slept peacefully “my God you are beautiful” she said placing Ty’Keria in her sleeping bin. “Heavenly Father I thank you for giving me and my love ones the strength and privilege to see another day. I thank you for my beautiful daughter and amazing son I pray that you give me strength when I am weak and sight when I am lost. I ask that you cover me and my family in your blood and that you shield our bodies from all harm and pain. May no weapons formed against us prosper Amen. Stephanie walked through her house praying as she held her chest “something is wrong with my baby” she said picking up her phone dialing Randy number. “Hey beautiful how you and Keira doing? Randy said answering the phone. “We are fine baby are you okay I just felt the need to pray for you lately you been on my heart and I just want to see if everything is okay. Usually when your child is on your heart they’re out here doing wrong, but I know you are not like that never mind me baby I am just being a worried concerned mother.” Stephanie said laughing at herself. “Yeah ma you worrying too much I am right around the corner I’ll be home in thirty minutes.” Randy said hanging up. Stephanie grab the broom and started cleaning. “Ima surprise my baby I am going to clean his room he’ll love that.” Stephanie headed towards Randy room she could smell a strong odor coming from inside of his room. ‘Is that weed I smell mix with cocaine?” Stephanie was very familiar with the smell of weed mix with cocaine because Ty’Keria father always laced his weed with cocaine. She quickly open Randy door and was instantly disgusted with how nasty his room was. “Well I can’t get mad my baby too busy helping me till he don’t have time to clean his room.” Stephanie grab Randy dirty cloth basket and started separating all of his clothes a silver shiny folder caught her attention. She picked it up and it read “The Other Me” opening it up curious to see what was in it Stephanie was instantly shock. She held the poem “Living a Double Life in her hand like it was a winning lotto ticket. “What are you doing in my room?” Randy said startling his mother. “Randy did you write this poem? Are you smoking that mess?” “Yo get the fuck out of my room” Randy barked bringing tears to his mother eyes. “Don’t you ever talk to me like that again. How long have this been going on Randy? We are going to church I am taking you off of the football team you is grounded until I can trust you again, and God is going to see us through this.” “I’m not going nowhere and you ain’t going to do shit but get yo nosey ass out my damn room.” Stephanie looked at her golden child and couldn’t believe what her eyes and ears was witnessing. “Randy do you know what you are getting yourself into? This is a cold world out here I raised you to be a man I did not raised you like this.” “Oh you raised me to be a man but you don’t have the decency to go out and find you a man. You a fucking hypocrite just like them other motherfuckers in that stupid ass church always preaching something that they don’t practice get the fuck out my room.” Stephanie held her stomach and began to walk away “I will not give up on you the Devil is a liar the streets will not take my only son away from me.” “They already did ma" Randy said slamming the door in his mother face. Randy threw his body on his bed still shock at what just had happen never in a million years did he ever think that he would be talking to his mother this way. “Damn man what the fuck was I thinking God help me I do not want to live my life like this.” Randy could hear his mother weeping through the thin walls although Randy was indeed cold hearted his intentions was to never show his mother his other side, but he couldn’t help but feel a sigh of relief he could now be himself.

  The Next Day

Randy alarm went off “shut the fuck up” he said knocking the alarm on the floor. Knock Knock “Randy its time for school get up.” Stephanie said through the door. “I’m not going get the fuck away from my got damn door” he barked." Before Randy knew it his mother was in his face she kicked his door off the hinges “what did you just say?” she said slobbing out her mouth in anger. “I said I’m getting up right now ma” he said jumping up scared to death. “I may be saved but one thing about it the streets will always be in me boy you got five minutes and you better not be late.” Randy got dressed as fast as he could “I’m out ma” he said slamming the dooring not giving her a chance to say anything. “Lord give me the strength I don’t know what I did to deserve this but I know you will see me and my family through this Satan will not take my child from me” she said holding her daughter in her hands crying.

