercised caution and settled for shallowing dipping into the abstrusity of the totem carvings, ensuring to not allow themselves to become fully submerged within it.
In stark contrast, all of the young Rebirth Qi Practitioners have submerged themselves fully in their cogitation, trying to enlighten themselves on the abstrusity in the art.
Soon, the number of Qi Practitioners that fainted increased as the flow of their blood essence became disrupted. There was even one unlucky individual whose brain had burst apart, effectively turning himself into a corpse that needed to be dragged away by the manor’s servants.
Hu Qimei and Yu Xuanji were also in the midst of comprehending the totem carvings on the wall. They soon noticed the anomaly and tried to find a way through. However, despite their extraordinary talents, they still held a blind reverence towards the【Monster God Ming King Art】that ultimately precluded them from delineating the flaw that was inherent in the fragmentary passage.
Time passed without them knowing and gradually, more monster Qi Practitioners arrived and gathered on the Ba Shui Bridge. Kong Ban and Lian Shan the giant rhinoceros were also a part of those who came after. Kong Ban shot an icy stare at Zhong Yue, and the giant rhinoceros Lian Shan glanced at the Qing Long Keep experts behind Yu Xuanji. His eyes turned vigilant before he restrained himself from acting out in recklessness.
“Young master, acquiring the【Monster God Ming King Art】is more important!”
After another half a month’s time, and Zhong Yue had finally mastered all the totem pattern permutations in the【Monster God Ming King Art】prologue. Although the number of Qi Practitioners present was uncountable, and there were bound to be some exceptionally talented ones among them, none of them had successfully visualized out the prologue.
If I’m the first to visualize out the prologue, I’m afraid it’ll be too eye-catching, there will surely be more tests behind. I’ll be the center of attention if my performance is too shocking.
Rays flashed in his eyes and his heart quivered lightly as he glanced around, There are some Qi Practitioners that have long attained the abstrusity in the art before him, but have also taken in their flaws while trying to suppress them!
All of a sudden, a Qi practitioner with a heavily built body stood up abruptly. With a single step, he was standing above the Ba Shui River and his psyche erupted around his body to actualize into tangible matter!
It was evident that his mortal body was getting stronger as arms started to form and slowly, he morphed into the figure of the Monster God Ming King!
On the Ba Shui Bridge, the monster Qi Practitioners all looked over, their faces changed and hearts trembled. Every movement of the man’s eight arms through the air that broke through the sound barrier was concomitant with sounds of rumbling thunder – it was utterly terrifying!
Zhong Yue noticed the eye that formed on his forehead, this monster Qi Practitioner seemed to have noticed the flaw in the【Monster God Ming King Art】, and had rectified the flaw with the gods he had visualized!
Casting this【Ming King Art】is stronger than my own mortal body! Although my close quarter attacks can break through the sound barrier, sufficient space and distance is an essential prerequisite for achieving it.. But this【Ming King Art】is stronger, it only requires a minimal distance to break through the sound barrier! he thought to himself.
All of a sudden, Yu Xuanji burst in laughter, “So that’s why, that’s why! The prologue that the saint city lord left behind had an intentional flaw in it. The eye on the Ming King’s forehead! As long as the issue with the eye is fixed, then you can attain the abstrusity within it, easily visualizing it out! I’m indeed Xuanji, Hahahaha!”
His voice reverberated throughout the whole place. Shortly thereafter, his words entered the ears of every Qi Practitioner around. They quickly gazed over to the stone wall with their hearts shuddering vigorously!
“Xuanji, shouting like this and you will let at least another dozen more Qi Practitioners attain the art!” Hu Qimei was furious.
Chapter 119: Gigantic Creature |
It was as if a moment of clarity struck Yu Xuanji and he suddenly became lucid of the fact, “So the others Qi Practitioner knew nothing about this? Are they that retarded?”
Shua shua shua————
Countless ferocious glares were directed towards them and along with Hu Qimei, Zhong Yue quickly distanced himself with Yu Xuanji to prevent from being implicated in the indignation of the crowd.
“Please look carefully, it was Yu Xuanji from the Qing Long Keep who said you guys were retarded, this has nothing to do with us!” said the laughing Hu Qimei.
Zhong Yue quickly nodded in corroboration of what Hu Qimei said.
Yu Xuanji gave himself two slaps in frustration. Fortunately for him, everyone was busy in cogitating upon the elusive and remarkable aspects of the 【Monster God Ming King Art】, thus, no one looked to provoke them.
“King Teng, you have passed the test!”
A seneschal looked at the man standing on the river and said.
King Teng.
Zhong Yue looked at the young man and he saw a very unique and pure aura from the extraordinary King Teng, standing out like a bright light among the numerous monsters.
