Her Black Soul (The Dark Amulet Series Book 3) Page 24

by A. J. Norris

“Is that so?” His thumbs passed over her nipples.

  She gasped. “Uh huh.”

“You took some punches too.” He kissed her neck.

  “On purpose though.”

“All of them?” Virgil’s lips tickled her earlobe.

“Well…no, I didn’t say that.” She smiled, ran her hand up the back of his head, and wove her fingers into his hair. He purred into the crook of her neck.

“I’ve made a decision.” Evita turned her head, bringing her lips to his. She kissed him lightly. There was no need to rush into having sex, they had forever.

“Do you care to share this decision?”

  “I wanna help Abaddon.”

  Virgil’s muscles tensed. “Uh…what?”

“Maybe not him exactly, but the fallen.”

“No. Absolutely not. You want to go back there?”

“I’m not saying I wanna go back to Netherworld. Hear me—”

  “Good.”

“Listen, if I can make it out, Jeremiah, Amalya, then others can too. I have a feeling something big is about to happen and they will need guidance. Abaddon is weak. He’ll need help too.”

  “You’re not a Redeemer or a Guardian.”

  “No. But you are.”

  “No. No way.”

“Please? I love you. I need your help. Plus I’m going to recruit the most powerful Warrior I know and she’ll owe me.”

“She will owe you, as in she doesn’t owe you now? And since when do angels owe one another anything? We do things out of love and compassion. Respect.”

“Do you actually believe that? Maybe that is your motivation. But I guess that’s why I mated you.”

“Wait a second, are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

“I’m saying you’re naïve.” She rotated in his arms and smiled.

  “No. I’m an angel.”

“Exactly. And you have love and compassion.”

  “You fight dirty, my love.”

  “That’s why you mated me.”

Always and forever. Evita rotated in his arms until she faced him. “I want try something. I was afraid before, I think that’s why it didn’t work.”

  “Afraid of what?”

“What I might find out. I mean you did cheat on me.” Evita winked.

He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

She giggled. “I don’t blame you. I understand you were trying to mend your broken heart. I get that.”

  “Do you?”

  “Yes. I promise.”

“You said you wanted to try something?”

“I must confess to a little secret among Warriors. So, shhh, don’t tell anyone.” She put a finger to his lips.

“All right. But you haven’t told me anything, my love.”

  “It’s about your mark.”

“The suspense is killing me,” he groaned.

She placed a hand over his heart and the feather mark she gave him so long ago. The lines glowed and warmed her palm. Abaddon could never eradicate Virgil from her completely. There was one place the Demon Ruler couldn’t reach. For safekeeping, every memory of their life together was locked inside her soul, out of reach. Virgil’s tattoo didn’t contain the memories like she believed, but served as the key to opening what was stored away. She only needed the strength and desire to use it.

He smiled, pulling her in for a kiss. “I love you.”

  “I love you more.”

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A.J. Norris is a lover of all books but her loyalty remains with her first crush; romance. She graduated from a mid-western college with a degree in absolutely nothing to do with writing whatsoever. It wasn’t until well after college when the build-up of voices inside her head became too overwhelming and needed to be let out, that she began to write. She isn’t following a family legacy of writers, only a need to put words on a piece of paper.

A.J. is a movie buff, especially book adaptations, loves watching her son play baseball and communing with other writers. She lives with her family who are extremely tolerant (at least most of the time) of all her late nights behind the computer, clack clacking away.