“Aye Choppa Real Nigga let me holla at you bro” Randy said throwing his hand up. “What’s up DL” “When I get done telling you about my crazy ass night DL will no longer be in existence. My mom came across my book with all my poetry and secrets about Choppa City Niggas yesterday I get home from practice and find her all up in my shit next thing I know we arguing and I’m being mad disrespectful to ma dukes man I couldn't sleep, and when I finally went to sleep my alarm goes off I ignore it she tell me to get up I say some foul next thing I know she kick my door off the hinges.” “You lying ma dukes a beast DL I Mean Big Choppa” Real Nigga ask. “Dawg more like a gorilla I never seen that side of her and I got a feeling shit is about to hit the fan. I feel terrible every time I disrespect her but I am so disappointed in myself until I do it to hide my pain and embarrassment I wasn’t raised like this” Randy said with his head down. “Well ain’t no need to get all soft and shit you disrespecting ma duke you’ll get use to that shit so don’t trip she should’ve never been in yo shit. Look now that she know about you fuck school it times to get money baby” Real Nigga said passing Randy a .48 caliber. “You go need this look we about to hit a lick hold this for me I’ll call you when I need it.” Randy shook his head and walked off, and headed back home. “Yes Jesus love me for the Bible tells me so.” Randy could hear his mother singing at the top of her lungs from the porch he use to always beg her to sing him to sleep every night she had the most powerful voice he had ever heard. Hearing the door knob twist Stephanie stop singing and pulled out her gun “woe put that shit down ma it’s me I ain’t know you was packing” Randy said holding his hand up. “That’s one thing we can agree on together is that we do not know a lot about each other have a seat” Stephanie said pointing to the chair. “Nal ma I’m about to head out.” “Boy I said sit yo narrow behind down and why is you not in school. Randy for every reaction there had to be an action what lead you to this lifestyle?” “Come on ma ion want to talk about this right now damn can you just let it go. I am just like my father end of story.” “You are my son Randy I gave you everything life had to offer maybe that’s where I went wrong. The streets been talking and I hear you in some Choppa gang the same gang your father was in I refuse to say their name. You know Jackson (Choppa City Real Nigga Father) him and your father was inseparable every time you seen one you seen the other, and you know what happen? He set your father up to get killed because your father was more powerful than him and your father never seen it coming he was too busy showing love he didn’t see the signs. One thing about the streets baby is they love no one that boy is going to be the death of you just like in your poem you said your father blood runs through you his father blood runs through him as well. We are going to get through this together and I am go pray you out of this situation and it is not going to be easy.” Stephanie said reaching for her bible. “Ma just let it go Lil Jack is my nigga he was there for me when nobody was there if Big Jack did kill my dad his punk ass had to turn on Big Jack he wasn’t running shit but this damn house and your weak minded ass. I don’t want to hear shit else about this I am going to live my life the way I want to live it and you is not going to control me.” “Go to your room now! You think you know it all huh you don’t know anything Randy I love you and I am going to protect you even if it kills me. You is not my only child I need you and I love you more than words can explain the love I have for you is not on the map you are my seed and God as my witness I am going to ride this hell boat with you until the end. The bible says train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it. You may stray now but it will not be long before you re
turn back home. He said if I speak it into existence it shall happen I love you Randy and I am go tell you that everyday of your life.” Stephanie said looking him in his eyes. Randy headed out the door with tears in his heart but money on his mind. Jogging to the corner where all his boys await for him he was met by Choppa Cut Throat Nigga “aye Choppa that nigga Real done found us a nice lick he need us right now” he said throwing Randy a ski mask. They jumped in the truck and sped to where Real was once they arrived they found Real pistol whooping this elderly white couple. “Man what the fuck you doing?” Randy yelled. “Shut the fuck up and tie this bitch up I got 50 g’s on me and this jewelry I took from them gotta be worth over 150 g’s drag them in that alley” Randy and Cut Throat did as they was told before Randy could turn around the elderly lady head blew up Real had shot her and had stabbed her husband to death.