Not long later, Yu Xuanji jumped out and visualized the carvings on the stone wall, successfully visualizing the Monster God Ming King after King Teng. His innate talent really did live up to his name of Xuanji.
Zhong Yue observed for a moment and found out that at most, only three or four of them managed to understand this point before Yu Xuanji. However, the few Qi Practitioners were not as good as Yu Xuanji as they were here a few days earlier.
As time passed, about seven or eight Qi Practitioner had succeeded in visualizing out the Monster God Ming King. Zhong Yue observed closely and saw that these monster Qi Practitioners sought to ameliorate the inherent flaw by visualizing the eagle eyes and monster eyes while the more talented ones opted for the spiritual eye. There was even one who visualized the divine eye, thereby increasing their strength by another tier!
As for the Qi Practitioner who managed to visualized the divine eyes, he must have received incredible benefits as he had received some sort of a mysterious heritage.
I should be able to pass if I replaced my Sui Sovereign’s divine eye with the Sun eye!
Zhong Yue instantly walked down to the stage and visualized the Monster God Ming King as he jettisoned using the Sui Sovereign divine eye in favor of the golden eyes of the Great Sun. With that, he was able to easily pass the tes
t despite the eye of Great Sun being weaker than the divine eye of the Sui Sovereign. Although the eye of Great Sun was weaker, it was more than enough for this current situation. Hu Qimei also passed the test not long after Zhong Yue.
After another four to five days, more and more monster Qi Practitioner managed to visualize the Monster God Ming King. The young and competent ones like Kong Ban and the others had also passed the test respectively.
As more and more of them passed the test, the carvings on the stone walls started to fade. The first test soon came to a close with the complete disappearance of the stone wall carvings.
Originally, this picture left behind by the saint lord of the Xian Kong City was to examine the talent of the monster Qi Practitioners, allowing at most about ten plus Qi Practitioners to pass this test. However, as a result of the pointer that Yu Xuanji inadvertently let slip, the amount of people who passed the test was a few times more than intended!
The most crucial point was that the more experienced and competent cultivators of the various factions were sent to accompany the core disciples in the test. With the aid provided by the helpers, the core disciples managed to decipher the secrets of the art.
As such, there were about sixty plus Qi Practitioners who passed the test; the situation had now truly careened out of the Saint City Lord’s expectation!
The seneschal of Saint City Lord threw an ambivalent look at Yu Xuanji and said, “Everyone, please follow me.”
Yu Xuanji was stunned and blabbered, “Why did he look at me? Did you see their faces? Why are you showing the same angry expression as them? Are there still rules? My words provided so much help to them and they only managed to pass the first test because of me! Instead of thanking me, they get mad at me and they want to kill me! There, look at that! Say something, Brother Long Yue!”
Zhong Yue said in feigned shock, “My friend, I assume this is the first time we’ve met right? I don’t even know you….”
Yu Xuanji looked helplessly at Hu Qimei but all he saw was a Hu Qimei whose eyes darted around in avoidance of meeting his gaze, pretending that she saw nothing.
“You two buggers!” said the angry Yu Xuanji.
The sixty plus Qi Practitioners followed the seneschal and without them knowing, they arrived at a boat docked at the shore.
The seneschal bowed and said, “Please get on board.”
Everyone boarded the luxurious boat where the pillars in the boat were all carved with all sorts of totem carvings and lively beast carvings.
The Awakening level Qi Practitioners sent as protectors of the core disciples by their factions also boarded the boat which was when the seneschal shook his head and said, “When we get to the second stage, please kindly get down of the boat.”
The Awakening Qi Practitioners could not help but feel confused, but the seneschal did not bother to give any explanation.
As the boat trembled, it departed towards the city hall of the Saint City Lord, sailing straight up with the current.
The city hall was extremely big and there were even mountains and rivers in it and they passed through countless heavily guarded gates on their path.
As they passed through these gates, Zhong Yue could even feel an extremely strong aura emitted by the likes of the hall masters and elders in the Swords Gates among the guards garrisoned on the gates!
This place must be extraordinary for the saint city lord to have built this place into a fortress!
The boat continued to sail to its destination and it arrived at the source of the water. It was a cave located within the city hall and the current was flowing out from this cave. It was general knowledge that water had the tendency to flow downward but strangely, the water here flowed upwards contrary to its normative mode of motion. This phenomenon gave everyone an inexplicable and strange feeling!
The boat slowly sailed into the cave on the current and everyone felt the sudden change in the gravity when they got dragged into the cave. Everyone got startled and thought, The totem carvings in the cave must have changed the laws of gravity!
