Edwin gave Brooke a peck on the cheek and Ridge a stiff handshake. “Why didn’t you tell us you were coming?”
Brooke’s eyes twinkled. “And spoil the surprise? No way.” She put her arm around Rachel. “Actually, I have my baby sister to thank for being here.”
“I think it’s the other way around,” Rachel said. “Brooke helped save my life.”
Edwin narrowed his eyes. “I don’t understand.”
“You’re about to,” Ridge told him.
“I had a sixth sense or something that Rachel was in trouble,” Brooke explained, and ran a hand through her short, layered hair. “When I couldn’t reach her by cell phone, I notified the authorities. Turned out they were already hot on the trail of the man who kidnapped Rachel. I took the first flight from Honolulu, wanting to make sure she was safe.”
Edwin grinned. “You two always have looked out for one another.”
“It’s called sisterly love,” Brooke said proudly.
Rachel seconded that. “I guess we are sort of joined at the hip. Speaking of which, I had the strangest dream that we were both sixteen. Weird, huh?”
“Uh, yeah.” Brooke chuckled. “No desire to go there again, thank you. I prefer to remain ten years your senior. I’m afraid you’ll always have play catch up, little sister.”
Rachel embraced her again. “That’s perfectly okay with me.”
