Returning to Mr. Darcy Page 21

by Sheena Austin

When they arrived, she was shocked. Darcy helped her and Anise out of the car. She stepped out of the car with Anise’s car seat and stood in front of a beautiful French lake house. She was in awe. Then it dawned on her; it was the house from Love Actually.

“Whoa,” was all she could get out. She did not want to curse, because Anise was sleeping soundly.

He whispered, “Surprise, I hope you like it.”

“Indeed, I more than like it, I love it!” she whispered.

“I am glad because I bought it,” he smiled.

“What!? Are you kidding me?” She was in shock.

“I would never joke about something like this. I knew you have dreamed about living here.”

“How did you know?” she asked.

“A little birdie told me,” he quipped.

“Jo told you, didn’t she?” She eyed him suspiciously.

He placed his hands in his pockets, looked down like a little boy, and kicked dirt with his foot. “Maybe.”

“Hmm mmm . . . well, I am glad she did! Thank you so much! I love you so very much! How shall I ever repay you?”

“You already have, by giving me the most precious gifts ever—your heart, and our beautiful daughter. You are quite welcome, my love. I love you very much, and I told you-you deserve the very best!”

Anise awoke and cooed. “Anise definitely approves,” Elizabeth said.

Darcy took Elizabeth by her free arm and gestured toward the house. “Shall we?”

  “Yes, we shall.” She beamed.

The sun was setting; Darcy and Elizabeth, with their baby, walked off into the sunset and into their new home.