The water was pristine and they saw countless totem pillars standing in the water that inverted the gravity of the cave to cause the water to flow upwards.
Zhong Yue looked at the totem pillars and thought, These totem pillars look kinda new, they should have only existed for one to two hundred years and this cave does not particularly look like an ancient one as well.
He stood firmly on the boat as he measured the cave. He saw claw marks around the caves that were left behind by the Qi Practitioners when they dug open this entire cave!
Strange, from the looks of these claw marks, those who clawed open this cave must be Qi Practitioners, which means it should have been clawed open from the inner part to the outer part, all the way to the outside of the mountain.
He was a little bit shocked when he thought of this and he continued, But if the monsters want to reach this point, they would have to dig in from the outside. But the claw marks suggest that it all started from the inside. With that being said, something must have crawled out of this cave. How big could the thing be if was able to dig out such a gigantic hole….
Zhong Yue felt a little bit dizzy as he could not imagine what kind of a monster could it be.
The totem pillars in the river must have been planted down after the monsters discovered this cave to remove the water from inside it.
The boat sailed deep into the cave and judging from the sailing path, they must have entered the inner part of the black mountain. This cave was not a simple one as its insides meandered with a multitude of turns and curves.
There were also some kind of strange plants all on top of the walls and top of the cave. These plants looked like lanterns, emitting a luminescence in the cave. There were some transparent huge fish that crawled up the shore to feed on these lantern plants. Even after the plants were swallowed, they did not stop emitting light. Thus, Zhong Yue was able to see the luminescence of the plants even when they were in the stomach of these fish.
Still going down?
Zhong Yue’s heart thumped and he thought, We will be entering the vicinity of the Devil Soul Forbidden Land if we continued going down.
In his psyche ocean, Xin Huo excitingly calculated the extra time needed before they would reach the Devil Soul Forbidden Land.
As the boat sailed deeper and deeper, the cave became narrower, yet it was still considerably wide nonetheless. The surroundings also brightened up as the light came from above.
When Zhong Yue looked around, he saw jungles starting to appear in the cave and lava brightening up the jungles as huge trees stood high, looming over the cave. The scene was as if they were suddenly thrown into a prehistoric world!
In front of this prehistoric world, were swamps that seemed to almost completely submerge the entire cave and this was apparently the source of the water, being pumped away by the totem pillars, preventing the cave from flooding.
At the other side of the cave, there was a cave palace, hanging on the stone walls and there was an old monster who sat at the front of the palace. As the boat sailed close, his eyesight brushed through the faces of all the Qi Practitioners on the boat like an eagle.
The old monster’s eagle-sharp gaze was as if there were countless needles poised towards their throats!
This was due to the old monster’s unfathomable strength as it was evident that he had been standing sentry at his post for a very long time.
“This is the second and final stage.”
The boat stopped and the seneschal said, “After the water swamps would be the secret realm of the Black Mountain. The secret realm was where the Monster God Ming King once stayed. This is also the place where the city lord obtained the 【Monster God Ming King Art】. If you can get your hands on the completed 【Monster God Ming King Art】, then you will be the final disciple of the city Lord!”
“A complete 【Monster God Ming King Art】?”
On the boat, the Qi Practitioners erupted
in an uproar upon hearing what the seneschal said.
The 【Monster God Ming King Art】 was the art cultivated by the Saint City lord and it belonged to the pantheon of ultimate arts in this world. They never would’ve fathomed that its roots were in a place like this!
This meant that those who entered the secret realm will have a chance to get their hands on the 【Monster God Ming King Art】, which would give them the chance to rise to the top of the world!
Therefore, as long as they were able to obtain the 【Monster God Ming King Art】, it wouldn’t even matter if they failed to become the the final disciple of the saint city lord as they would be able to become a paragon of the world regardless!
“So this is the secret realm of the Black Mountain!”
Yu Xuanji whispered to Zhong Yue and Hu Qimei, “I heard about this, they said that a humongous creature once crawled out from the Black Mountain and this incident shook the entire Eastern Barren. The reason why the former saint city lord died was because he fought with this creature whereupon he was inflicted heavy injuries in the confrontation that ultimately cost him his life. The creature then disappeared and nobody has ever heard of this creature ever since.”
Hu Qimei nodded and said, “I heard about this from the elders in my clan as well. It was said that many of the experts of the monsters died when they entered this secret realm. As such, our Eastern Barren almost got devoured by the celestial race. Then, a little Qi Practitioner walked out alive from the secret realm and with a few decades, he rose up as one of the strongest Qi Practitioners in the Eastern Barren, much to its shock ! This little Qi Practitioner is now the city lord of the saint city! From then on, this secret realm became a prohibited area to any Qi Practitioners.
