  She smiled up at him. “I love you too,” she said, and the words were exactly what he needed to hear.

  As they walked out the door, her phone rang. She took it out of her pocket and then answered. She pulled Darek to a stop with her. “Agent McNamara.” Her face fell. “Call Max and tell him we need an ID, but don’t let him approach until I get there.”

  She hung up the phone and closed her eyes.

  “What is it?” he asked.

  “The guys just found a young girl. She looks to be under twenty, fits the description. They don’t have a positive ID, so I told them to call Max.”

  Darek let out a long breath. His gut told him who it was. “Mia.”
