We all leaned forward, curious to know what he had. Was it more links? Were there multiples like how he said that he had two sets of rings? I noticed his left hand had one of the rings glimmering around his ring finger. "Hmm." I thought. He gently placed the items on the coffee table for us to see. The first, was a necklace, shaped similarly to the tie clip, and made of the same material. The other items, were a pair of earrings, shaped identically to the links, same size and everything. "WOAH! What are they!" I asked, picking them up to check them out.
"They are exactly what you think they are, young Chloe." he replied. "But how? Where did they come from?" asked Dad. "They are from this time, but a bit further in the future, they came from the AVSPU." he replied. "But what do they do? What are they for?" I asked. "They're a set, dear, there is a male set and a female set, they were made for two travelers. The person who created them had a bit of a sense of humor. That is why they are mixed with old style and new technology." he said. "What? Why?" asked Auntie. "That's a long story, dear Allie." he replied. "So this is how you came here? You used the earrings and the necklace? Why are you here, sir? How do you know all of our names?" I asked, curious to know about the strange-talking fellow sitting on my couch.
"I am here because I need your family's assistance in locating and saving someone very dear to my heart. The person whom these items belonged to has gone missing, somewhere in time. I am unsure as to which period of time she is in, and I need the entire set to be able to search the different periods. I have this set, and you have the second set. Now that Allie and Andrew have the rings, your set is complete. I need your family's assistance, desperately." he explained. "How do you know about all of this, and how do you know about our family?" asked Auntie. "Yeah." I said, wondering the same thing.
"We don't mind assisting you, sir, but you just sort of appeared out of nowhere. When are you from exactly?" asked Dad. "I have traveled here from the year 1941." he stated. "WHAT!" I screamed. "That's over 100 years ago!" screamed Auntie. "Yes, indeed it is, dear Allie." he said, smiling. "That explains why you talk so funny, you're like, ancient!" I said, and he laughed at that. "Indeed, but really, I am only 29 years of age. I was born in the year 1912." he said. "Like, 1912, as in, the year the Titanic hit the iceberg?" asked Auntie. "Indeed, although my birthday is in September, so I was not quite born yet." he said. We were all dumbfounded.
"How did you end up with these items 100 years ago?" asked Dad. "Well, that is a long tale, and would take a long explanation, but let me just say that the person to whom these female items belonged, is from your decade. I need your help in locating her, I do not know the ways of this time, and the electronic equipment is lost on me." he explained. "Well yeah, because you're freaking ancient dude." I said. "We will help you, or a version of us will, somehow, but we need to know, sir, who are you?" asked Auntie.
The man smiled again and took a deep breath and said, "My name is Roger, but everybody calls me Ellis. I am Ellis Harmon." he replied. "Ellis Harmon?" I asked, and Auntie and Dad both looked at each other and screamed, "PAPAW!" My mouth dropped. "Yes, dear Harmons, I am in fact, your grandfather and Chloe's great-grandfather, and I need assistance in locating and saving my dear wife, Francine Harmon." he said. Auntie looked at me and then she screamed, "HOLY SHITBALLS!"
