“I’m sure it’s nothing.” She shook her head, unable to completely eliminate the nagging thought that sat at the back of her mind like a tiny splinter festering just under the skin.

As she started past him, he grabbed her forearm and swung her body up next to his, kissing her senseless, ending by sucking on her bottom lip, allowing it to slowly slide between his teeth as he pulled away.

“Why don’t you tell me what’s been on your mind since before the wedding so we can both decide it’s nothing and put it to rest.” His eyes met hers as his fingers worked at the towel he’d cocooned her into earlier.

“I’m sure it’s silly, but after what you said about words having so much power?” She waited while he nodded. “I just keep thinking about that day in Pol’s Glen, when I asked him to restore my rightful Fae gifts to me and to all those like me.”

Ramos continued to nod as he traced the rose shape over her heart with one finger. “And?”

“Well, I know what happened to me,” she responded a bit breathlessly as his finger set the mark to tingling pleasantly. “But what about all those others? All the ones who have no idea what they are? If I ended up with this mark on my chest, and the power to travel through time, I can’t help but wonder what might have happened to them. What fears they might have.”

“What damage they might cause? It’s a valid concern, my sweet,” he acknowledged, and smiled. “But for now, I’m too hungry to worry about it. Still, I’ll offer you a deal. While we’re here, you put all that out of your mind and simply enjoy yourself, and when we return home, we’ll set about finding those others.” He swept an arm under her legs and lifted her, bringing their faces close together. “Bargain?” he whispered, just before kissing down the side of her neck.

“Bargain struck,” she murmured, letting her head drop back as his tongue traced over the mark on her breast.

“Bargain fulfilled,” he countered, carrying her into the bungalow and kicking the door shut behind them.
